Assuming the last minute pieces arrive on time, I'm planning on going on Friday as Marceline. I'm still not sure if Adventure Time is too much of a stretch for a gaming convention, but nuts to that!
Well my costume is almost done! Just waiting for my beer hat to show up so I can modify it into Brolafs helmet. I even found an appropriate Polo. I'd order one from Riot but it wouldn't arrive in time.
I took a few liberties with color, and fur, but overall you can tell who I'm supposed to be.
I was hesitant at first, now I'm happy with what I've made so far.
Gotta do some touching up and what not tomorrow with the base coat, but it's gonna be detail painting time pretty soon:
The foam ridge didn't work out like I was hoping so I said fuck it and just hosed it down. I'm going to build onto it with modeling clay once I'm done painting and fix it. I used the original clear visor as convenient throw away painting setup.
Overall, there are some definite fuckups I've noticed, but I don't feel too bad about em cause I've never really done prop building like this and my prototype stuff is always kinda "eh." I'll definitely do some mark II stuff after PAX for future cons and improve where I messed up.
I'm going to put together a Kaylee costume for one day (my favorite part of this costume is the oil smears finally, a use for the black lipstick from my goth years!), and probably wear something generically steampunky another, if it's comfortable enough to wear my corset all day.
Euphasie 83 Human Paladin, <Keepers of Azeroth>, Silver Hand (RP-PVE) Smithereena 67ish Gnome Rogue, <Keepers of Azeroth>, Silver Hand (RP-PVE)
I'm really considering going as Sander Cohen from BioShock. I have my outfit all finished and ready, but this will be my first PAX and I'm not sure if I want to dress up.
Here's a picture:
Thankfully the outfit is perfectly comfortable to walk in. I was thinking of going as Amaterasu from Okami, but that outfit is extremely uncomfortable. Especially the contacts and the boots:
Maybe I'll wear it on the last day. I'm not sure! I look forward to seeing everyone else's cosplay. I'll definitely be taking my camera.
This is my third PAX, but my first year dressing up. Unfortunatly, my job doesn't leave me much time to do costuming (plus I'm not very good with a sewing machine and I'm a perfectionist) so I cheated and bought a premade one (I made sure to find a high qualitly one though). However, I am making some of my own accessories. I will be going as Jessica Albert from Dragon Quest VIII. I have all the parts finally, I just need to finish making my slime earrings. I was thinking about making some sort of necklace for her, but I'm not sure what to make or if I'll have time.
HA, look at Studly Do Right above.. LOL. ^^ Michalius I admire your gumption, but I am sure that lovely young lady will have no problems finding a place to rest her head.
That Nidalee costume is looking very nice, I must agree. I know many a nerd and geek will be drooling all over themselves, and I am sure you'll be one captured in many a photo. If THAT GUY is lucky enough maybe we can get a picture together.. trust me you'll know THAT GUY when you see him.
If i find a good Holster id love to be Nathan Drake this year. I've looked it over and I could pull it off easy but I really wanna get one of those leather shoulder holsters he has in uncharted 2, i even have a mock 92fs that i could bring if it were allowed but alas, id rather not risk it. I'm probably a little bit shorter than he is and my hair Isn't quite as dark, but i think i could pull it off enough. It would be mostly just for fun.
Update as of now I have a shirt jeans belt and ring necklace. I'm still looking for a good holster, turns out someone was making uncharted two holster replica's but stopped making them as of march i believe, I'm still looking around on Ebay for something close to what he has for less than $100. I can find something that is the same model, but made of nylon and Camo colored, or a leather holster but not the same design, finding this is harder than it seemed like it should be. I will be seeing about getting a replica of his watch and getting a haircut to match of course in the next week or so. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?
No, there isn't. PAX is a gaming event first and foremost, and as such there have not historically been masquerades, official costume contests, etc. Now, if you want to find some partners for an awesome game of Magic...
That panel is unfortunately timed, though... I love video game music to damn much to miss any part of the official Friday concerts. Cosplay is 'a thing' in Freeway Park, huh? I know that pounding Budweisers (as Carl is wont to do) out there is not an option, but I'll check it out all the same.
2018 West: Badges [x] TWDT [Rclaw TT] Cosplay: Still bald. Still single. Still lovin' it!

I will be there in my marine. Due to the weapons policy I may be forced to go.. unarmed..
Still, look for me lurking around the 40k tables and the costuming panels. See everyone there!
Is it weird if I wear an anime related costume that isn't game related?
I wanna wear my Miku cosplay costume
Also, have you not played the Japanese-exclusive Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Rhythm game? Originally released exclusively for the PSP, later on there was an updated version for PS3. I've heard it's horribly addictive and the music is good, but sometimes the rhythm triggers imperfectly timed. There have been two of them, and a third is incoming I think? And at one point there was a limited edition Hatsune Miku PSP! But don't try to buy one, they're known to be prone to having disc-read errors and it's pretty much impossible to get warranty service outside of Japan.
So technically, totally game-related.

Will do! Once my SDCC costumes are done, Merrill is my main project, so I'm 99.9% sure I'll finish it. I already have the wig and materials for her "chain mail". Excited to see all of those costumes.
We'll have to get together for a group photo since that'll be at least four DA2 characters and I'm sure we will probably get more as time passes.
What are you making the chain mail out of? After looking around for options and tricks I just gave up and ordered the supplies to make the real stuff since mine is on the outside of the outfit. I'd imagine that would be too time consuming, heavy and expensive for the amount you'll need though...
Way late reply! We definitely do have to do a group shoot. I'll have Merrill for Fri & Sat, Sunday is the LoL costume contest, so no Merrill that day.
As for the chainmail, I would've loved to try and create real mail, but I am not that talented, lol. I tried out a few different ideas, but ended up using a black fishnet bodystocking painted with gray & silver paint. Then I just layered it over my black bodysuit. The fishnet lost a lot of stretch, but it still works pretty well.
First off, your Nidalee costume looks amazing so far. I did the Leopard skin for the Halloween costume last year, was pretty ghetto, lol, I'm jealous of how great that one is going to be. Second, are you wearing that for the costume contest? :O

Not my video, but I bought the same ball to use as an artifact for my S.T.A.L.K.E.R. costume. I'd like to make it look less like a tennis ball and more like a rock. Any ideas on how to build it up without dimming the light down too much? Otherwise I'll probably cut it down instead.
Well, I was hoping to do a costume this year but, sadly I only hit my halfway mark for my weight loss adventure. So, because I don't want to scare people off into comas.. I will just be the crazy loon runnin around takin pictures of everyone. Pestering whoever I can pester! HOWEVER, next year... I'd like to need to get something planned out. I don't want to go alone... and I highly doubt I can convince the manly boyfriend that costumes are great on any day but halloween. I'm leaning towards dynasty warriors, final fantasy, maybe somethin even wow related. But at this point i'd be rather leniant. Goin to blizzcon this year I was going to join in on a burlesque dragon themed group but.. Apparently my love for bright amazing colors, was too raverish for their likings.. SO... Ideas for next year, even though we're 2 weeks off from this years event? Hit me up!

What about using some sort of clear resin to build up on it?

That was a very nice read and great looking costume. I hope to see it there.
edit - Also I think we can recreate at least one of his tattoos using sharpie marker...
The very instant I decide to go outside to do some spray painting, it starts very lightly drizzling. Godfuckingdamnit.
Thanks. I'm working on the tougher parts of the costume now. I almost wish it can make itself on time for the con.

I don't think it'll be all that weird. We had a few people from Japan a few years back who weren't cosplaying game characters. They fit in just fine.
