Gah! The missus and I had everything lined up for PAX, passes bought, residence obtained, etc. But things came up and prevented us from coming. It would have been awesome too, because we were going to cosplay as Castle and Beckett from the TV show Castle.
Cliffs of Sanity, technically 11th Doctor and Amy Pond are in a video game now! We have our peoples doing the doctor who thing too. Boys are cross dressing as the companions and the ladies are 10th and 11th, capt jack, and the tardis. We will have to find each other if you cosplaying Friday, well either way I would like a photo.
I am the husband that Cliffs of Sanity was referring to...
We don't yet know if we are going to cosplay on Friday or Saturday, but we should definitely meet up! I was thinking of trying to get any and all Dr. Who types to meet in one place for a big photo.
omg is anyone a particular character? I was thinking of doing twilight sparkle or a pony of my own creation
need to see if I have a budget for this now!! Must do this!

We've got a Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Apple Jack that I know of- much pony love this year1

There's also a "maybe" twilight sparkle, but I don't think that was confirmed yet.
Rarity is the only main character that nobody has touched that I know of. And there's definitely the whole minor cast (trixie, the CMCs, zecora, derpy)
While I'm not a pony fan, if you guys are seriously gonna do this, there had better be a Derpy Hooves just for hilarity factor. For some reason the wall-eyed pony I sometimes see the bronies post in random threads makes me laugh my ass off.

I just took a trip to some stores and did a half closet cosplay for Twilight Sparkle!! =D
I bought the dress and a shirt to go underneath it. I have also now made ears, a horn, tail, mane (hair ties really), and am now putting the cutie mark on the dress. I also bought new shoes that seem like they will be really comfy!
Would it be too much to put small horseshoes on the bottom of them so they make the clicking noise? Also looking out for fabric to make armlets and little leg warmer type covers for the shoes so that they are purple too
Will post pics of both costumes after I get my tabard for Vanessa back from the print shop this Tuesday!!
So these are the two Wig I have. The first one has the color I like, but my gay roommate went and put styling product in it and now I have to wash it out so it may not look the same. Then, the second one I just LOVE the style but I think it's too bright. So I have turned to the PAX community to get your opinions! Thanks!
I like the First one.. but unless you clean your room up young lady, NO PAX for you.
can you try them without the Red Shirt.. Maybe something more neutral? That way we get a better idea of the wig color and not how it plays off the red shirt?
GamingGoddess: I would say go with the first, the color looks a lot better and the styling that it has in the first picture is really not bad at all and to me looks like the second. As for washing it and worrying about the styling my friend uses spray bottles to gently get water in them and then cleans small portions at a time to try to do the least amount of damage to the styling as possible, also blowdrying to style works very well, just use low heat and take your time.
So I just had a last minute idea and I wanted to see if there'd be anyone who'd be willing to pull this off last minute.
So there's this shirt about Doctor Who that looks like this:
and I can pull off a pretty decent 10th Doctor:
I'm just missing the red shoes, so they'll have to be green. Is there anyone out there with the ability, and the want to recreate this shirt at the Rock Band Freeplay stage sometime during the weekend?
OMG! Costume contest on Friday at 8pm at the Crabcat Industries Revenge of the Cosplayers panel!!!
Who wants to enter and what costume will you use?! (if you have multiple)
I am thinking I will be a my little pony during the day but then change into Vanessa VanCleef for the panel and competition since I feel it is a stronger costume.
Anyone know how I can carry my second costume during the day since it has a lot of pieces and takes up some room? Is there anywhere to hold bags and stuff maybe?
I do not have a car since I am flying in and I am staying at my sister's apartment and riding for half an hour on the bus to get downtown to the convention. The bus to her neighborhood stops running around 7pm. In other words I would have to take a bus to the convention in the morning, then the last bus back to the apartment, change, and then a taxi to the convention again and then back to the apartment for the night.
Yeah I know making it difficult...sorry
The best I can think of is I have two others in the group, I can maybe split up the nonfragile parts of the costume into the other two's bags and then put the fragile pieces in small boxes to put in my bag. When it comes time for the panel and competition change before, then hand my bag off to the bf. Also I would only have myself to blame if anything fragile broke or messed up while in my bag. I would also probably pack some small repair things in my bag like a glue gun and needle and thread and extra smaller parts for emergencies. Any other suggestions? A bag check would be wonderful but I honestly don't remember one from last year.
Yeah, that's horrible timing on that. The official concerts start at 8:30.
Yeah, that's one panel I would have loved to have gone to since I'm slowly getting more involved with the whole costuming thing. However, there is no way in hell I'm skipping The Protomen, especially when, yanno, I'm making a Protomen costume.
I'm absolute shit at the clothing making aspects of all this, but I do loves me some prop making. Granted, I am confined to apartment grade tool ownership. That said, I may end up dumping my girlfriend and marrying my Dremel instead. Maybe I can convince her to be ok with me sharing my love between the two .
TOG, I dunno man, every Dremel I have ever met is not the sharing kind.. besides, they tend to wanna cut a B!T(H when cheated on. So I think its a bad idea all around. Not sure if I will do the contest either.. mine is just for shits and giggles.. besides I have seen what many people do and I can't compete!
For the most part these competitions or whatnot are for fun and you might not win but think of all the great photos you will get of others and their costumes! I just do it for fun and if my group is up to it we will take the whole doctor who gang over for it.

I would like to enter for a couple reasons
1. FUN!!
2. My Vanessa VanCleef costume is really the first costume I put this much time and money into and I would like feedback on it
3. I have always wanted to do a costume competition at a con
I love seeing all the work and dedication people put into their costume and would like others to see how much I put into mine as well
I've got a Pinkie Pie costume that I'm probably going to trot out (Ha! Trot out! Get it?)
I'm thinking of doing a variation of that costume that is cookie brigade-related as well. It'll be nice and visible when I'm distributing.
I've also got a Twisp and Catsby outfit/puppet combination that I've never finished. We shall see about that.

My friend will be joining be as Lu Xun, so we'll have two of us being Dynasty Warriors now. Woo!
I am also really excited that there is a cosplay panel/contest. I might enter just for fun, but I highly doubt I would win or anything. I mostly just want to see everyone else's costumes, and I think it'll be great to just talk to other cosplayers at PAX.
Alas, won't be doing anything special this year. Perhaps next...
However, for those who *are* doing costumes, my husband or I will have a stuffed green frog with one of us. Take a photo with him, and you'll get one of his buttons.

Oh, did you guys do that last year, too? The picture of my friends and I with the frog became one of our favorites!

Nyan Cat or a My Little Pony!
(yes I am one of those young adults that watches my little pony friendship is magic>.< )
Would either of those be appreciated?
I am leaning more towards Nyan Cat even though some bronies would totally support a fellow my little pony fan.

Almost ready to post some info on my costume. I hope you get as much of a kick outta of it as I do.

Not the thread for this, also there's a decent chance the swag bags may have them again this year.
