Pig Hero 6: WARRIORS OF RAWK
A lot of people say that being open-minded is a good thing. A lot of people are WRONG. You have an open mind, people are going to come along and dump all sorts of crap in it. Like Lady Gaga, right? What the fuck is her deal? I mean, what kind of name is Lady Gaga, anyway? Take a band like Queen. There's a hell of a name for a band. Coincidently...
Guess which one got a spot in this game?
Which brings me to my main point. Pig Hero 6: WARRIORS OF RAWK. It's a game. A game about RAWK. Why RAWK? Because change is bad. See, there's this thing. It looks like a transformer, and it's
transforming the RAWK any decent human being loves into... Something else. They aren't very clear on that point. Lady Gaga probably gets involved at some point, and that's enough motivation for me. Anyway, the Transformer beat up the God of RAWK, or something, and now you gotta get the band back together and save the RAWK from the evil forces of dance-pop. And rap, because as any good metalhead knows, rap is just crap without the C.
How are you going to do this? By transforming. In a good way, I mean, because you're getting EDGIER and RAWKINER. How so? By turning into...
What more do you need to know? Go buy this game right I mean go ask your mom to buy you this game. Go ask your mom to buy it for you
right now. Then go play it, and fantasize about Judy Nail's melons while you jerk off a fake plastic guitar to the sweet, sweet sounds of Dragonforce and... Nickelback.

this thread is doing to guitar hero threads what guitar hero 5 did to kurt cobain etc etc
God, I remember being psyched about new Guitar Heroes coming out. This one? I don't even want the demo.

Anyway, still no Pig Hero commercial up on youtube. Guessing they actually didn't do Risky Business this time.
At one point, Rock Revolution had a thread.
Though that could have been more "merciful pity" than "disdain."

The Phoenix Games thread.
Two lighters up.
That's right, I said lighters. I'm not switching to lit cell phones like the rest of those modern rock audience pansies. I want a form of tribute that's capable of causing injury, dammit.
But it's not that bad.
As long as you stop playing before the whole thing starts to look like a Halloween display at Hot Topic.
I never understood this
Lighters or cell phones
But I don't really get concerts either so whatever
How... I... what? Really?

Same here. That was... A thing.
Did they even work on the lip sync at all? I mean that's all I was really interested in with this iteration of the series; realistic swine harmonics.
Yes
I've seen the ad on Comedy Central, so I know it exists.
Then again, I've seen it once. Bobby Kotick's huge marketing push, indeed.
Live versions of songs almost universally sound worse, and you have to pay exorbitant prices for the privilege of going to a huge place with a bunch of people there...?
I don't know, I just don't get it. It's probably one of those things you just need to experience I suppose, but I'll never be in a rush to (and certainly not at the prices most concerts tend to be).
A good concert is all about the experience. Having a huge crowd of people all there to enjoy something, and having the band and the crowd getting each other energized and excited; it's quite something. You really do have to experience a good concert to understand what it's all about.
Also, live versions aren't always worse. A good live performance can have a life and energy to it that's literally impossible to achieve in the studio.
I mean, if you legitimately don't get the appeal, I guess that's that; it's just strange to me.
Sounds like someone's never seen a concert recording of Pearl Jam or Muse before...

Considering the prices of tickets and some of the shitty things people do when they go to concerts (Dimebag Darrell, Woodstock '99), it's probably not wrong to begin to think that going to a show might not be worth it.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
However, a lot of songs sound much better live than they do recorded. Metallica's S&M is probably one of my favorite albums, and after listening to The Memory Remains on it, I literally can't listen to the original recording of it because it sounds so much slower and dull-er.

Warriors of Rock is an out and out stinkburger. I gave it a rent yesterday and it completely sucked the life out of me 2 hours in.
The 2112 piece is kinda nice, I guess. It would have been more nice if it wasn't being performed by haunted house rejects.
...
...you know how I'm endlessly telling Maximumzero to buy Rock Band? I'm now going to endlessly tell you to go to a live concert. It's that kind of situation.
you don't have to go see someone play at the megadome or whatever
Unless someone is resurrecting the other half of The Beatles and The Who
That's... quite an achievement.
Isn't UV mostly into Pop? I could see concerts not being appealing, as its just lip syncing and dancing. Same with hip hop, its like 20 guys on stage screaming at each other. (Hollywood undead sucks in this regard to. Its a bunch of old men on stage sounding bad)
But good rock music? Check out some pearl jam live stuff.
Oh, and recommending somebody listen to live versions of songs instead of actually going to a concert is like telling somebody to watch golf on TV instead of really learning how to play. A recording of a live show is still only half of the experience of being there.
For example, I could listen to a version of The Who's Quadrophenia live from the '96 tour, but that wouldn't compare to the memories of actually going to the show, seeing the movie they played between songs, Gary Glitter, Billy Idol, Jason Bonham on drums and the best damn concert I've ever seen.
Or a couple of years later seeing Marillion in a venue that barely holds 300 people during a heatwave that was 90 degrees at the start of a 8p show. A show that was the first of a North American tour where they hadn't been for at least seven years. A tour that was partially paid for by fan donations (they still lost $20,000). Of course, I could listen to a copy of the album they released to commemorate that tour, one of fewer than 1500 copies ever made, but it's still not quite the same as the memories of being there.
(Seeing Pink Floyd in '95 was also awesome.)
Vow, you kind of brought this on yourself. But ultimately, going to a show is about the event. The experience of being there. You should try to see shows of your favourite artists. Especially if they're the kind that put on elaborate dance shows and shit. Sure, you could watch the videos on TV, but it's still not quite the same thing.
Plus, watching it on TV is less likely to get you some from a date than actually taking them to the show... Just sayin'.
Now, can we get back to wondering just how awesome GH: Manbearpig will become?
Do not engage the Watermelons.
edit: Shows are a big deal to a lot of people. It's why people freak out when Guided By Voices or Pavement do those reunion shows.
One band I really like and got to see before they signed with a major label, I can't go see anymore. They tend to tour with the other acts on their label who suck hard and I refuse to give my money to.

Wait don't you love Lady Gaga? And you don't want to go to her show? You know how epic her show is right? Or is the Lady Gaga love all playing a character on the internet?
