So, there are three things I'd like to do, which will take up the next 2-3 years of my life. But I have no idea what order to do them in. For all of these, I already know where I'm going, how I'm paying for it, etc.
Thing 1: Going back to school to get a trade certificate. This will take about a year, and get me a job that I like which also pays well.
Thing 2: Intensive kung fu training. This will take about six months. I've been doing martial arts for a few years now and it's incredibly fun. With all the other stuff shifting about in my life these days, it's a good time to take a few months and go to a long kung fu camp.
Thing 3: Immersive language Program. This will also take about six months. I've been learning a foreign language for about a year, and would like to become more fluent while seeing some other parts of the world.
The problems: I want to do school first so that I have means of income when I come back from the other stuff. But I hear terrible things about the effects having a "Gap Year" has on employment, and I worry this will be especially bad when I am starting a new career.
For various reasons, I am out of shape and out of practice for kung fu. because of this I'd like to wait six months to a year before doing the camp, so I can get back in shape and actually make progress at the camp.
That's it. I have no idea what order to do these things in where I won't end up shooting myself in the foot. Thanks a lot.

I don't know where you're planning to go for your foreign language training, but I HIGHLY recommend Middlebury Summer Language School. It's 9 weeks or so and an incredible experience. It's a bit pricey but not that hard to get into. It does mean you'd be waiting a bit for that part, though.
I took kung fu for about 15 years, taught it for a bit. You can really do that at any time easily. If you want to get in shape, I strongly (really, really strongly) recommend you do that on your own time. The camps can be nice, but martial arts isn't very effective for getting in shape. It is amazing for staying in shape, don't get me wrong, but for getting your body where you want it to be, there are many more options you have available to you. Find a gym (I liked 24 hr fitness myself) and they can set you up with your specific goals in mind. You'll get in shape, and that's when I would recommend doing the camp. Otherwise, you're more likely get injured in the process. Take if from the guy with 15 years, 2 bad knees, a bad back, a screwy ankle, and a shot shoulder under his belt.
