So, uh, I'm watching Milkfat's stream and he bought a Doran's Blade on Ryze.
what is this I don't even
Trolled? That doesn't even make sense. I've bought a Malady before, but never a Doran's Blade on Ryze.
welp, he just complained about having the blade and not the ring and it's his first time on ryze
still, pretty funny

Blades for mages, rings for tanks, shields for phys dps! :P
Fair enough for him.
He's really face rolling on Veigar right now.
Their pants is so fed right now
Watching for a second, pants ends up 1v4, and ryze is almost in range, his ult already used, then it lags. Next thing I see is their whole team rolling onto a tower with a 20% HP pants.
Finally had a good game with Swain. 8/0/9. The opposing team started to intentionally feed us when I was around 5/0/6. Totally threw the spotlight's advice out the window in regards to torment and item builds. Liking him alot better after ignoring Phreak's advice.
And I'm waiting the incoming nerf to Swain's Ultimate timer. That shit is crazy insane short. Yes it eats mana like a hog but you can burst initiate with it and turn it off and be ready to go again in no time.

To clarify, milk's team got utterly annihilated by Dan's team, which has multiple good players. It wasn't close to even at any point in time, and Dan himself destroyed them (initiated 1vX, dove multiple towers in a row and escaped, etc).
I've never really felt annoyed by an enemy team having a Vlad. Maybe it's just me playing him so much I know his weaknesses and timing.
Healing reduction and a good snare/stun will f' him up hard in a teamfights. He's also weak to harassment pre lvl7 or so.
That is a lie. His transfusion does not take that long to ramp up. 5 or so at the latest and then he is unharassable and will also start regenning to full after any minor skirmishes.
Tristana and Kog'Maw can deal with him quite easily, but like any character in middle, you're very unlikely to actually kill him. Buy a Negatron Cloak after your first bluepill. I have just taught you how to force vlad into a very static role (magic resist ruins his shit), forcing his transfusion off you, and onto creeps. If he tries to harass you with transfusion, just attack him - you'll return more damage than he can handle. He'll go for a Haunting Guise, just finish your level 2 boots and keep buying those Doran's Blades, or stick with your normal build.
Don't tell anyone else, though, k?

Does anyone play Twisted Treeline? I've been trying it out for the last few games for variety's sake. It seems a bit duller. But what are some of the key strategies? Who's good and who's bad? Last two games I used Taric and Yi and they both seemed reasonable.

My top Anti-Vlad tips:
1. Early Vlad is easy Vlad. Yes, he scales very quickly in mid game. This is all the more reason to use, say, Panth + Garen (I once left laning phase 8/0 with that combo in an in house, and could have been higher but I began to feel terrible) to kill him at level 2.
2. Grab Ignite, use it relatively late in the battle. Any / all DOTs are nice, and the rare attacks that attack in his blood pool like Fiddle's Drain as nice too.
3. Bait his blood pool. He can do up to 800 damage to himself, and the cooldown ranges from "longer than I'd like," to "only the oldest vampires lived to tell the tale of the last time it was up." Start counting down your seconds of time during which he has no CC or escapes.
4. CC is key. Stunned Vlad doesn't heal or escape. You can kill a Vlad from 4000 HP with 250 armor and 200 MR in the duration of a single CC train with the right team composition.
--
5. Offense item Vlads are bad Vlads. Burn them down.
6. Force a level 1 blue buff fight if you have the team comp for it. Vlad is worthless in level 1 team fights. He's barely better in the best player in the world's hands than AFK due to low damage and high cooldowns.
7. Buy MR. If you have Sorc boots and no other items and you complain about Vlad, uninstall.
8. Morgana is great vs. Vlad. Her Dark Shield absorbs his damage handily and it bugs out his ult, preventing it entirely while costing no durability, her ultimate stuns him in pool form, etc. She's just damn good vs. Vlad.
9. Have an anti-tower dive plan. He towers dives early and often if well played. Pay attention to his blood pool.
10. Play Vlad. Seriously, the very best way to beat any character is to play them for several games. Knowing a characters attack animation, range, cooldowns, mana costs, etc, vastly helps when fighting them.
11. Finally, if you're not playing against me, you got off easy. :P
Feel free to ask any specifics about him. I consider myself the resident Vlad and anti-Vlad expert (killing Vlad as WW is fun and so much easier than you'd think).

unrelated note: is there a general consensus on how to rune for warwick? right now i have armor pen reds, dodge yellows, attack speed blues and health quints (attack speed quints would probably be better but i'm cheap with IP) but those don't feel optimal
My WW runes are thusly:
Quint: HP
Red: ArPen
Yellow: Flat Armor
Blue: Flat cooldown
I personally favor a strategy that relies very heavily on jungling and cooldowns (Q needs to be as fast as possible for champion fights). I also like to Baron very early (usually busy at 15, but <20 minutes) and often, with as few people as possible (2-3 even early game, though I've soloed him once when particularly fed). I've actually had a pubber exclaim aloud at my level 13 two person Baron kill. (I itemize Wriggle's, Merc Treads, maybe Heart of Gold, then Madreds, starting with the attack speed item).
Unfortunately, even knowing an opposing hero doesn't help you in certain matchups.
I remember the time my team forced me to 1v1 Vlad as Gangplank. That was hilarious. And by hilarious I mean fffffeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrtttttttttt.
Yeah. Some laning compositions are just terrible. Veigar vs. XZ is a good example from tonight. The veigar was only summoner level 16, but a character who can teleport through his stun while slowing him, knocking him up, and tanking the tower is a bad matchup.
Speaking of Vlad I just had a charming 3v3 match where my two partners insisted on trying to solo him even after they'd already fed him. I went 8/3/8 or something as Taric and my teambros had about 20-30 deaths between them, most of them going to Vlad. It did not go well.
Saying fuck it and going pure AP as Vlad reaching 666 exactly after AP and HP elixirs was an exercise in fun.
Q'ing for 700 every 2 seconds (and healing ~200 something) on top of everything else is just liberating.
I did something similar last game. I bought an early Majai's (for vlad players, if you go early majai's, picking it up before you build Rylai's but after your sorcs shoes and Blasting Wand or, Haunting Guise) and had five stacks after a quick visit to top lane. 6 Stacks after stopping at bottom, and another 2 after coming back to middle. I always abuse sidelanes as Vlad in normal queue, but having ghost and flash over ignite or exaust makes it so much easier to use pool aggressively.
Ended 15/1/12, and only died once because I wanted to see if I could successfully towerdive Ashe at level 14 with around 18 stacks (I could ). It was early on I knew I could be reckless, they would feed me again. But our speds top lane actually cost us 2 towers in top and middle, kind of stressing me out for a while. Almost picked up my first Pentakill. It's just so hard to get at 30.
I feel like the REAL key to vlad is understanding that quicksilver sash can save you from spending money on tank or MR items. I mean, don't be stupid, if you face and annie and annivia, well, you're going to have to buy Force of Nature or Banshee's veil, too, but having ghost, flash, and quicksilver sash allows you to escape (and kite) pretty much anyone who can control you over in team fights, and Vlad's mid-game strength really allows him to spend some extra gold without concern for the loss in damage.
I always liked Vladamir, but I feel he really shines with ghost and Flash , because you can position yourself for AoEs, pools, and, get extra harass with Qs while keeping your bounty. Holding your bounty is a really important aspect of league of legends that, I feel, many players (stupidly) ignore. And perhaps that is one aspect where vlad is a little overpowered, he's really, really hard to actually kill if you're playing right.

Fuck I love Shen so much. Oh, you ran back to your tower and are feeling pretty safe standing behind it, huh? Wonder why I'm still coming at you? Oh, oops, taunt dash + vorpal blade to the face, feint the tower hit, dead tower hugger, Flash into the blue yonder.
Be annoying the whole beginning of the game, then they all focus you in the late game. Which is such a terrible idea. They'll figure that out during the last teamfight, of course (the one where you ace them), and when the squishy they target gets low, oops! Shen ult.
Only problem is that a lot of people don't seem to realize that they're shielded when my ult is on them.
As you've noticed (and mentioned many times ), this patch is a lot smaller than many of our updates. This is mostly due to us focusing on setting up WCG and preparing for the next patch after this.
The good news is that our following update is going to be pretty massive, both on the balance and content end. This includes;
* Several weak character buffs and reworks that have been long-awaited
* Significant balance changes to characters that are less "high-pri."
* Nerfs to characters deemed as "must-pick/ban." (Some high-A-Tier)
* A lot of content, especially on the art front.
I'd love to give more specifics, but an invasion fleet from a far-away world could come and assimilate Zileas and myself, causing a delay on a particular item. Or, it could break in testing. Weird **** happens sometimes
Thanks for your patience everyone.

"Tower of Lahja"
"??"
"Gotta save Irene."
And that use is in ARAM mode! With so many people so clustered all the time it's brutal.
It's the gimmicky sort of thing that only works well in ARAM though, much like AP Sivir.
