    Man.

I played a decent game in terms of I didn't suck. I was playing on Metalopolis against a Terran, pushed aside an odd 6 Marine + bunker attempt just after I got my 4 gate going, went over to the base, had some trouble with the wall off so I backed up, started my expo and built pylons outside his ramp and built up a few more forces. He came out a minute later with like 10 marines, a marauder or two and two siege tanks which I destroyed with like 15 chargelots. Having 10 more harvesters before the expo even kicked in = good.

With that force dead, I attack, bust the wall, pillage and what not. But he flew his CC away. Fine, totally legit desperation move. This was at ~11-12 minutes.

The game went on another 20 minutes and he made one additional unit from a starport that also got away. He had enough minerals to hide his SCVs while I was destroying his base, partially from dropping 4 MULES when he landed his CC, to build 3 additional command centers and then fly them away, hiding one in the corner. Only the one landed and I found it at like 14 minutes, after i finished off the rest of his base. I expect a GG and send one and get "Not yet." Two I shot down before they landed. And it took me forever to find the last one. Apparently if you see a flying building it doesn't show up in the fog of war so the one time my obs got near it before my phoenixes found it I wasn't looking at the minimap.

I had 13000+ minerals by the end. And he kept trying to get me to drop, or claiming he was going to take a nap. Obnoxious. If there's no CC on the ground for 30 seconds you should get revealed

So I got beaten by someone floating their CC into my base and morphing it into a PF...that was embarrassing. Luckily it wasn't on Day9. Anyways, what's the best way with dealing with a lot of Ultralisks (as Protoss)?

P.S. I think my name on the forums would definitely be a pokemon, but my name in Starcraft 2 (Topp) would be a really shitty drug or something of that nature.

EDIT: Aren't corruptors pretty good against VRs? Not that you can get them out quickly, but there really isn't a whole you can do against charged up voids.

Immortals murder ultralisks. Zealots can tank them pretty well, but mind the banelings.

ya know, I keep hearing over and over again that zealots do well against ultralisks. i have no idea where this rumor started and why it persists because ultras always rape my chargelots regardless of how many i have.

I remember feeling like that. After I did them and got placed, I was so excited. I still feel apprehensive about playing ladder sometimes (ok, alot), and I totally thought it was just me who felt apprehensive about pressing the find match button.

Really though, this is goofy of us isn't it? I mean, it's just a game...only the most important game ever! O_____O

But seriously, I need to press that button more, every time I do I have a blast.

Next time this happens, grab a worker and just sit below their command center so they can't land it. Someone tried this on me and I did just that and it was SOEZ

so i've been dicking around with the unit tester and man, mass hydras are crazy good against gateway units. zealots do really well against them in even numbers up to a point but then just get demolished. 20 hydras will beat 10 zealots and 10 stalkers (though barely).

of course, HTs hard counter em pretty fierce

I keep on trying to advocate for DTs. Even when detected, they ruin people pretty fierce.

Obviously don't try to get them detected. But they are still (faster) double DPS zealots.

Edit: Should have gone on the ultralisk quote, whoops.

I totally just wanted to post in this thread to say that the last thread title got me to check out Day9's channel and I love it. I've never even played SC but he's entertaining, and also is enticing me to maybe pick up SCII...

But yeah, the quote referenced in this thread's title made me laugh. I've always played similar games in online games.

    Attention everyone!

It's been three months now since SC2 has been released and I've had 300 people add themselves to the OP friends list. Problem is that the list is filled with people that simply don't play the game anymore. That being the case, I just deleted the entire thing (minus the people who just signed up).

Please make sure you add yourself again. Do so by clicking here. Don't forget to read the entire form when inputting information, especially the battle.net ID part. Let's try and avoid email entries this time, k?

Edit: Not to be too obnoxious, but I'm probably going to have to repost this every couple of pages...you know like every hour or so due to the rate this thread moves. :D

Phoenix are abusive against mutas (and completely shut down ravens/banshees). They do surprising well against vikings too. A phoenix will actually beat a viking at even upgrade levels, while being twice as fast and way more flexible. (In practice though, viking hunting isn't viable due to terran ground support.) If it weren't for reactors and how much more gas intensive protoss is, I'd say that phoenixes are strictly superior to vikings.

The bug with them really, really sucks though.
Edit: Put another way, if terrans had phoenix instead of vikings, every other race would be completely boned.

I keep hearing that Phoenix shut down mutas, but I haven't seen it in action. And I didnt think that phoenix's would beat vikings straight up... I mean, that would make them the strongest light anti-air, air unit in the game, and it just doesn't feel that way, although, i barely use them, and have often been wrong before.

(and ravens/banshees/broodlords dont count - they can't shoot back)

but yeah phoenixes EAT mutas alive, they're better in literally every conceivable way: faster moving, fire while moving, more than double muta's damage, lower attack cooldown, 1 more range. phoenixes shut mutas down almost as badly as thors do--at least you can sometimes out micro the thors (though with marine support you're fucked).
