I just build a new PC and it's working just fine, but on start up the DVD drive keeps on ejecting itself or if I leave it ejected on a restart it closes itself.
By the way, if you eject and you reset/restart/power down, it should close on its own I believe. I don't know about opening on its own, though...that seems weird.
well there might be something inside of the disk drive blocking it from closing all of the way that happened to me one time and it took me a week to find the damn piece of paper that was blocking it ( assuming i only looked for ten minutes each day)

you think so? Why would that make it open on boot only though?
You know when you stick your fingers in the CD tray to stop it from closing(or opening for that matter), and it gives up after a few seconds and goes back to being open? Well, when the computer turns on and it's not closed 100 percent, it re-opens itself so that it doesn't exert too much pressure and snap itself off.
also I just realized the drive only opens if I right click the drive and select EJECT. It didn't act like this on the first couple of boots. I just tried to air spray it, but nothing.
Man, Kewop, you're just not having very much fun with your new PC, are you? I went through the same thing not to long ago. Bad motherboards and memory and so forth. Almost was enough to make me just give up on computers all together.

Did you try reinstalling the DvD driver?
yep, still opens on boot.
It probably won't help, but y'never know.

EDIT - Well, I switched the DVD to another drive bay, thus disconnecting the wires and now it is no longer possessed.
