Well from the videos it seems a lot of his minions are still quite loyal, but the castle itself or something else is possessing them, and causing them to turn on him.

Some surprisingly good voice acting from Richard Madden as Alucard in Mirror of Fate.
I always go into these things expecting the worst from celebrities as a general rule.
apparently there will be a short movie in los2 which details what happened in los1 and MoF for those who haven't played either.
Oh, good thing I read this after I bought the game this morning ;-)
Actually, I'm having a lot of fun with it. I like how they tied elements of the previous games into it.
For instance, the spirit of Belnades was a welcome surprise. My favorite raster egg so far was Richter's SotN outfit in the alcove by the Combat Cross.
Actually I think thats supposed to be Trevor's outfit from this game.
Talking about the green coat, right?
I thought it was blue. Now that I've GIS'd MoF Trevor, it makes more sense that it would be his. I guess I'm not too far into the game, then. I'm playing as Simon and clearing out all the secrets after getting the CC.

Aye, did that last night myself. Was a satisfying bit of backtracking. Be sure to use the teleporters in the library, some of the natural entrances and exits seem to become harder or impossible to access at that point.
Just started Alucard's chapter, starting to feel like this game got abit of a bum rap. I'm enjoying it quite abit although I can see how it might be divisive like all LOS products.
The flea men are hilarious (referred to as hunchbacks in the beastiary). Showing chupacabras and goblins how the comic relief canon fodder thing is done.
video details and shows off the stealth sections, i think its in german and i have no idea what the hell is going on for the first 9 minutes and the first 20 seconds is like a bad acid trip. but footage kicks in around 9mins.
yeah but at this point its expected that people who get games early generally are, it one of the laws of nature.

You know, I always thought the vampirism
turned Gabriel evil but Alucard seems fine aside from the occasional feasting on succulent merman neck.
Doesn't really feel like they ever really got across that Gabe has a dark side in Lords of Shadow. They talk about it in his bio and the zebok narrations but largely, he's pretty much a saint going from town to town being a mensch.
He's a good guy. I could definitely see why he would turn bad, the brotherhood certainly fucked him and his fellows over something fierce but feels like the game could have used more moments of something like him jamming vampire killer into monster's skull while they beg for mercy. Like Gabe never got the character arc he needed. He got the motivation definitely but doesn't feel like we actually got to see him evolve much.
I listened to just about every track on there and only found one slight use of Vampire Killer in the last 30 seconds of the battle against Satan track.
Not to be a debbie downer, but that playlist someone linked to for LOS 2 didn't have any Bloody Tears or Vampire Killer.
So my question is:
- Are they even in the game or did the uploader just not post them?
it was only ever mentioned that "classic" tunes were getting put in but they didn't mention what kind of context that would be.

Well if that's the case. Than any hint of the classic tunes is incredibly subtle. I let the playlist play in the background and listened to each one while I worked. Not a hint of anything recognizable at all. Which is a real, real shame.
I think another missed opportunity with this game is the lack of the obvious combat survival DLC package. Dracula in his throne room, fighting against a couple waves of would be vampire hunters followed by a >insert name< Belmont boss. With a generation passing in between each Belmont but just as a game mechanic Dracula's health can't regenerate outside of in combat bites.

could still be in the full game, the playlist might not be the full in-game soundtrack, just the cd ost.

Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears are the sorta songs that sell CDs en masse. If they're not on there then they are definitely not in the game.
You know what's kind of amazing? Mirror of Fate is basically a re-imagining of Castlevania, SotN and Castlevania III all wrapped into one.
And it is fucking glorious.
The fight with Gabriel as Alucard, Simon fighting at your side, was so god damn good.
I'm into Act III now and I'm really enjoying the hell out of this. It needed a bit of polish to make it as good as it could have been, but I'm still a major fan. I mean, if I take off the nostalgia glasses, I put this right there with SotN. I doubt many people agree with me, but it really is a hell of a lot of fun, and I didn't see the Act II/Act III stuff coming. I also didn't read anything about this game beforehand.

Darksiders II had something like this, it was an arena called "the crucible". Wave based and got harder and harder with a special boss at the end. Went up to 100 waves but you could quit at intervals of 10 or 5, I forget and collect rewards that scaled with waves completed.
Still one of my favorite part in a videogame. I'd love for a Castlevania equivalent.

I don't believe the music box version of Vampire Killer was on any of the soundtracks for the original game, insofar as that goes

On the other hand, I think I heard just enough of that particular version of the song in-game.

Man, I hope they leave room for a Alucard spin off.
Guessing Dracula will be dead as hell by the time the credits roll.

I'm not gonna lie.

Now I'm kicking myself for missing the 7.50$ deal on Lords of Shadow.

Polygon has a little write up about the game with comments from David Cox.

There are a few very positive reviews from some european magazines
Video Gamer (french magazine) gave it a 17/20
Play Mania (spanish magazine) gave it 95/100
also a finnish games magazine called Pelaaja gave it a 9/10

spoilers, clearly.

How the hell am I supposed to beat this guy if I can't just spam/cheese ultimate light and shadow on his big toe?
I just want to kill generations of Belmonts over and over for a change.

I'd even bet they pull an ending where the two reconcile after Satans defeat.
Wait...what?
It is well-known that the dairy farmer fighting style is not sufficient for fighting most of the forces of darkness.
Awww shiiit.
Trevor and Alucard both have their own.
Al's is called Daaaarrkkk paaaiiiin. You can feel the pathos of man while holding it in your hands.
How appropriate, you fight like a... cow?
I'm not sure if that's what they were going for there or not, seems something like it though.
Combat Crosses are pretty much Brotherhood standard issue.
Gabriel's was special because it was the original one made by Gandolfi and the only one capable of using his upgrades.
And it had a vampire killing stake on the end of it. Hence the name...
