I'm pretty sure they do. I have no idea what systems they have in place to ferret people like this out. Like I said, reporting him might get the spotlight to focus.
They allowed it in Halo 3.. there was some celebrity dude that did boosting early on, and Bungie was all "yeah it's cheesy but we won't ban anyone for it."
All it earns him is a shiny icon next to his name, there's no reason to get up in arms about it.
I'm not really angry about it, but I like to consider medals to actually be the true indicator of achievement in Halo. It's cheapened when people 'boost' it. =/
Reach is way too cheesy. Might as well just give up and go back to K/D.
Many players in Reach are cheesy. Let's call it like it is here. ;p

The problem with having armor lock allowing the team to disarm a bomb is when more then one person uses armor lock to disarm it. If they have two people you can't stop them unless you manage to kill the second person but he could easily hide until the first persons armor lock goes off. Now times that by two if the whole team is using armor lock.
I really like assault and haven't even had a chance to play it yet (at least as much as I would like), just neutral bomb from what I remember.
If a second person is able to get close enough to your objective to hide and enter to chain AL like that, the problem is with your team, not armorlock. If their entire team gets on your object to defuse it, it's a given that it should be defused or capped.
edit: I say this because I have been able to do just that. AL on an objective after my mates have shaved off time. Either I don't get engaged as I approach, or I janitor'd them (their team) and I should be able to get it regardless.
In their video, they let the guy waltz right in on top of it.

I don't think it's any different to being able to AL and capture the objective in Invasion, I'm sure its intentional, You have to be able to survive the grenade spam somehow.
If we're complaining about anything, I wish the capture the flag and territories game types in BTB had a clock in them, to decide the winner in the event of the draw, I hate draws!
Posted this in the other thread, but it's worth posting here too.
Bungie have changed the way Commendations work in Campaign now too
"You can earn up to the Silver level of Campaign Commendations outside of matchmaking. After that, you will need to play Campaign in matchmaking to make any further progress."
From here.
This will stop allot of the cheesing/boosters, I do feel kinda bad i didn't cheese when the cheesing was good, but hey, its better in the long run.
With reference to the Assist challenges, I can only speak for myself, but i find Invasion is the best game type for assists, specially with the needler and grenades, I always seem to get loads in that game type.

I generally stink at getting assists. I think it's because I am usually the 3rd person to the old shootout party.
I really hate the way they give out assists, it is horrible and giving me a medal for it does not make up for the bad system. I can put 3 DMR shots into a guy and someone else can put two into him and I don't get the assist. I have a lot of games where I just play support and I will put a couple shots into enemies while my someone with a better angle will finish them off. I get no credit for that at all. I have games where I do pretty good but might die to a sniper or something a bunch, go -2 and not even get the assists to show I was doing anything.
I don't really care about that, but they should be able to measure how much you helped your team, not just how many shields your dropped that someone else got the kill of.
Assists work fine.. most of the time it gives credit to the right guy, the fringe cases really aren't worth sweating. It's a lot better than handing out assists like candy, giving one to every person who's ever damaged a target.
Halo 2 kept track of how many shots you fired and how many times you hit, which I guess they should have kept in. It was always nice to see a high hit percentage.
It's 5 seconds after you individually dealt over 75% damage to a person/their shields... from test videos. If a bunch of people hit the same person, it's unlikely that you'll get an assist out of it.
There's videos that test it with the DMR.

Yeah, 60% of damage seems alittle bit steep
I hope they change it.
But it's not like the game can actually measure how well you did.
If I grab the rockets and run towards my team and die, my team still has the rockets but to the game the only thing I've accomplished is dying
no system could completely monitor skill / helpfulness
Short form: to score an assist, deal 40% of the damage on a subsequently killed player before their shields can recharge to 95%, or before they can stay safely out of fire for five full seconds. url=http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?cid=28836]Source[/url

anyone else notice a new medal in the medal chest for firefight? Called 'Wildcat Destabliizer' and is awarded for destroying a generator. Looks like a new gametype is on the way

Ooh, versus Generator Defence? That was kinda cool in the beta.

The beta had generator defense as a small team competitive game.. it was used to test network code (to improve problems that ODST had, I presume).
I could see them putting it in, it wasn't a whole lot of fun in the beta though.
ya, I remember. It was pretty terrible and laggy in the Beta. I saved a screen shot where I had literally 9 needles in my visor but they never combined. I bet the guy was pissed when I charged him with the shotgun and won.

It's for Versus Firefight, which isn't in the MM pool yet.
The clutch quotient definitely exceeded normal operational parameters. But today we were each a deadly blade and there were moments of breathtaking synergy as the serried ranks of our foes were cut down by the weight of our fury like so much wheat before the reaper's scythe.
I'm saying we were pretty boss, yo.
Gaz3142, what time do you play? The American/Australian crew and myself tend to rock the 10-pm - 6am shift. (GMT)
Sadly I'm in work from 11pm-7am GMT most days (although technically we're on BST until the clocks go back :P ). But I'll look to hook up with y'all on my off days, that was some good Invasion we had the other day.

Well just ran through Tip of the Spear again. Two commendations and a challenge done for over eight thousand cR at the end of the level. Going to play MM for a bit to make sure it takes.

Oh fuck you Willeth. We could be co-oping one of the four missions I have left.
I'm kind of burned out on standard Slayer/CTF/Headhunter games. What other gametypes should I try out?
Invasion can be really fun if you co-ordinate a little bit with your team. I like the shift in fighting styles as the round progresses.
Invasion is fun, but it's hardly ever chosen when I'm in a big party.
Is Multi-team the arena thing? Not a big fan either, since there's always going to be the pair of douchebags who camp out while hoarding shotguns and swords.

Assault is the same basic game mode, and doesn't require you to babysit a fragile machine.
