Posting cause it's a City of charity drive for among other things Child's Play, also I happen to know for a fact that a bunch of costume codes will be going up for auction.
The Real World Hero - City of Heroes charity drive has started again, running from Friday, November 19, 2010 to Saturday, January 1, 2011. Last year over $10,000 was raised for charities and this year they're looking to outdo that number. There will also be an auction starting on December 1st with items donated from several companies and players including Paragon Studios.
100% of all donations made through RealWorldHero.com will go directly to these non-profit organizations.
With your support, RealWorldHero.com will aid the following charities this holiday season:
Operation Gratitude - Sending over 100,000 care packages annually filled with snacks, entertainment items and letters of appreciation to U.S. Service Members deployed in hostile regions, their mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member's face and express to all our armed forces the appreciation and support of the American people. (Tax ID 20-0103575)
Donate Games - Founded upon the belief that people can change the world by simply donating their unwanted video games, Donate Games is a charity dedicated to funding research and support for children and their families of “orphan” diseases and the millions of Americans affected by them. Donate Games collects new and used video game donations and then resells them online to help the millions of young people suffering from these neglected disorders. (Tax ID 26-3438815)
Child's Play - A community based charity grown and nurtured from the game culture and industry. Since it's founding by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins of the online comic strip Penny Arcade in 2003, Child's Play has donated more than $5 million dollars in toys, games, books, and cash for sick children in hospitals across the U.S. and the world. (Tax ID 20-3584556)
Heifer International - Heifer International works to end the cycle of chronic world hunger and poverty and protect the earth. Through gifts of livestock, training and "passing on the gift," Heifer has helped more than eight and a half million families in more than 125 countries around the world improve their quality of life and move toward greater self-reliance since 1944. (Tax ID 35-1019477)
Do I look like the sort of man who'd go and find unsuspecting Japanese schoolgirls in short skirts and white panties and ask them if they want to see my "Cthulu Special"?
Wow, I didn't think there where any of the lvl 52 Hami-o's left.

1,283,066,129 is kind of a very specific payment amount and the last two digits aren't repeats so I seriously doubt it was unintentional. Dude was just jonesing for an extra .00something percent PvP effectiveness.
It's also possible that this person only recently came back and didn't know about the email upgrades. Before the upgrades, people used the Market as a bank if they ran up over the 2 billion inf cap; they'd put up bids on items that are (effectively) never traded (level 53 recipes, high level training origin enhancements). This was also a (risky) way of moving money around between characters. Have poor character A put up a level 50 training origin enhancement for sale for some stupid amount, then have character B pay for it.

Narbus, you win. I remember lots of people doing this very thing.

Had fun playing my gravity dom last night. I really wish (along with everyone else) that they'd fix the cast time problems associated with the set. It would be a billion times better.

Perhaps it's to prevent the set from actually being useful and popular so they don't have to worry about how to scale the servers to handle all the objects that keep getting summoned into existence all over the place.
Yes I am aware that it is part of the animation and the objects exist client side only.

Don't suppose they ever made Gravity animations faster? I love how the set looks, but blowing your one "big" damage attack only for the target to die before getting hit due to your animation taking 35 fucking seconds killed it every time.
[edit] And that's another pet peeve re: game. Either refund us energy and cooldown for attacks wasted on dead targets (we already wasted the animation time on them) or at least make them do funny physics shit with their corpse ragdolls.
so bought going rogue this morning to play over the thanksgiving holiday and boy are all the options a little overwhelming. i played back at the beginning for all of 2004 and part of 2005. Anyone mind giving any pointers on the massive amount of options in classes and powersets? please :P
Looks like that person did AE for majority of the week, and dabble into TFs only a few times.
Reading the thread, he did AE on the first day to get starting capital, then used the money to buy recipes on the market and sell the crafted IOs (with occasional recipe gambling on the side).
The problem with any guide like this one is that being as public as it is, its methods will most likely become overused swiftly and make its yields less impressive.

Do you like to solo or team more? Do like being support or damage? Are you okay with dying a whole lot?
was doing some reading on the coh forums and think a mastermind would be cool. wanna do necromancy and something i dont know yet for the secondary. but read that pet ai is kinda fucked up recently? are mastermind decent? any type better then another?

Don't listen to Kuribo's Shoe, Trick Arrow is one of the only sets I would call bad. It's definitely workable, but it still sucks and it doesn't combine well at all with Necromancy. I speak from experience with that particular combination.
Masterminds are awesome. Ninjas and Necromancy are kind of the bottom of the barrel though.
Don't listen to Fiaryn, either. Ninjas are single-target damage machines, which is both a blessing and a curse depending on your situation. Necromancy is the only MM set to get any real early AoE, making it quite potent.
However, I recommend you try one of the primarily ranged Mastermind sets. Ninjas and Necro require more work to be effective due to their melee-oriented focus. Mercenaries are a little bland, but solid all around (and are probably the true bottom of the Mastermind barrel); Robots are amazing, but have low damage early on; Thugs hit like freight trains, but aren't exactly what you'd call sturdy; and you really can't go wrong with Demons. The Pet AI issue is mostly that ranged henchmen will run into melee, which you generally don't want. It's annoying but not game-breaking.
If you insist on Necro through everything else, though, I would say that Dark Miasma, Pain Domination or Thermal Radiation would be quite good with it. Actually, I've taken a Necro/Pain Dom to 32 and it was quite a good, fun character.

Which does not conflict with the notion that the other MM sets are still better. :P
No, really, Ninjas and Necromancy are the bottom of the barrel. The ranged sets have just as good damage and often better survivability (before you consider that they're ranged) and Demons has a much better bag of tricks than Nin and Necro.

No, Mercs are definitely the worst. Ninjas and Necro are at least a step above it. The only advantage Mercs has is that all six of its henchmen are ranged, and that doesn't really make up for how terrible the Spec Ops are.
Bots are low maintenance and generally awesome. For secondary, I like either Dark Miasma or Force Fields. DM has a lot of powerful tools that fit most situations, and with FF you can just buff all your dudes and sleep through most missions (plus Personal FF is a nifty power).

They really should think about updating sets instead of just updating the animations and colors. Swap out some powers, change around cones/aoes etc. Not enough to fuck everything up, just bring the shittier sets up to par with the good ones.

Thats 1 billion....
for an enhancement....
that increases movement speed
(admittedly by 36.7 percent)
People are hella dumb.

Pretty much. Frivolously pissing away money is only acceptable when they're pissing it in my direction for silly things!
White FC: 0819 3350 1787
Can I do this? Can I say "fixed it for you"? Cause it's true.
Also, with a purchase that big there's always the possibility that someone added an extra digit to the total.
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
I can see that happening.
Do any of you see yourself plopping 1billion inf on an enhancement?

And Is the cap only 2 billion?

Mostly though, it's not. Oh, how I wish KB effects did something to dead bodies. Repel would finally be useful!

I see the high level MM's running around with their robots and demons and I immediately want to go get mine power leveled.
I think in between gorging myself today, I will level one of them up.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
Doesn't mean they can't work, CoX isn't that hard of a game, but thems the facts.
