I looked at the official forums to see if someone had a fire/fire build for me to steal and I had to go back like six pages in the tank forum to find one only it was for a brute for some reason
I took my level 8 Elec/earth into a team of mid 20's. I got him to level11 by the time I was done, and it was so god damn fun to see everything get knocked down every fuckin power.
I can't wait to see myself as the proper SortaConductor I can be!

I like aoe holds, but they aren't very useful until they're fully slotted and you have highend recharge, so there's no reason to take them early really

Also, you have a Chance to Confuse IO slotted into your confuse power? How's that work? (I really don't know and am curious to find out.)
Basically, the Coercive Persuasion proc adds a chance to pulse an AoE Confuse. When an enemy is hit with a power that has that proc in it, they have a 33% chance to pulse an autohit 20' radius, 10 second mag 3 Confuse with an AoE cap of five. Slotted as I have it, tagging someone with Confuse means there's a good chance at least one, and probably two, people next to them will also be confused. It's also helpful when trying to stack Confuse magnitude on an AV. Putting it in Mass Confusion, on the other hand, is pretty much a waste, because anyone this might hit would be catching the Mass Confusion anyways.
I guess it's old hat to bitch about cuda at this point, but after having a pretty good group wipe out on reichs because we had no MM/fender and not enough debuff, it makes me wonder why they haven't changed it.

Is it bad that I really only wanna go incarnate with one of my characters?

Ok, so I've been playing some Free-To-Play Champions Online, and then noticed CoH/V Rogue had a free 7 day trial which I started playing some.
What are the pros and cons of these two? From what I've played:
CoH
+ Heroes and Villains and Rogue characters, looks like more interesting PVP
+ Combat seems more solid and responsive
+ More classes and powersets
+ More interesting story, more stuff to do with groups?
- Harder to do solo stuff?
- Dated graphics and character creator not as advanced
- Not many people on? The starting Going Rogue area seemed pretty empty, on Virtue too
- Finding a name that isn't taken
Champions
+ Better looking graphics
+ Easier character creator with more options
+ Free, but limited version
+ Use any name you want
+ Easier to do solo
- Even with a paid sub, lesser amount of power types/character variety
- Combat feels loose, unresponsive
- Only heroes, PvP less interesting
Now some of this is from what I've seen, some I'm guessing at and might be wrong about. I just wanna get some thoughts instead of spending a lot of time on both instead of one.

I can't comment that heavily on Champions, but I'll touch on the naming thing briefly.
Yes, you can conceivably make a character to name-sit, for some weird reason. But it really forces you to get creative, which is of course, the entire point.
Also, it leads to shit like our collective love of Pun Names.
Like the one terrible pun of Obama which I always butcher and kill the punchline when he inevitably shows up to correct me, so I won't bother.
Also, Thesaurus.com will become your friend.

Thesaurus.com has been my friend for years.
I wanted Zenith. Zenyth was taken too. As was Zennith. I went with Zeenith but then hated myself.
So I tried Apex and Apogee. Then tried Excellion. Finally settled on Excellior. Decent name I guess.
He's an Energy Melee/Electricity Def Tech Brute. Kind of a smarmy jerk look. I'm enjoying all these Rogue missions.

there's a very helpful thread, if you play on Virtue, on the official forums where people post names of characters they are deleting or they happened to find free while name checking
i dunno my characters turn out with okay names
Victorious
High Explosive
Exact
Skydive
Metallic
United
Wild Master
Optimate
Blazar
Extremal
Star Player
Overhand
those are just some of my dudes
a few of those names came from me spotting in the Virtue character name thread on the official Virtue forums
They really ought to purge names more frequently, at least for characters below level 10 or that haven't played them since before global handles. I guess there's really no incentive for the company to do it, though.
I personally don't like pun names for the most part, and I don't really like the "verb noun" construction a la the megaman series. It usually takes me quite a while to come up with a name I'm satisfied with, but it's fun to have a truly unique name/concept for a guy.

I think it's pretty much the consensus that the PvP in CoH is not anything worth mentioning. And the character creation in each game has it's pros and cons; the Champions version is nice simply due to the ability to have tri-color costume pieces, but I think the CoH version has a lot more options open at the start of the game.

Rogues/Vigilantes/Preatorians aren't a separate side for PvP purposes. It's still Heroes vs Villains.
I wouldn't say it's harder to solo, but it mostly depends on your class and how you play. As a melee class (brute, tank, scrapper) yeah you can pretty much run through everything and everyone. As a ranged class, you're going to have to pick your targets and slow things down a bit.
Virtue is the second most populated server. Preatoria starting area might seem a bit empty because most people just power through the 1-20 content (which is all Preatoria is). There's plenty of PAers though that are coming back and going through the various storylines, and they usually don't mind teaming.
I guess it's old hat to bitch about cuda at this point, but after having a pretty good group wipe out on reichs because we had no MM/fender and not enough debuff, it makes me wonder why they haven't changed it.
We came close to wiping on Reichs last night, but two of us scrappers were able to juggle aggro on him until the tank got back up.
But that fight is absolutely no fun. He's just a giant sack of HP that takes forever to beat down. There's nothing interesting about that battle.

It's an interesting concept, with the different ATs getting different ways to weaken him and the whole needing to deal with additional things while still taking apart this AV. It's just ... really badly executed.
His damage is really screwy too. Dunno if someone gets a -damage ability or something, but I've tanked him just fine diddly fine sometimes, with him hitting me for peanuts, then suddenly I get hit for 1.3k a couple times in rapid succession and die. I have no idea how it works.
I really preferred the fight in Kahn, I let the tanker do his thing with Reichs and I offtanked the 4 heroes as they popped out. Good times.
We didn't have time to do it the other night, but I want to try having the team concentrate on reichsman while I tank the avs as they come in. lady grey might be a problem

IIRC, you can pull the AVs much further than Reichs will go. I guess you can pull them away down the hall while Reichs resets. We didn't have much trouble with the AVs, though. It's just Reichs' 1.3K whoppers that were a pain, plus his unending sack of HP.

I wouldn't hate the cuda reichsman fight if they'd just make the anti-phasing power available to everybody (maybe just let people pick glowies as in the sewer trial), or if the other ATs' powers made an equally meaningful contribution to killing him (fucking scirroco tornados, looking at you.) Classes already have a bunch of varied and interesting ways of weakening a thing; forcing composition like that is annoying, especially when they don't give you really any indication of what the necessary composition is.

Like I've mentioned before, the problem is that the baseline is too high. Reichsman should have started off in his 220k horror setup, rather than that plus godmodes, and then every AT should have gotten a crippling debuff - massive reductions in max HP, huge -resist, huge -damage, etc. The final state being that if you have all five kinds of debuffs on him, he's no different than your average Archvillain.
Instead, baseline Reichsman has 220k HP and all kinds of crazy shit going on, and then on top of that he's got a punishing end drain aura and an absurd intangibility godmode that you can take away with temps. That's no good at all.
Finished up a hecatomb set this morning, now to decide whether it goes in my fire/ice tank for more freezing touch uptime (and heal spam I guess), or my dom for 130% baseline global recharge...
Guess i'll have to try to make it home at a decent hour to do lady grey as well. Does that TF completion still spawn a rikti invasion each time?

Here is an alternate Mind/Fire/Ice that also seems quite capable. I really cannot decide which way is the better way to go.

My one question would be are you sure you want Total Domination at level 30? I'm not the expert but I think AoE holds are pretty great usually.
Also, you have a Chance to Confuse IO slotted into your confuse power? How's that work? (I really don't know and am curious to find out.)
EDIT:
