There was also a lady contact at the north end of KR, which you got at level 5 or 6 and had to dodge red and purple mobs for about a mile just to get there. Good times.

    AH HA!
That's the one I was trying to remember!
I was sitting here going "there's some other stupid part about KR, what was it?"
I had blocked it from memory, the experience of Powersliding down the exact middle of the street for over a mile just to get to the contact who would usually tell me "hey, the mission door is in Skyway. Good Luck schlub!" was that painful.
No wonder you guys hate BLU side so damn much.

The best (worst) was when your first contact would send you to the very north end of King's Row to meet your next contact, and the very first mission they would give you, every single time, without fail, was "Go speak to David Wincott in the Hollows!" so you had to sprint (level 5! no travel powers!) BACK to atlas, all the way across town, talk to David Dickhead, then sprint BACK across atlas and to northern king's row to get the first (actual) mission.

GOD I hated that so much. So incredibly much.

Well, that and I usually pick the bad side in any MMO :D (Freeport in EQ1/2, Horde/Undercity in WoW, Destro in WAR. In DAOC the closest I could get was Isle of Glass/Albion, which was pretty moody and boggy. I loved the music around Caer Gothwaite was pretty near perfect for that reason. Gave me shivers.

I actually kind of liked the back-in-the-day hollows. Running across the zone to those missions in the SE hills was an adventure, and because the game directed everybody to that zone, there were always lots of people running around. That, and the frostfire mission was great.

Not that it was good design of course, but I liked it.

I only liked the slides for the mission, frostfire not so much. Though I was I could pick a set where I can get imps and jackfrost.

How is Jack Frost as a pet, anyhow? The only pets I have any experience with are Imps, and they seemed unimpressive until I'd slotted them up, then they were suddenly awesome.

Jack is sorta like Venus from Plant/. He's not as tough as Stoney, not as damaging as the Imp Twins. Sort of middle of the road. But I prefer Venus because she can get slotted with Achilles Heel and LG neg energy proc, and is a bit less prone to wander off.

Slotted up, Jack will definitely help add damage and so forth, but yeah, he's lackluster without at least 4 slots. As they all are.

And one day, I hope to have a Plant/Dark Miasma Controller. If we can finally get inherent stamina, I say DREAM BIG!! :P

Frost is okay. Better than stony, but kind of lackluster compared to the imps.

Now that Stony has a promoted Seismic Smash it's not so bad. The Psi resist is fucking HUGE in some villain missions, too.

Stony also has punch-voke if I recall my Red Tomax correctly, so he can mini-tank well. Only pet that I recall who has inherent taunt.

Here's a question. Possibly stupid. How do you get a Halloween Tip Mission? Off any mob, like other tips. or something special? I heard the halloween tip mish is fun.

Do some trick or treating, get a temp costume, go trick or treating again in the costume. Don't worry about clearing normal tips, it'll appear as well as them.

Hasten used to be an inherent, way back when, y'know.

    In that everyone had it.

I remember the days when six-slotting Hasten was all it took make it perma.

For a month or so after launch, Hasten was permanent with one recharge SO.

We actually had someone threaten to quit the game when they changed it. :rotate:

If you trick or treat while wearing a costume, Halloween Tip missions will drop. There are five potential rewards you can choose upon completion, each with a corresponding badge. The fifth option is Hero/Vig and Rogue/Villain specific, and should you have one and then switch sides to choose the other the original will be overwritten. Bottom line, no more than five badges. Once you get all five you receive the Meticulous accolade which will grant you access to the Witches Hat costume piece from the Katie Hannon TF if you don't already have it.

    Words words words.

Okay, so question one: What costume? Do we all get to go around looking like charlie brown ghosts?
Question two: what are the rewards? just a badge or is it a reward table for some crappy enhancements?

    1. Any of the Halloween costumes or costume's given out at meet and greets
    2. there are five different rewards one for each badge, random rare recipe, random rare salvage, 100k inf, and two others I don't remember. You can only get each reward once though after that it just gives a random large inspiration

I've always said this! It looks like you're going to totally charge a bitch.

Oh no, you picked a Brute. I think Shield Defense is one of the few sets that is better on Scrappers, thanks to Against All Odds, and the lack of huge resistance powers that can reach the cap, or heals (which are of course better on Brutes with their higher HPs).

Fire Melee is better on Brutes though, thanks to Fury increasing their DoTs. Scrapper crits ignore them.

I hope you picked the fiery oh god on fire look my shield's made of fire shield. I heard good things about Dark Melee/Shield too, as the to-hit debuffs and Siphon Life gel well with Shield Defense's powers, while Soul Drain and Against All Odds combined are beautiful.

General advice though - take attacks attacks attacks at lower levels. Your chain will be full of gaps, and you're better off trying to gank things first rather than trying to outlast them. Slot for accuracy, recharge and endurance reduction. Don't bother with damage as a Brute, Fury can take care of that. Emphasis single-target at first, though I think the only AoE in Brute/Scrapper Fire Melee is tiny Fire Breath and then Fire Sword Circle at level... 28?
