hey guys can I get a resub code? Played this at launch, then quit, then again when CoV launched then quit.
After seeing all the changes I think I could have alot of fun playing this again.
I remember I stopped after launch because I had a stone/stone tanker and messed up the powers so bad I couldn't do anything solo, and I could never get a team to finish the respec task force so ended up taking a long break.

Don't solo as a Tanker unless you hate yourself. Even the best built Tanker solos pretty slow.

yeah by the late 20s or early thirties I couldn't out damage the health regen of equal mobs. Stone mallet took a ton of endurance at the time, and all my friends were serious but kickers with SS and fire tankers. My guy was just super durable. I think I'll dive into a defender or something of that sort this time.

I really didn't have problems with my WP/DM tanker when soloing. The only thing I didn't like was the only real AoE was a cone, but I could still solo just fine.

Oh god no don't roll a defender if you're looking for damage. They are terrible at damage. And everything else, really.

Awww, really? Lame. I was expecting hell from above. I've wanted an orbital cannon temp power for a while, like some mission where the Council made a super armored giant technodrome or something and you hunt down the keys to an orbital killsat and use it to blow a hole in the armor plating then run in and fight a dude.

    Man I gots PLANS.

One demon farm run, two purples (Rag and Apoc).

Oh, and I got a Regenerative Tissue +regen from a zombie during an invasion...I thought those were TF reward type recipes...

I've gotten two of those, both times from a random Warrior while street sweeping.

So one of the things that's annoying me about this event, is the fact I'm stuck with at least 5 costumes now, and can only assume I'll have even more. It's not that I want there to be less choices, I love that. I just wish there was a way to go " I clearly don't want to be a hellion when I can be a Freak Tank *delete costume*"

In other shocking news, Mr. Vitruvian might just hit 45 before this event is over! So uhhh...
How the fuck would I slot a SS/Inv Tanker for IO's? I literally know Perfect Zinger, and that's it.

Fire's survivability is all about healing. You want lots of recharge on that if you tend to run without a Tank or Brute to assist you.

I think you going +hp/recharge was smart.

If you go defense, you have to go for at least 30%, so it has to be a committed effort. Considering you have little defense to work with, I say forget about DEF.

Instead, I say just get Soul PPP/Shadow Meld for running into spawns when you don't have a purple; it has a long cast (3 seconds, which is why you cast it proactively) but gives you 30% slotted DEF all, a third of the time. Or more if you have lots of recharge (can easily be up half the time). Once you wipe out most of a spawn with your AoEs, you can let your heals take care of the rest of the incoming damage.

Addionally, Shadow Blast is an amazing, quick, high-damaging, little-resisted ranged attack that can easily help up your ST damage where Spines is weak.

But you know this, since its in your build :P I can't load it as is from work into Mids, but by all accounts, it appears you have done very much what I'd have done. Situational Defense, lots of available healing, decent resists, and increase ST damage. Is this still theory, or have you gotten your scrap into play already? I'm curious to hear how it plays out.

I made a first level character for City of Villians, Earth control/ thorny assault. Ninja themed.

It quickly got nom'ed on by zombies. They pwn my noob butt from here to Praetorian. Darwin's landing got zombie attacked today.

Last light was fun, I went Trick or Treating. Very cool. Got beat up by a Scorned Woman.

Anybody excited by the new Origin booster coming out? I am. Going to make cool toons out that one.:P

With no purples I have 50% recharge (120% w/ hasten up). That puts Shadow Meld being up between 1/2 and 1/3 of the time. Healing flames is between 12.6 and 16.3s recharge and healing 662.58 hp. The only way I know of to get more regen is w/ purples, and the damage set purples are far too expensive for me.

One thing I'm not sure on right now are my spines attacks. I have lunge, spine burst, quills, and ripper. I didn't notice until after I made the build that ripper has no real range to speak of. Is it worth Dropping something for Throw Spines? I'm thinking dropping Temp Protection, as I'm currently 31% over the fire res cap and only 11% to cold. That would also clear up the slots needed for Throw Spines. Or just switch ripper for throw spines? I like the range on throw spines, but I like the dmg and recharge (666 and 5 seconds w/out hasten. I think throw spines was 400 something with like 7 or 8 second recharge.

I also after looking at Lepwave's build that fire has no KB protection, that needs fixed in my build too.

Yeah, those zombies are geared up, in terms of resists and damage output and such, for people with access to SOs. Newbies tend to get bitten, which is what zombies do.

I really wanted to like spines, but the animations are so long and silly

also back in the day the only available graphic was 'crazy banana shooter guy,' so

Only animations that are long are spine burst and ripper. Oh, barb swipe also, but no one should ever pick up that power.

Spines/Fire scrapper build take 2. This time I'm at 60% recharge (130 w/ hasten), and +291 HP. I'm sitting 16-21% +DEF, or 47.7-53.6% +DEF w/ Shadow Meld up, which it will be about half the time.

Well, I hope you get that sorted out Buddy.

Just did the Morality Mish for my blaster...went from Hero to Vigilante. Went and flew around the Rogue Isles for the first time ever. It's nice.

Now, two more days of tip missions and 1 more Morality mission and then where do I go for a Patron Arc?

Specifically, whoever gives me Soul Mastery.

Never had higher than a level 8 redside so, totally new.

Go to Grandville, fly to the big tower in the middle of the city (cannot miss it) and look for Arbiter Rein, standing RIGHT outside the doors leading into the tower. Talk to him, he'll give you a dopey little mission, then you pick your patron.
They changed the way patron pools work a few issues back, it doesn't matter who you pick as your patron, once you run their first arc you'll have access to all four patron pools, including soul mastery. If I my be so bold, do NOT pick Mako. Some of his missions are just hell. Fucking fonts.

    Thanks Narbus...

a question for down the road:

    - if I go back to hero and I do a respec, will I have access to both Epic and Patron power pools?

Yeah, you just need to do one patron arc and you unlock them all, no matter what you switch to later.

I actually need to go ahead and knock out one of those arcs on my fortunata, so that I can turn her into a hero.
