I didn't feel like digging up the old Zune megathread for a simple one-shot question like this.
I'm looking to buy a media player and trying to compare the iPod Touch with the Zune HD. I'm curious about the Zune Marketplace. How does it compare to iTunes in terms of purchasable song selection? I've heard the Zune Pass is awesome, but I'm curious about the actual store. Just wondering if it has the same breadth of selections as iTunes.
Well, as personal preference, I prefer AAC to MP3, so I just buy music for my Zune from the iTunes store. I also prefer to pay for my music in US dollars instead of Microsoft Points. On that note though, I think it does make songs $0.0125 cheaper than songs on iTunes though.
I don't think you're going to find anything much that one has that the other doesn't. The Zune store is integrated as part of the content, and it's all fairly seamless. Buying stuff is a breeze. Zune Pass is indeed AWESOME and getting 10 credits a month as part of your subscription makes it worth trying if you spend money buying tracks anyway.
You can browse available content on the zune website. I have no idea how they compare in terms of library. The stuff that I can't find on Zune I doubt I'd find on any other online marketplace.
Just head over to zune.com and start searching on bands/albums/songs/whatever, though. Stuff that has a circle with a \ through it next to the title is not available on the store.
