Prison on the inside - buttsex the least of your worries?

Not sure what forum this was ORIGINALLY from, but a good read nontheless (I'm in the middle of it).

So here it is, the top 10 worst things about prison that you never knew about:

10. The Smell

Prison smells like shit. Smells worse than shit. You know the smell you imagine jenkem to smell like? Imagine that, only it's being rubbed on the arm pits of a sweaty mexican and then his armpit pubes are being set fire too. It's that bad. No one flushes the fucking john. Ever. You know how clean prison looks in all the pictures? It is, because we spend all fucking day cleaning it. And then convicts just basically shit themselves for a laugh. I switched buses on the way back and sat next to this guy wearing cologne. I'm not gay (well, as not gay as you can be after being inside) but I got a boner as soon as I smelt it. Fucking amazing.

My cousin went away for two months on a 2nd DUI. He's a dipshit, but nice enough when not drinking.

Georgia county jail. Afterwards he recounted these things: The place he was at people traded books because you were only allowed the bible. It was hard to read the books as you might get traded half a book and read it out of order. It wasn't that dangerous or scary he said. Filling your time was the worst. How did they pass the time? I shit you not dungeons and dragons. Apparently some guy on his block was a huge nerd who got caught embezzling, He DM'd for them and taught them how to play (cousin and others had no idea what DnD was). So they played dnd with whatever scraps of paper they could. The dude would even burn his phone calls asking his wife to look shit up in the monster manual. Cousin was transfered to a different county jail (1st dui in one place serve time there, then second in another) This place was hell. Fighting, clawing, scary assed jail.

    jail sounds awful.

I've done six months in juvie and a few in an adult jail.

My younger brother is in prison for a bunch of shit. He actually gets out on the 26th of this month.

He was charged with robbery, kidnapping, disrupting public service and criminal menacing. He got a plea deal with just robbery and disrupting public service. They only gave him two years.

I don't ask him about what it's like in there. He has had his jaw broken in some kind of racially motivated beat down, though.

    Dear everyone,

Can America's prison system be fixed, even with the improbable support of the population at large, or do we need to blow them up and start from the ground up?

One of my cousins was in prison for like, 9 years or some such. He's a pretty cool guy, he just made some dumbass choices when he was younger and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now he lives next door to me (which also happens to be next door to our grandparents) and he's getting his life back on track as much as he can.

The prison industry is powerful enough that support from the majority of the population by itself isn't enough to force the institutional legislative change that's needed to make the prison system work.

i went to visit a prison with the girl guides once
they took us into an interrogation room and we all sat down and had juice
then, a man popped in out of nowhere and went WAAUUGHH!!! and then ran out

we had to describe him after he left. it was to see how observant we were! i nearly crapped myself.

Hover your mouse pointer over it or highlight some text in the post and it should be more readable. It grays it out for some reason when you don't.

While I agree that it is dumb, it's equally stupid to know about this and still do stupid stuff, like the video mentioned "Stealing cookies."
