PS3 HDMI Question

Will this cable connect to the PS3 and work on my TV, or do I have to get one of those that specifically have "for PlayStation 3" in the name?

Im almost 100% sure any HDMI cable will work for the ps3. Its a fairly standardized piece of equipment. I used a no-name one for my ps3, and it works like a dream.

That's what I figured, too, but I wasn't sure. I didn't know if the ones with "for use with PlayStation 3" were needed or if that was just a ploy. Thanks.

The funny thing is, the regular port on the back is still the same as the old ps2 one, so you can use the special Composite cables for a ps2 in a pinch.

If you ever have to call Sony support, they may ask if you're using official Sony-brand accessories such as cables. If they do, lie to them and say yes. Apparently they voided some poor bastard's PS3 warranty for using non-Sony cables.

I don't believe they're allowed to do that with HDMI cables, because they don't own the spec. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that they'd be in violation of the contract they're under...

I couldn't say one way or the other, but if it ever came up for me, I'd play it safe and lie through my teeth. Just sayin'.
