No update this weekend, most likely. I have a test on Tuesday, and considering how poorly I did on the last one for this class, I need to bust ass and not fail. Hopefully I'll be able to have something up for you over Thanksgiving weekend, probably another double update including talking around town and the dungeon. Then after that I am in full blown finals mode, so there will be another break with no updates until approximately the 13th or so.
After that, though, things should settle down and fall into a pattern of one update a week. My spring schedule is much more forgiving than my Fall one was and I will have lots more free time to devote to this LP. Please just bear with me a little longer.

The title is ironic because there's lots of talking.
Last time, we went through a nightclub to find a secret club which turned out to be a front for the Joker's minions. We did learn that the student body president of Kasugayama High is behind everything that's been going on so far, though, so that's our new goal.

The party members pretty much only talk about how much the student body president of Kasugayama sucks, but the workers here have some interesting comments.
While we're here, let's make some new Personas, too!
Poltergeist is being made basically just for the sake of a couple fusion spells. Though he will get a bit of use by switching him to Lisa right before she levels up, to give her strength a nice boost. Pixie boosts Agility on a level up, and Lisa focuses on Agility naturally, so she doesn't need that. Even though I stand by Technique being far and away the more important damage stat, it's good to have one or two people with a decent strength, as well.
This is, obviously, for Tatsuya. It makes his starter Persona completely obsolete, and with three elements will take part in a lot of fusions, which means it will mutate a lot, which means its stats will stay nice and high. Surya will probably be with us for a while.
I love Nekomata. It should be easy to see why, too. All four basic elements and a + Vitality nature makes her amazing on someone with a high natural Technique and low Vitality growth...like Maya. Nekomata is prone to getting huge mutation boosts, too, so she'll probably be around a while also.
This is a good one for Yukki. +Agility gives her a nice boost to her lacking stat, he has a good array of fire spells, and adds some extra healing to the lineup with Soothing Melody.

Male Student: Umm...Hmm...What could it be...? Lately, I noticed that I have fewer classmates than I did earlier...What's up with that...? Hmm...Maybe it's just my imagination.
Male Shadow Student: There are seven scary stories in this school...The bomb shelter is just one of them...They say that if you go in, you'll never be able to find where the exit is...Ever since I heard the story, I haven't gone anywhere near it...I wouldn't really mind, though. I'm sure it's nice and quiet inside...
This unlocks a contact option between Tatsuya and Eikichi. Had we lied and told Eikichi that he was cooler, then selecting both of them would result in Eikichi telling Tatsuya that he'll handle it and doing the contact on his own.
Male Student: I heard that Master Joker makes your ideals into reality...But what do they mean by "your ideals"? Does it refer to your dreams of the future? I don't give a crap about the future. I only care about what's going on right now. I'll just take things as they come. That's the best way to live your life, don'tcha think?
Male Student A: I understand. I'm with you, Michelle. I'm not gonna rely on anyone else to live my life.
Male Student B: I guess you're right. We can't always rely on the gang leader. I just don't have much...confidence in myself...But hey, I'll show you that I can fend for myself!
No matter who you speak to in this trio, the camera swivels to this angle and the following conversation takes place. That's how you know you should pay attention to it.
Male Student: What transfer student? Oh, that one...? That student hasn't been showing up at school lately due to some kind of hospitalization...? I don't know much more than that.
Something's definitely up with that transfer student. Wonder who he is?
Male Shadow Student: G...Gang Leader...Maybe it was...our own fault they called Kasugayama High "K'ass-u-gay-ama". I don't really care about anything...I know that now...But still...Being jealous of Sevens was the only thing that brought this school together...So...So...
Male Student: Heh heh! Compared to Seven's slumped popularity, our school's festival was a huge success. So many people came! Aren't you jealous? You are jealous, huh? Sevens has finally fallen under the shadow of our school! From now on, Kasugayama High will be the top school! You're gonna have to walk around under our shadow now!
There is one more thing to do here before we head after the student body president. If you remember, when I was discussing the contact system and how to obtain Tarot Cards, I kept saying "except for Fool Cards." That's because Fool Cards are remarkably difficult to come by. So, let's get one.
The first thing we need is a demon with the personality type of Foolish. There are Ogres running around Kasugayama that will do nicely. Then, you need to contact them with something that raises Interest. After raising their interest, you have to raise their Anger. Then, their interest again. Then their anger a second time. Then, finally, you have to raise their interest a third and final time. Once you've done that, in that order, there is a 1 in 32 chance of them asking an additional question instead of simply giving you their normal tarot cards.
Obviously, you want to tell him you're a fool. Once you do that, you will receive one and only one Fool Card. There are four Fool Personas in the game, with the first taking one card, the second two, and so on. Are they worth all the trouble? Well...sort of. They're certainly better, on average, than other personas of a comparable level, but there are other good Personas that don't take as much effort. I'll still be showing off at least one, though, so you'll be able to make your own decision about them.
Alright, that's enough futzing around. Let's look for the president. He's probably in the student council office on the second floor.
Serious Student Council Member: Oh, Michell! You're okay! Oh, that's good news!
Excited Student Council Member: That's right! If anything happened to you, Michelle, it'd be the end of Kasugayama High!
Serious Student Council Member: This is all some sort of misunderstanding! We're all so embarrassed about the president!
Excited Student Council Member: It's best for all of us in the student council to work together to make our school a safer place!
Serious Student Council Member: He's so afraid of you that he's hiding somewhere in the school. If you find him, you can defeat the evil that has a hold on him!
Serious Student Council Member: The students planned a revolt, so he went and hid in the basement...THis time, we know exactly where he is!
And so here we are. In the basement. Right by the entrance to the inescapable bomb shelter. This is foolproof.

Part 9 - In The Basement
Student Body President's Voice: Forgive me...I...I know that what I did was wrong...I'll never do it again...All I'm asking for is a little forgiveness...
And...they run into the bomb shelter. Show of hands, who's surprised?
That's what I thought.
Eikichi: Gah! Wh, what's up with this, you jerk!?
Maya: Wait up, Eikichi. Let me turn the light on...Umm...I was sure I brought my Maglite with me...
Tatsuya to the rescue.
...yup.
And...Eikichi just smashed the tranceiver.
Underground Shelter
The bomb shelter. Easily the worst dungeon in the first half of the game. Horrifyingly enough, it has competition in the second half. There's no map, there's no compass, there's damage floors, there's poison floors, and all you can see is the small area around Tatsuya. The goal is to find a way out. Of course, there isn't a way out, because rumors, so the real goal is to run around in a circle three or four times. There are two "Small Rooms" in the bomb shelter, and each time you go to one, your party gets more and more desperate, until a cutscene happens. Let's take a look, shall we?

And the random drunk man walks off. It may be important to realize that he's saying "big brother" in the "I am a Japanese male older than you" sense, and not in the "older brother" sense.
And the screen fades to black as we return to the present.
Oh yeah, that's not creepy.

Part 10 - Fire and Ice
Last time, we were trapped in an inescapable bomb shelter and, thanks to Maya's creativity and a loophole in the rumor, were able to escape.
This time, we go after the student body president for real.
Maya's right. We have to find this guy. Hie's almost certainly in the gym, at the masquerade.
Before we can get there, though, we run into this guy.
Gay Student: But there's nothing I can do! Nobody will believe me! If only I had some proof...Hey there, girlfriend...Would you beat up Bukimi and get me some proof? I'll reward you...Okay?
Let's spread the rumor and see what we can do about it.

Bukimi went down nice and easy, but the damage she caused is massive. I know, I know...it looked like her one attack didn't do anything. But it did, my friends...Let's take a look at a Before and After, shall we?
This is my status before fighting Bukimi. Most of the eleven hours was spent in the casino, getting tokens to buy items to sell for massive profit. Hence the 3.5 million yen I have.
This is my status right after fighting Bukimi. Notice anything? That's right, Hula of Misfortune halves your money. It is one of two big annoyance attacks. We'll discuss the other when it comes up. Fortunately, not many things use this attack, and I had stockpiled more money than I'd ever need anyway, so I wasn't hit too hard by one casting, but it's still a good idea to try and take out enemies with that move first.
Still...1.7 million yen gone in an instant...That better be one great reward.
Gay Student: Oh my!
...Yeah, I guess that's worth 1.7 million yen. I may even use them!
Still, they did seem to bond a little, she's right. In fact, that conversation earned them a group contact!
...a group contact in which Maya mortifies Tatsuya in order to amuse the demon. Oh, Maya.
Only one way to find out. Let's head to the gym!

...Uh...
That's almost certainly not a good thing.
...Oh, Maya. Fortunately, Tatsuya rips the mask off before anything bad happens to her.
Looks like Yasuo isn't good enough to control the skull. Or that it won't stop until it has enough energy...
Which means everyone in a mask is going to become a Shadow Self if we don't do something.
The gang rushes forward to confront Yasuo, but Yukki stops suddenly, halfway to the stage.
Because her Persona starts freaking out.
Because it senses someone on the rafters.
Anna walks out of the gym as Yukki rushes to catch up with the others.
Instead of saying anything, Yasuo freaks at the sight of Eikichi and runs away.
Let's track Yasuo down. The trail goes a bit cold once you make your way back into the school, but on the third floor, we get our ever handy "SAVE YOUR GAME" warning, in the form of Eikichi telling us that his Persona is getting pissed because it can sense Yasuo nearby.
The trail leads us to the roof where...there's another walkie-talkie.
As he's talking, the party clues in on his location one-by-one, and surround him. Yasuo himself remains completely unaware of this, however, until Eikichi finally has enough and just kicks his legs out from under him.
Hahahaha burn.

This guy's a joke. The first time I fought him, he didn't even manage to attack, because Tatsuya beat Maya to the punch, and he and Lisa were able to get off a second Blazing Hell.

Background: Yukino first appeared as a respectable and trustworthy party member in Persona 1. Before that, however, Yukino was, quite bluntly, a punk. She wasn't trustworthy or respectable at all, really. In fact, she was just the opposite. She was rebellious and prone to violence. It was during these years that she learned to fight with her razors.
Obviously, though, her bad attitude didn't stick. So what changed? Professor Saeko took a teaching job at Hermelian High, that's what. Saeko became a mentor of sorts to Yukino, and helped her learn there was more to life than just rebelling and fighting. Ever since then, Yukino has wanted to help others the same way Professor Saeko helped her. She may finally have her chance with Anna Yoshizaka...
Relation to Empress Arcana: The Empress arcana is the arcana of mothers and motherhood. Not just the actual physical act of giving birth, but the role of the caregiver and nurturer. Yukki embodies this rather obviously in her desire to mentor someone the same way Professor Saeko mentored her. In addition to that, the Empress keeps people grounded, much like Yukino does when the others in the party get to be too much. Sometimes she does this with a harsh word, such as when scolding Lisa and Eikichi for rushing into the bomb shelter, and sometimes she does it by reminding Maya that constellations and constipation are two different things, actually.

I'm loving it so far, even as somebody that knows most of the plot of IS and EP. It's nice to see someone doing such a thoughtful and well done LP. Thanks! Can't wait to see more.

No, I fully agree with the spoiler policy. It's just that chasing the Masquerade is the dull prologue to the more exciting bits later, so I don't have much to say until things get crazy. And Kasugayama and the Muses aren't even the exciting bits of that...
But one thing about here, I am pretty sure that the Jolly Roger is a reference to Captain Harlock. I mean, the outfit and hair are exactly the same. Some SMT sites claim he's a reference to Victor from Devil Summoner but seriously, that's a depressed Captain Harlock. With a mustache.
And, hell, even that one's only because of how much I like it in Eternal Punishment

Hm, come to think of it, I don't know if I like any of the dungeons in Persona 2 as pure dungeoning experiences instead of the plot and character revelations you get from them. Persona in general doesn't seem as good with dungeon design as the rest of SMT. (though I haven't played P1 or P4...yeah, I suck)
Wait, the final dungeon in EP is pretty awesome. Everything else I can take or leave.

Last time, we found out that Lisa is not only the proto-Chie, but also the proto-Rise! More specifically, we learned that she was set to become a teen idol, and has to show up at Mu Continent. So let's get going.
We have two places to go, first. Our first stop is the Abandoned Factory.
Abandoned Factory
The Abandoned Factory is the "bonus dungeon" of sorts for Innocent Sin. We can encounter every enemy in the game here, which makes it a great place to grind, gain cards, and rank up Personas. The factory is divided into sections that unlock at various points of the story to prevent us from taking on end game enemies in an attempt to prove our badassery.
