I just recently bought for really cheap on Ebay Dinowarz. It was an awesome, if cheaply difficult game about robot dinos shooting each other.

When I get home I'll post a video of it.

At 7:14 in the 749 games in 15 minutes video, what game is showing?

and Rampage! ... A friend and I stayed up all night once to beat all 50 states. We were broken by the end of it, but pulled it off.

edit: Mario Is Missing, it seems.

I never played that one. Was it any good?

This Nintendo Age place seems to be pretty cool, glad I stumbled across it.

It has a nice listing of games and their rarity, but I don't know how accurate it is (Chrono Trigger is listed at a 2: "Widespread"), and I do know it's missing at least one game (Final Fantasy III (NES)).

Most importantly of all, it verifies that the Dragon Warrior games DID come with a map, which eases my mind.

Nope. Even as an educational game, it was really lame. (Woe it be you if you got it as a kid thinking it was gonna be a dope new Mario World.)

For people that are familiar with Crono Trigger, I'm about to fight Lavos, there are a few submissions I could do, my characters are all about level 40. Am I strong to take him on?

My fondest memories of the NES were playing Excitebike far too much. I shouldn't even get into the time I spent on the games track editor.

Pro Wrestling was also constantly in my NES.

I just beat Legend of Zelda on my NES for the first time ever 3 years ago right around my 20th birthday. I've owned and played the game here and there my entire life.

    Top gun sucked dick.

    Probably.
I'd suggest doing the sidemissions before you take on Lavos, but that's less because they're neccesary and more because they're fun to do.

Ok, so this thread made me remember Nightshade, one of my favorate Adventure games of the NES. I dont think I've laughed so hard at a game ever before. The humor in that game was spot on....

And now I have something to do this weekend!

Rarity doesn't always weigh heavily on the perceived cost of retro games. Chrono Trigger is still up there in price (around $40 loose according to ebays completed auctions) mainly because its one of the top games on the system.

Blades of Steel is still the greatest hockey game ever made.

The fact that winning a fight sends the other play to the penalty box is just icing on the cake.

it still slightly pains me to know that kids nowadays grow up without this system and the games.

Super Mario Bros. 3 should be a mandatory game to finish for anyone wanting to even touch any other game.

I tell my fiance this all the time. When we have kids, before they start to play all the new games or whatever crazy realistic games will be out when they can play them, I'm going to have a list of all time classics that they will need to finish first. And I'm dead serious. Super Mario Brothers 3 will be on there along with some others.

So while fiddling with my NES today I noticed jiggling the controller connector while connected to the system causes it to hit random buttons. Oh and the S-Video cable I was using for my SNES finally bit the dust. It was a piece of shit to begin with. Ugh, gotta track down one of those now. Not a whole lot of fun.

Anywho, here's a picture of where I have it set up now.

    img2080i.jpg

And here's my rather meager collection. (All but four or five are these are games I've had since I was a young lad.)

    img2082f.jpg

The Jungle Book was the last NES game I received as a gift when I was a kid. 1994, I want to say. Still have the boxes for most of these, with the later titles obviously being in very good condition (Mega Man V & the aforementioned Jungle Book in particular)

Man, now I have the urge to hit up Goozex for some NES carts, since there's no place to buy 'em locally.

It was a gift from one of my aunts in 1992. Bless her soul, she thought she was doing well. I forgive her though, because she bought me Super Mario Bros. 3 the year before.

I actually finished the damn thing, but I didn't learn anything either. Everything was "Try answers until the damn game accepts one."

Racketboy.com supposedly has decent snes/n64 s-video cables, the ebay ones are a crapshoot. Mine is one of the crap ones and it doesn't look different than composite. I would bother to get a new one but im replacing everything i can with rgb/component in the next few weeks.

Hell yeah, and not the pussy Allstars version with saves and shit. The real deal, old school, blow-in-the-goddamned-cartridge experience.

Maybe you can throw in some vintage Nintendo Power mags to help 'em out, though.

Yeah, I might have to. Honestly though, they need to know how far games have come, and that NES paved the way for all of the games we have today. Remember, before NES there was that video game crash. If NES never came out, do you think we would even have video games? Even if we did, they def. wouldn't be as good.

... I need to bust out the VC, I see. Jeez. So many amazing games in the past, and yet.. I know they'll never age, but I just fear that there is only so much awesome you can stuff into a day.

.. I want to play Mother/Earthbound so badly right now.
