Ohh boy I made a thread.
So here's my most recent stuff.... Wait wait wait, introduction first. I'm m3nace, I'm 16 years old [edit: screw that, I'm 17 now! A big boy.], I'm from Denmark and my dad's a graphic... Graphicer... An artist that works with lithography, japanese wood cutting and other kinds of 'graphies. That was all.
So here's my most recent stuff:

frog_in_the_fog_by_emir0-d2xjbe7.png
Frog in the fog. An intrepid frog going on a journey. Jolly fun to make.

batmanman_by_emir0-d310s9j.png
Batmanman. Way more man than a batman. I think I need to do something about the value in this to improve
the depth, by making the darks darker the closer it gets.
I also see a conflict between his right ear (our angle) and the dark tower in the background.

scouting_the_planes_by_emir0-d310s2j.png
Dragon scout on the steppes. It's really small actually and my scanner is shit, thus some of it might look really weird.

rider_painting_by_emir0-d312hcc.png
Dragon rider painting... Painting. Every time I try to put eyes on this guy it's all ruined.

Those are some adventurous lads you have there. So far i want to see more Frog in the Fog stuff. Because frogs in armor interest me. Also we will want to see the life drawings very much. For you see we at the PA:AC like them to bits.

Soo... Still haven't gotten around to uploading any traditional pieces. I AM TOTALLY A VERY BUSY MAN!
But here is some recent digital stuff I've been doing!

First is a minimalist (more or less) poster that is part homage to Chrom (if you haven't yet, you should check out his posters) and part a piece of a star wars fan project.

    holocron_hunters_poster_by_emir0-d34jkvm.png

Next are some mugshots for the same project
    trandoshan_slaver_by_emir0-d33s1ec.png and siniteen_doctor_by_emir0-d33s199.png
and they requested it be in a jrpg style soo, sorry it's a bit horrible and she looks like a retard but
    generic_jedi_girl_by_emir0-d34063z.png

Here's an avatar for a friend's brother (I think it is safe to say that I now have a fan)
    oscar__s_christmas_avatar_by_emir0-d35c10w.png
Same style as mine, check it out matching avatars.

And here's a thing I did while trying out different ways of using brushes

We're some guys over on the swtor (bioware's old republic mmo) forums making an rpg with rpg maker vx or some dingus like that. I'm in charge of some of the art and for mugshots, a bit here and there.
Working on that poster was like Christopher Nolan must have had it working on inception, jeebus a box within a box within a box.

Well it's a bit vague. It looks like a concrete bunker built into a cliff side. Is it on the water? The ground and the sky are very similar in color, I can't tell the difference. Is there a door to this place? How do you get in? What is the purpose of the location? Is it military? Is that a cave underneath it? Build some more context into the piece. Set up a mood. It's just kind of plain right now.

Come to think of it, every summer of my life I've spent at a military outpost - it's our summer cottage located on a small lovely island with does and everything! Well let me see.
    romsoe6.jpgromsoe3.jpg
We live behind the trees there, right next to the lighthouse there's a small spotter cabin (not the black ones the yellow one that the tree is blocking)
    seatower_by_emir0-d360gd7.png
edit: I'm getting the impression you think I meant like a military base with guns and shit. It's not exactly that, the transportation thing I'll have to work on though - there's supposed to be a small hangar in the cave beneath it. It's rather a small observational outpost/lookout
Thanks for the help so far lads!

Yep its east to lose track of the hands against the fancy armor.

It's a really cool character concept, and I'd love to see it tightened up some to completion. Also the eyes on mister goop are distractingly simple compared to the style of the rest of the piece.

    Frog with a mace. Awesome.

That still life of the window is great.

    Edit: Draw your hands.
That exercise where you draw your hands without picking up the pencil
Or draw your hands finding only the most basic 3d shapes
Do sheets of these in all different positions.

I've only done a few pages, and I've seen vast improvement over what I used to call hands.

Try getting more experimental with the colors. Right now it looks like your just adding white/black when you want things to be light/dark.

Like on the helmet/backpack guy a few posts up, his scarf could have highlights of yellow or orange, instead of just a lighter and lighter red.

I'm changing the armor to oxidated bronze but I'm having difficulties with the neckguard and the shadowing+shading around that area.
I also tried following ewa's suggestions.. Succes?

I like the oxidated bronze colors, but remember too that oxidated metal is often not-all-one-color, and the actual color of the metal is different from the color of the oxidation-- bronze with no oxidation is a brown that's vaguely umberish with a yellow to purplish cast to it, depending on what other metals were combined to create the alloy.

A little texture or some more shadowing would help to really pop that out a bit. Reference different bronze finishes-- this is just one page of examples. Different chemical exposures can cause different oxidations.

(I don't mean to be pushy... I am a technical consultant for a company that sells sculpture supplies: I actually do consults on "how to patinate metals" as part of my day job so I nerd out about it a bit.)

anytime! We have a whole *book* of chemical finishes for bronze at work, I think that might be a color plate from that book-- I googled "bronze patina photo" to find it. Usually an intentional manipulation of metal coloring would be called a patina so that's a better search term usually.

A little update on this one as well as another wip of some tengu-like people. I just don't know about the colors, it gets way more intense when it's just black and white...
Maybe the colors just aren't tense enough but I wanted them to be slightly faded
