De-syncing an Xbox 360 controller

WolfriderWolfrider Registered User regular
I just got a couple of new controllers for my Xbox 360, so I was going to let my kids (4 and 1) play with the old ones. Is there a way I can de-sync the controllers so they won't turn on or otherwise affect the Xbox? Pushing the sync button doesn't do it, either with or without pressing the sync button on the Xbox. I would just take the batteries out, but I think they like the flashing green lights around the big Xbox button.

If this had been an actual alien invasion, you would have protected as many as SOME of your population. Congratulations.

I'm fairly sure the controller is only de-synced when it syncs to another console. If you got access to another console briefly you could sync them to that instead.

Alternately, unplug your xbox while they play with them.

As far as I know there is no way to manually de-sync a controller.

Exis is on the right track, those would be my suggestions as well.

    Edit: Wow, missed that somehow.
