So I guess there's a Lord of the Rings MOBA game coming out/already out called Guardians of Middle Earth. So far buzz is super positive.
It looks interesting, but I didn't get a chance to download the demo last night. ANyone try it out?
I grabbed it yesterday. My only MOBA experience before this was a few rounds of LoL at LAN party, which I didn't really enjoy. This however was a lot of fun. The controls feel good, and I felt like I could figure out what I should be doing better than in LoL.
The two rounds I played ended up being 5 people vs 5 CPU, so hopefully the game ends up popular enough to get into all human games easily. Another downside is that $15 doesn't get you all of the characters. They do the featured characters of the week thing, with a few that seam to be permanently unlocked, and there is a $15 season pass, which I'm guessing makes all of the characters unlocked.
You can buy characters permanently with in-game currency. The season pass is for later content, like any normal DLC season pass.
In any case, I'm honestly very surprised with the game. I never though a MOBA would be able to control that well on a console, but they figured it out.
It is the sequel to Sands of Time that Warrior Within and Two Thrones failed to deliver on because they were shitbuckets
Yeah, I loved how it didn't connect to the overarcing narrative in any way and in fact sort of ruined it by how bizarrely Prince reacted to the new situation. Oh and how every slightly interesting element was wiped completely out of existence by the end of the game. Actually, I'll elaborate.
SoT is awesome with only okay combat. Warrior Within creates an IMPRESSIVELY bad first impression, what with it's godsmack and angry metal titty ladies and so on. It's also too hard in the opening. However, the ending is sort of ingenious and tons of fun to play. Dual wielding is also really cool. Plus you can just hurl people off cliffs! Two Thrones adds the awesome stealth kill system, the terrible chariot race thingy, and the best meta commentary I've ever seen in a video game. They seriously incorporated the criticisms of the fans and critics into the main themes of the storyline, that's amazing in my view. Plus, they made the douchey VA from 2 Prince's evil dark side. Seriously, it was great. Oh and the Vizier actually did stuff, fulfilling one of the few broken promises of SoT.
PoP 2008 is too easy (except for the Epilogue, which is sweet) and the non-linear thing was unnecessary and unhelpful. On the other hand, the graphics and music are probably the best in the series by far. The optional interactions are quite fun and the platforming has a real fun flow to it. Finally, the ending has real potential and makes you wonder what could come next. So of course they ignored the strong sales and high critical opinion and listened to moaning "fans."
Forgotten Sands has cool platforming mechanics that eventually get old, the worst story in the series, and the worst combat in the series. Any one of the magic powers is OP, so have FOUR of them. Good thing they severely limited the usage of... oh just kidding, the bad guys drop refills like candy. Even the infinite respawning goons drop magic refills. WTF The whole brother concept has potential, but they immediately make his character two dimensional and Prince suddenly cares about a series of things he never does in the rest of the series. The opportunity for Prince to compare the current situation with his previous problem is dumbfoundingly ignored completely. The whole "bad guys attacking the city" thing is literally ONLY there for you to have a combat tutorial. And the ending should be tragic or meaningful or SOMETHING, but what it is is boring. Overall, the game's status as a rushed tie-in to have a game in a similar setting as the (also disappointing) movie is well earned. Here's hoping they'll go back to '08's universe and iron out the issues. Or those teams will be on AC forever and it'll be '08 haters' fault.
I'd argue that Forgotten Sands has the best combat in the series in that it didn't prevent me from playing the actual fun part of the game.
The combat in the older games was tedious as fuck and ruins what is, otherwise, great.
for context: I haven't played '08 yet; got cockblocked by the chariot/double boss sequence in two thrones; and gave up on WW pretty quickly because ugh

The thing about PoP combat is that there is ALWAYS a move that you can spam if you're actually having trouble.
In SoT, it's jump over the guy or freeze him with the sand power.
In WW, it's throw him off the cliff. The last third of the game, this is all you should do. Otherwise, combo with two weapons or throw an off hand weapon into somebody.
In TT, don't fuck up the stealth thing. That boss was easily the hardest part of the game, so don't feel too bad.
In '08, just do any combo really.
In FS, every move is the win button because there is literally no fight put up in combat. Jump on top of guys? Win. Throw guys? Win. Powered up sword slashes? Win. Shoot fire? Win. Turn into rocks? YOU CAN'T TAKE ANY DAMAGE (this works for those achievements too, shockingly) so win by default. You get the idea.
I've played the demo of GOME. Good game. Only thing keeping me from buying it is that I don't have Gold, so I don't think I'd be able to play it online. What's the point if I can't play online?

These all depend on price, but I'm keen for Kinect Party (which I heard will be free for a bit), Keflings, Walking Dead, maybe Max Payne 3, Borderlands 2 Season Pass, possibly Nuts & Bolts, and the Skyrim DLC.
Imma need more points.

Ooh, the first episode of The Walking Dead for free? I'm glad I waited now.

Yeah, I'll be away from my xbox while a lot of this is going on, but I should be able to grab and play the free episode in time to decide if I want the full series. I expect I will.
Does Lego Star Wars: The Completa Saga cover all 6 episodes? Star Wars is the only Lego game I've ever really liked.
Yeah, it's the first six episodes. They did some finagling with the overworld, and the vehicle levels suck a lot less, but otherwise it's just the first two games combined.
If all of Walking Dead together is $25, do you think it'll be $20 after the deals? Would they go lower than that? Tempted also by Dust and maybe Fez (but the lack of a fix for that game ever makes me go eh...)
They should totally do a discount for the AC3 season pass, that would get a TON of hits.
I guess that is why the Black Friday deals were so bad. Will get a lot more attention now, rather than competing with countless other retail video game deals.

Don't let the lack of another patch for Fez detract you from buying it. The bug that Polytron missed in the first patch and wouldn't pay to fix only effects a small percentage of old saves that were created from before the patch was released. It was one of my favorite gaming experiences this year.

Second. Like you say, I'm pretty sure the save game glitch only affects people who already bought the game before the first patch came out. If you buy it now, you're safe. I agree that it is one of the best games this year, the atmosphere of it is just wonderful and shouldn't be missed.
Woke up this AM in a good mood, and decided to throw around some good holiday vibes.
Dropped $20 on some 400 point XBLA cards, and doled em out to some PA dudes. If you got a PM from me, those codes are legit, and I'm not some bot scam thing.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

Best case scenario would be $10 for the other 4 episodes (half off each).

I hope Retro City Rampage is out soon, need my nostalgia dose.
In other news the free-to-play game Happy Wars is actually fun to play, it has a bit of a learning curve regarding items and the like, but I'm enjoying it at the moment.

Yes. But there are also featured characters of the week. I guess they will be available for purchase with in game currency when they are not featured.
:? I have literally never heard this disastrous opinion before. It is... insane.

That Black Knight Sword game looks like the 2D side scrolling part from Shadows of the Damned. The worst part of a pretty shitty game? No thanks!

If you don't already have them, pick up Hell Yeah and Mark of the Ninja you nerds
