    Hmm, what a great idea!

There's a handy mod that removes many of those annoying invisi-walls. Works pretty well.

Where are these invisible walls that are causing so much angst anyway? The only ones I found were around the quarry, at which point it was getting to almost mako levels of climbing sheer cliffwalls

Sadly Spoit, your experience is not representative of everyone else's. I have also experienced invisible walls in areas where I should be able to jump over. The Quarry is a good example but I think the cliffs near Searchlight have them too.

    Also,

I'm calling it right now. The Northern Passage is for DLC. It's too obvious not to be.

I don't see how they'd be in different places? Surely that'd be something they specifically programmed into it?

I think he was just saying hes not sure if theyre in that spot as well. There are apparently invisible walls all over the place. I havent found any yet either though, except when i accidentally tried to leave the map through the top end. Jumped on the roof of a bus to avoid the radiated water but hit an invisible wall... but its the edge of the map so...
They're all over the place, particularly when it comes to any kind of a ridge or hill or other place where you're trying to climb up (and trust me, there are quite a few places where you've got to do some scaling to reach them). What's particularly aggrivating is that it's not just in places where the devs want to say "no, this is too steep to climb" but they'll be in spots where if you do a bit of clever moving and jumping you could cut a great deal of time out of your trip and the incline really isn't unreasonable at all (some of them are even on places that're relatively flat). Granted, some of this relies on exploiting Gamebryo's allowing players to stand on 75-degree inclines without slipping down, but I'd like to think that the dude's climbing hands and feet to get where he has to be.

    So.

The Black Mountain Radio station's music selection just doesn't do it for me. I feel that they need a playlist that's a tad more... visceral. I'm thinking of downloading the GECK and attempting to muck about with it.

The problem with this is that I get frustrated very easily with this sort of thing, and don't want to waste precious time that could be spent killing Legionnaires.

Is the GECK fairly easy to use, or is it a neverending circus of tears and frustration?

Trying to make a radio station is like bashing your face against a wall for 4 hours, inasmuch as it only really feels good once youre done.

Seriously, its one of the most convoluted processes ever, about a million times harder than it has to be, and it really highlights how jammed into the oblivion engine these games are. I think it also explains why we only get like 21 songs in the base game, because its just so damn tedious to add a lot of songs, especially the way the ingame radio is set up (play some news, some songs play, play some more news, etc).

The good news is that a new radio mod went up on the nexus thats Radio New Vegas extended (like GnR extended from FO3), so you can have your own music but without losing the news bits and the flavor of the announcer. I think without the radio mods on nexus i would have gone completely fucking insane now. Its quite simply a travesty that with thousands of songs out there with expired copyrights (archive.org has like, 5000) that perfectly fit the theme they were going with, only 21 are included in the game. If it was like a 4 or 5 hour game, ok, i can see it. But the games like 40+ hours long. With the songs clocking in at 2 minutes average, that means youre going to hear the same song like 120 times over the course of the game, or 3 times every hour you play. Realistically, its more like 4 times every hour or 160 times considering Radio New Vegas has the longest playlist, at 15 songs.

One thing they definitely need is more people. In fallout 3 it was ok because the area was such a shithole, but with Vegas dealing with cities and massive armies everything feels way to sparse. The amount of unmanned guard-posts is also pretty concerning.

Also where are these supposed prostitutes in the Atomic Wrangler? All I see is a few gamblers.

That is my complaint, but it feels like an engine limitation that bethsoft were acutely aware of and that Obsidian didn't really account for. Fallout 3 is pretty sparsely populated as well, while areas in NV are screaming out for having way more NPCs. Yet they seem pretty dead in comparison. One explanation for the lack of doods in the casinos is that the NCR aren't giving out as much leave and due to the legions presence, people aren't traveling as much.

But still, this games verisimilitude would be even higher if there was more soldiers in the outposts and definitely a busier New Vegas.

So how badly does it screw up the narrative if I
just march into Caesar's tent and put a bullet in him without being asked?

    Not much in my experience

    Yeah, after the
monorail, Boone and I decided that he had to go. Boone didn't actually say so or anything, but we're simpatico like that, see?
Haven't seen any real problems so far, but I haven't done much after yet.

    Also, is it scripted that
Boone decides to unload on you about what exactly happened with his wife while you're in Caesar's tent cleaning the man's entrails off your reinforced leathers? Because jeez, that was such a great place for that conversation.

No, its not scripted for that location
It's not scripted specifically for that location
Killing Caesar, along with a bunch of other actions, makes Boone like you and start to open up about his past (and eventually unlock his companion quest). More info here
Killing Legionaries period makes Boone like you.

Yeah, the Strip was absolutely barren compared to how busy I thought it would be. The Casino's were ghost towns as well.

GNR more where that came from has been ported!

    http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35344

New vegas radio now has 100 more period appropriate songs! Woot!

EDIT - it includes a way to port GNR songs from FO3 ontop of the 100 from GNR more where that came from.....

    CIVILIZATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does the volume on these songs lower during dialogue? I know people were having issues with that.

Because its the New Vegas station, i think it should. Theres a switch in the GECK to get it to do that, but the other 2 mods that are out dont have it flicked (probably because none of the tutorials tell you to flick it).
