Well, as I said last night, I've never owned a RB game before, despite having the guitar, so I'm kinda torn on how I want to do this.
Edit: Seeing how so much of the setlists seem to draw from GH 1 and 2... I dunno if this'll be the final swan song, but it's like seeing old favorites return, and being quite happy.
Anyone know what the code on the back of the RB3 manual is?
Played 'Don't look back in anger' then 'The Power of Love'. Figured I'd start with an old favorite and move into one I've been dying to play since I heard it was on the setlist! Me and the wife have been recreating the band, and although the customize stuff is a little different we figured it out pretty easily. It's better organized overall, we thought. The unlockable specific stuff is kind of silly, but really, who isn't going to unlock most everything by playing the hell out of the game?
Otherwise like everyone else waiting on the servers for more songs. Might as well export Lego Rock Band instead while I'm waiting. Kara's Special Destiny is on tour again, woo!

If you already have a guitar, and you know it works, then get the keyboard bundle if you can afford it. If not, just get the game and save your pennies for next month or something.

Funny part is that it never worked, I just never got off my ass to contact EA. A couple of the buttons take a ton of pressure to work properly.

Shit, after assembling the erector-set kuldge that is the cymbal kit, I try to turn my drum-kit on and nothing.
After trying 3 different sets of batteries and checking for any problems with the contacts, I'm concluding that sometime in the last 6 weeks since I used it, my drum-kit decided to shit the bed.
Looks like I'll be exchanging this cymbal kit for a set of RB3 drums.
Reminds me of when I accidentally carpet-shocked my headphone jack thing on my RB2 kit. Insta-bricked.

You should try calling EA just to be sure, but if they won't RMA it, then you don't really have anything to lose by opening it up. Doc So_Cal runs a forum that's basically for people to talk about fixing and modding their gear. If you're unsure about what you're doing, check it out. There's probably plenty of info there to help.
Ultimately, if you have the money, get the bundle. If not, save up until you do. Just in case the guitar is totally borked.
Last night I stayed up late with the intention of creating British comedian/singer-songwriter Bill Bailey to play in my band, but I couldn't find the right hair so I ended up making the principal characters from my webcomic instead.
I just spent the last hour making up all the characters in my band and I haven't even played a single song yet. What's wrong with me!?
On the plus side, the RB2 ecport code finally just went through. Now I just need to wait...for 2 GB to download.
On the negative side, the Gamestop code is still giving me the same "Please Try Again Later" message. EDIT: HA! Never mind, it worked!

Also, did we ever get any reason why the MIDI adapter has been delayed to the end of November? My wife already has a pretty decent keyboard, so I'm not dropping $80 for the RB3 one...
Man, fuck GameStop. So I'm in Canada and was looking (like a fool) for the keyboard bundle here. Went into GameStop and asked them, and they said it was "pre-order only". I asked if they had had some to clarify whether they even existed in Canada, and she replied, "They were only available for pre-orders."
So thinking (like a rational person) that that meant that they had had some, but not many, I called Futureshop. Fortunately they aren't dicks and just told me, "We don't have any, GameStop doesn't have any, and our store in the next town over doesn't have any. Sorry dude." Nice, so I had to call Futureshop to find out that Gamestop didn't have any?
Then I bought the game at HMV for $5 less than GameStop was charging.
I think they canceled production of the bundle. I had my pre-order in at Amazon, for the game/keyboard bundle, and I got an email Sunday night saying that that item didn't exist, but I could get the game and keyboard separately instead. Still got the discounted price thanks to a voucher though, so it was cool.
At the time I was out, my Fry's was like an hour away with traffic - I'm gonna try the Gamestop near work tomorrow and then Fry's this weekend if I don't find one.

Ok for some reason you can't hear the keys on any of the songs from the Doors Free Pack.
Redownloading, and I really hope this fixes it.
I'd recommend checking the audio settings on your console, TV and/or sound system while you're add it.
The Youtube vid I watched had the same issue. May be a bug.
And these last few posts reminded me that I do have a couple MIDI keyboards floating around, so I should probably wait.

Rockband.com is STILL not live and I'd really like to download the RB2 tracks.

Any PS3 people? Does online play uh... work yet? All I get is "connecting to the rock central game servers" and then "failed to register session", want to know if it's just me or what.
Looks like someone flipped a switch. PS3 has gone from "connecting" to "registering" (although still no progress) and the rockband.com site has gone from "coming soon" to completely unavailable.

so I was all excited to pick up a keyboard bundle after my 151.2km commute back from work only to find out that EA allegedly fucked something up and decided that my city wasn't worthy of receiving bundles. Not a store in my whole damn town had a bundle and both EB and TRU corroborated the story.
