Looking for Alternate story arcs....

So, I stopped reading comics many years ago, but have always enjoyed all things Comic. I watch all the movies, and still collect some of the cooler toys.

I want to read some of the alternate story lines, and I am looking for some recommendations. I just got my hands on the Red Son series, and the Marvel Noir series. Any others that you guys would suggest and why?

Speeding Bullets is one of my all time favorites (Clark Kent gets found by the Wayne family instead of the Kents, and he becomes Batman who flies, and eventually becomes Superman. AWESOME!!)

Not a big fan of the Ultimate series. I think taking characters and screwing up their origins in a re-boot doesn't constitute a good story. I know there are some exceptions in this series, but overall Meh.

I am looking more in the vein of one shots, or small series like Red Son. Kind of like the Marvel "What If?" series, but better.

Let me recomend Superman: Red Son, Spider-man: Reign, I really dug Kingdom Come.

Old Man Logan might fit the bill. Not really an alternate take, but a great standalone future story.

I second 1602, definitely one of the best what-ifs out there.
