Having that new Venom outfit work as an alternate would be a nice way to blend the current Marvel stuff with the launch of a big video game. Then again, they used a Cable outfit from 8 years earlier for MvC2.

That's who the new symbiote host will most likely be, since it's supposed to be someone from the Spider-Family, and he has a military background. And since

It's almost not worth reading some of individual story lines because they always get jacked up when the next event comes out the next month to change the status quo. Stay tuned for the Siege of Civil Secret Invasions of the Shadowlands.
You know, Venom needs to be really damn thankful for the 90s animated series (and also probably the Maximum Carnage video game), because he really has very few (if any) good stories under his belt in the comics.
Even his introduction story was one of the worst reveals ever:
They spent months teasing a supervillain that kept discreetly attacking Spidey from the shadows and then disappearing without triggering his Spider-Sense (knocking him from a crowded subway platform onto the train tracks and such), and establishing that he had a beef with Spider-man.
Finally they reveal that the symbiote is still alive (retcon #1, as we actually pretty much saw the symbiote die in the clocktower because the bells were so loud they were supposedly turning Peter's brains into mush so it came back and dragged Peter to safety, sacrificing it's life in the process--an event left out of all future adaptions) but keep it a mystery as to who it's attached to. This leads to wild speculation as to what villain they have brought back and combined with the symbiote (Kraven was actually a popular guess).
Then the next month we get the big reveal...it's Eddie Brock. A character, who before this issue, had never appeared in a comic before. He's never even met Peter Parker (most later adaptions rectify this by giving him a reason to hate both Peter and Spider-man). Also, his reason for hating Spider-man is terrible (and another huge retcon, ruining a much better story, "The Death of Jean DeWolfe."
He's not a rival photographer like in most adaptions (most adaptions just pretty much turned Eddie Brock into a carbon copy of another Spidey supporting character who was named Lance Bannon, who all in all would have been a much better person to get the symbiote since he was pre-existing and already hated Peter, though his name isn't as cool). Instead he was a writer for another newspaper who got an exclusive with the fake Sin Eater to tell his side of the story and humanizing him to the readers (note: at this time the Sin Eater was a serial killer who had killed, among others: a priest, a cop, and tried to kill JJJ...the fact Eddie thought he could publish a sympathy piece for this guy may be a good sign that he really is insane).
Unfortunately for him, Spider-man captures the real Sin Eater, thus proving Eddie's story a fraud and getting him fired and blacklisted from getting a job anywhere but tabloids and the like (completely without input from Peter, since he worked for a different newspaper and never even met Eddie...plus this whole story couldn't have happened in the context of the original story anyways).
So naturally he decides that the person ultimately responsible for this is not himself, his boss, the fake Sin Eater, or even the real Sin Eater. It was Spider-man. Because if he hadn't caught the real Sin Eater, nobody ever would have known. A legend is born.
It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if they went with the original idea for Venom:
A pregnant woman sees her husband die in a traffic accident, because a driver was looking up in the sky at Spider-man as he swings by and thus runs over someone. The trauma of this event causes her to lose the baby, and so then she begins to hate Spider-man and view him as a menace. Then she would find the symbiote and become Venom.
I actually kind of wonder if they're planning on reusing this plotline for the new female Carnage.

I always thought the Venom thing got really overused. From Venom came Carnage (ugh), multiple colors of symbiote, a whole symbiote invasion, multiple symbiote-based alternate realities, and eventually a Venom Scorpion who really sucks at fighting Spider-man. Not to mention that after all the struggles between Venom and Spider-man, it turns out that the symbiote didn't actually hate him and basically wanted his unique adrenaline to use like alien crack.
That being said, Venom had a pretty slick visual presentation and combat style which I will miss. Pity that the only use he ever seems to get is people spamming his multi-hit arcing giant mouth attack along with assists. Once you see somebody pick him, you already know exactly how to counter him until he goes down.

Fang spam is rather difficult to counter without leaving yourself open. My favorite Venom team is Venom/Cable/Doom. By the time the opponent gets wise to the spam, my meter is usually full, and it only takes one baited move to get caught by Psimitar counter -> AHVBx4. That's assuming the opponent even has the tools to counter it in the first place, and figures it out before they're losing by too much.
Interestingly enough, Venom works a lot better against the top 4 (except maybe Cable) than he does versus the mid-tiers.
Honestly that concept is much worse than what we originally got.
I liked how movie-Venom was a complete, passive-aggresive douchebag.
I liked movie Brock. He was basically Parker without the luck or talent, a weaselly fuck-up who could only get ahead by cheating. The resulting envy and contempt provided some good motivation.
The Venom in the recent cartoon was also pretty good.

Oh, you mean Spectacular Spider-Man? Yeah, that was pretty much the only time Venom was in some good stories. Not to mention they actually gave Eddie some decent motivation in that series:
Eddie was Peter's childhood friend, and had a special bond with him since their parents both died in the same plane crash. They both eventually work together as interns in Dr. Conners' lab. Peter juggling his two identities (somewhat badly) leads Eddie to get more and more ticked off toward Peter (an example: when Conners turns into The Lizard, Peter runs off and fights him as Spidey... but takes pictures of himself in the process. When they're published in the Daily Bugle, Brock sees the byline and gets pissed that Peter (seemingly) took the opportunity to make some money rather than help).
Eventually the symbiote shows up and winds up in Conners' lab. Spidey tries to stop its theft, but fails... and is witnessed by Eddie, who blames him for the theft. With the loss of the symbiote comes the loss of funding, and Conners has to eliminate Brock's job. Shortly later, after Spidey gains the symbiote, learns it's manipulating him, and knocks it off at the church, Spidey dumps it in the containment unit of the lab. Brock is there cleaning out his desk, sees this, and is overjoyed because he could get his job/life back. But Spidey, knowing how dangerous it is, tries to freeze it to death, to Eddie's dismay. But it doesn't work, the symbiote escapes and attaches itself to Eddie.
Finally, after an entire season of building up Eddie's relationship to Peter and then making him feel more and more betrayed by Peter and Spidey, he becomes Venom.
Have I mentioned that Spec Spidey is utterly awesome and probably the best adaptation of the webhead outside of comics? Because it is.
Also, action-figure Venom sounds truly stupid. The concept of Scorpion Venom was at least kind of interesting, but this... oy.

That was the most painful cancellation since Firefly. First the show loses its network, then it loses its production company (Sony traded off Spidey TV rights for unspecified Spidey movie rights), then Marvel decides to start fresh and can it.
The new Ultimate Spidey show has some great people involved (Man of Action, aka the Ben 10 guys, Brian Michael Bendis, and Paul Dini), so I'm sure it'll be good. Still, goddamn, I wish I could have seen what Greg Weisman had up his sleeve for the next seasons. You could just see him very meticulously laying the groundwork for the Jackal. Argh.
good shit by nuki sharing that history with us. but its old news that the top SF4 players really dont like the game. their just milking the scrubsfor that fight money
With MVC3 dropping and the 4 series already or almost at its peak, more and more top players will have the heart to say in public how bad SF4 is. They cant say it now because they dont want to fuck up the moneyor any other potential money that could come for the SF4 craze
SF4 is good to a new player but most pre SF4 players do not like the game. its just the "new" thing
cant wait to hear part 3. Daigo truly is a fighting game genius.

I know, it's got such a stellar list of awesome people.
But it's also on Disney XD, which almost entirely negates its potential.

Once I learned Young Justice was on CN and had a TV-PG rating, all my doubts vanished instantly.
Ironically, Ultimate Spidey is one of the most mature takes on the webhead, so TV-Y7 with Disney execs looming in the dark already has me concerned.
Are we getting something like this in the US? I'm definitely going to preorder and get the bonus extra awesome edition, might as well get a cool shirt if they're offering it to me.

I found it funnier that he actually yells out "chimichanga!".
Deadpool's lines are much funnier with a spoken voice. Basically the opposite of Spidey.
