because I used to really really like Guild Wars but I only ever owned the first one but now the three-pack is on Steam so I'm thinking it'd be a good time to hop back in and try stuff I've never done before.
There are probably about 10 or so folks that play regularly.
The newer stuff is fun, and if you plan to try Guild Wars 2 then you can get new cool stuff for that as well with the Hall of Monuments! (Eye of the North expansion is required for this...)

I would personally recommend starting in Factions, then switching to Nightfall once you get the chance
Factions levels you up super fast, and you get the option of making a Ritualist, which has to be the single most overpowered PvE class in the game
Nightfall probably has quicker starting stuff, but you level up pretty slowly
if you start in Factions, you'll hit level 15 or so by the time you get to go to Nightfall, at which point you pick up level 15 heroes (Koss, Dunkoro, Tahlkora, Melonni... W, Mo, Mo, D) and stuff too
plus with EotN you can get 3 level 20 heroes (Vekk, Ogden, Gwen... E, Mo, Me) pretty much right after you've crossed over
I'm happy to help you guys get through anything! my Rit is going for the Legendary Protector title, so she has to go back to Old Ascalon too
recommended starting characters: Ritualist, Necromancer, Elementalist... these will be the most useful later on
if you like healbotting, Factions has the cutest girl Monks
oh gracious I just went into the monastery and now I'm downloading a huge thing
Yeah, the game downloads the areas as you encounter them, to help lessen the initial download and get you into the game fast.
If you want to get everything all at once, then make a shortcut to the game (if you have it on steam, then the executable is probably somewhere like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\guild wars\Gw.exe"). Then right click on the shortcut and go to the properties, go to the shortcut tab, and add a space and "-image" to the end of the target line. Run that, and it should start downloading a bunch of stuff.
That shortcut won't actually run the game with that tag in it, though; it'll just download what you're missing and then shut down, so when you want to play, start it up like you normally do instead of using that shortcut.
Yay for more Rts so I don't have to be the only one!
No more versatile class out there in my opinion.
Viv has it right with the campaigns, but if you are playing a Ritualist, it would behoove you to get through the Echovald Forest area so you can capture the single most useful elite skill in the game for PvE, Signet of Spirits.
Glad to have more people aboard!

this is pretty much what I did
dude I made 40k yesterday farming hides and selling them off
took me two hours, tops
build was SoS, Vampirism, Pain, Shadowsong, Bloodsong, Summon, Painful Bond
I used something similar but drop Shadowsong for Armor of Unfeeling and...I had healing breeze in there just for heals because that boss uses seeping wounds and can do some serious damage.
But yeah, good money can be made. Just not into farming at the moment with other stuff I'm getting into.

Prophecies is kinda bland in comparison to the newer start locations but it's still good
Factions has my favorite Unique Professions available (Assassin and Ritualist), but I think a lot of people hate the fake-asia they made (I think it's hilarious)
Nightfall has the best storyline of any of the games, and some of the coolest skills available
you get to switch which continent your on whenever you want, once you do a certain quest chain which is probably like five or six hours into the game (more in prophecies). You also get to switch into Eye of the North whenever you want, after hitting a specific town in each game, and if you're at least level 10 I think they round you up to being level 20 for your Eye of the North time. Or something. There are two competing wikis, the official one is probably better. Just look stuff up whenever or ask here, we've got a bunch of nerds on staff ready to answer all your bullshit questions

Where's my Yakkington?!
at one point I pulled a 3-mob group and all three of them dropped hides

We also do high end dungeons, zones, and content in general.
the start of it can be kinda slow
but I can help you once you're through the introductory part of the game
(or I can make a starter character and run around with you)
It's been so long since I played I have no idea where to begin

i never played a Rit or anything before when I played since I only owned the first campaign
so I'm pretty stoked for this
although I was a healer before so we'll see how it goes
Teefour Seety
go
that's because it's Teefor Seety and I'm just dumb
there's no servers or anything? this is wild
what campaign did you start?

I remember because when I first used it I died as I pushed up to my spirits to use it
earshot is basically the aggro circle, I keep forgetting that
I like the two new campaigns but I'm not gonna lie, I sort of miss the charm I felt in Prophecies
Prophecies is probably one of the more tedious boring things I've ever done in an MMO.
i only ever used to own prophecies
maybe it's just because i preferred how my Ranger looked in that campaign
SO MANY FUCKING MISSIONS
how do I do things
want to play later?
I may have a thing going on with a ladyfriend tonight, but tomorrow night I'm free
help me run epics

This is the Guild Wars thread. Stop.
Take your silly DDO someplace else. Stop.
Heart, Rysk.
I would play guild wars again but I don't own anything but the first game. So i'm just waiting for 2 to come out so I can join in then.
