Fucking SMS Scammers

So I got a new cell phone about 2 months ago. And been loving it. Now for the part that is making me a bit axe crazy with rage.
Appears some how I got a "Premium Message" charge on my phone for some sort of Sms4GameCheats thing trying to charge me 9.99 a month for something I never signed up for. Remember seeing a random message from them but never opened it and just deleted it. This was like at the beginning of this month bill cycle.
I assume I can get Sprint to reverse and block the charges. But is there ways I can prevent this sort of bullshit from happening in the future? I never even opened the message and I'm being charged because THEY texted me it seems.
You're probably being charged due to the mobile address that's used for your new phone. It's probably nothing you've done yourself. Anytime I change numbers, or phones, I always head over to the national do-not-call list and re-add myself. I know the site says that it keeps your number up to date, but I always like to be sure.
If you are receiving mobile texts from this company, it is possible to have Sprint completely blacklist them. I had to do that with my old credit card/bank. They continued to spam my new phone/number after I had cancelled my checking account with them. I had to contact T-Mobile and have them completely block their transmissions.
I dont know that I would actually respond to a company in this way, it seems similar to trying to unsubscribe to spam mail, where they just get confirmation that someone is actually monitoring that number and will send even more texts.
Especially since texting STOP to them says that you are a sucker that signed up for these services in the past.
Well Sprint reversed the charges and has blocked them from sending any more messages to my phone so thats done.
Just wonder how the hell they got the charges put on in the first place if I never signed up for it.
Since its a new phone, I'm going to guess a new number as well? There's a chance whoever held the number previously "signed up" for the service by texting that number.
Yeah, the site allows you to set up whoever you want. It's not well-regulated.
I got hit with an iPhone scam a while ago (didn't fall for it, but got the call), where basically a customer goes in, buys a phone, and because the numbers are sequential dial numbers either side of it until they get someone else who just bought one.
