Melee dps always seem to have more tards than range.
Maybe that's because Range generally have less to deal with? I feel like we need a scientific study.
Naw, they both have their tards, it's just easier to tell with melee DPS since their threat threshold is lower than ranged and they are usually within cleave range.
Lot of it depends on the fight - lots of ICC fights are actually more melee dps friendly on normal mode because of boss abilities that target X players at range. Hard modes tend to be more stressful on the melee dps, but still depends a lot on the fight (Saurfang is never going to be a complicated fight for a melee dps other than 'don't use aoe you frigging retards')

As a smart guy and excellent healer (he said modestly), it's embarassing to admit how bad of a Tank I am. There's just something about the Tank rotation that I have trouble with.

I can't tank - I do pretty good dps and passable healing, but something about taking big hits triggers my panic mode.

I can't DPS, I've always been fine with tanking and healing but never really been at a point where I wasn't performing terribly as DPS. :rotate:
There's a whole forum dedicated to pally tanking (google "maintankadin," I can't remember the link off the top of my head) that has a lot of advice and guides for beginning pally tanks.
This too.
Despite what everyone says, tanking is not as hard as it appears. What's hard is dealing with geese. Also getting frustrated about gear too.
Instant queues are great but when you've been in H-HoR 8 times today (yes I've had that shitty of luck) and you lose the boots yet again to a dps DK, you get frustrated and angry.
The hardest part of tanking is starting out. Theres only so much even the best healer can do with a under geared tank. That said once you get geared you can carry the worst of idiots through a 5 man; before they nerfed AoE tanking skills, doing 25% of the total damage in a random was the norm on my druid.

I don't get it.
Huntards. Not really fair now though - melee have both paladins (how do my buffs work again) and death knights (Having leveled mine to 80 now I swear that playing a DK makes you stupider) now.

Gentlemen and Ladies, I give you the Rogue. The only class where, as Raid Leader, I have had to tell individuals on Vent to Vanish and Bandage during a Boss fight. Because if I didn't they wouldn't and then die horribly, probably while watching Slovakian trans-gender porn on their other monitor.

Yep, that 5.8k heal is definitely worth 8 seconds of the rogue not DPSing. Good call.
Seriously though bandages are borderline worthless and need to be fixed.

What's the Disciple of Khaine spell from WAR ? Resurrection-- I'll bring you back to life as long as you promise not to be as useless to me as you were before.

I'm in the same boat. I'm a damn good healer, I've solo healed ICC 10 for 6/10 before a shammy came to help out. Having been a holy paladin since the Molten Core days I adapted, but never ever have I been a great tank.. lucky, at best. It's just something you have to practice at. I recently decided to start out tanking normal LK dungeons and I'm starting to get the hang of it. Even in my only set of holy armor with Frost Needle pointing the way, I've been doing well so far.
So about this "Applying non-critical updates" floopity flop--is it just a display bug or what the deal? It sounds like the old HD is churning sometimes if I let it go so maybe it's defragging the MPQs or some such? Sheeeeyit. Hells if I know.
And do rogues need to burn vanish to bandage? That... doesn't sound right to me. I'm too tired to be thinking right now, I guess.

The nice thing about WoW is that if you are good at one thing you are probably good at everything else too (with a small amount of practice), because (imo) the core WoW skill is awareness. If you can pay attention and understand how to learn to get better nothing can stop you from being awesome and the door is open to you to the bat-shit-insane level of variety the game has to offer.

Stand, Coward.- Life is restored to a dead ally, and 20% of their health is recovered in the hopes they will prove less worthless to you in the future.
I really liked the melee healer thing. Stabbifying dwarves to heal orcs.

I agree. Comfort comes with playing the class and refining the play to fit the situation. My warrior is going to hit 80 tonight and I cant wait. I am having tons of fun tanking with him in normal 5 mans I cant wait to own heroics. I just like the activity required for tanking as a warrior. My DK is pretty well geared for tanking but since the blood only tank nerf I have lost interest in him. His tank rotation is down to a few buttons and a whole shitload of CDs.
But this is something WoW does pretty well. There is a difference in play between classes and between specs of classes. Getting used them is a fun challenge but there are simularities between them.

When was this necessary? Were the healers dead? Also, why vanish? If he pulled agro, it should be a reflex (even for the dumb ones). If not.... why vanish?
I say this as someone with 4 level 80 healers, and experience healing back to vanilla. As long as the rogue is not actively standing in the fire to continue DPSing, we will find a way to top him off. What situation were you in that required this?
The 10 man frostwyrms, going away when cata comes out or not? I have heard both sides and I'm interested because there's someone we have that would really like their main to get the achievement but the main is on another server and we don't think she'll get it before the 7th.
And, warlock pets change when they're moved servers/factions, right?
bowen on
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

The last I heard on this was they were not removing the Frostwyrms (or Ulduar proto-drakes), but they were making Invincible and Mimiron's Head rare drops rather than guarenteed from the hard mode.

1) No promises but it seems like the 10/25 man meta achivement drakes will be staying in Cata for Uld/ICC - they will not (and do not now) give 310% flying speed however.

The last official word on drakes was they'd give us a 1 month warning if they decided to remove them. Since we're within that window already, I'd have to say no. They don't give 310 skill anymore so really the only benefit is a sweet as hell looking mount. =D
Anyon know of a decent tanking weapon for mid 70s?
I've been using the Savage Cobalt Slicer after I got rid of my Crystalline Kopesh but I stupidly didn't clock the speed and it's just so horrendously slow I daren't instance with it.

Honestly you dont need to have a dedicated tanking weapon. Just grab the item with the most Sta and Str you can and go to town. What I did is just mix in some of the tanking quest rewards that had tons of str sta and dodge/parry with my dps gear and blew through instances.

Have you done the Wanted: Ragemane's Flipper quest in Zul'drak? It has several different tanking weapons to choose from as a reward.

I dunno. I still get it, but don't really run into any problems. I suppose I should just let it run without clicking "Play".
I let it "complete" all the time, it still comes up with "Applying non-critical updates" every time.
It looks like there is some wonkyness if it can't get a good connection to the p2p network that downloads/uploads the patch file where it will stick on that step for awhile - I've just started ignoring it if I know the patch has already been completed.

Last item I need to replace to be EPIC!
Nope. The only mail that drops are DPS legs.
I'm positive I saw mail caster wrists at some point.
There are cloth and leather caster boots. You could ninja those for the achievement.
