Hell yes, this looks great. I love the stories Mike and Jerry tell about their kids and in a series like this at least some of it has to be inspired by their own experiences. Can't wait to see Monday's idea!

It'd be pretty interesting if that kid is average. Most stories like this involve some sort of super-genius level outcast who eventually wins everyone over.

Just a regular ol' dumb kid would be an interesting twist.

E: His being named Solomon doesn't bode well for him not being a genius.

And they're doing three of these again, Yes?

These first two have been super interesting and really pretty and just generally great and so I can't wait to see the third!

This is great! Potential for some really moving character development. It's starting to tap into those universal themes

I'm still fairly sure I'll vote for Sand but...I'm wavering

I want more than anything to see a cowboy defy death and fate accompanied by a lady robot voice
but I'm getting a Homestuck vibe, I want to see where this goes. I want to see memorable characters that will stick with me. Just who is this Solomon? I'm curious now.

p.s. third panel, he has no elbows

I'm not voting for anything until I see all three.

Only partially because there's no voting form up until then.

But eh. At least this run is causing the Edits thread to fall all the way back to page 3.

    Jim Darkmagic.

We never got Darkmagic comics, which sucks because we got some great stuff from the other two. Now that we're doing a second round of this competition the chances that we will see a Darkmagic arc are much lower.

ALSO! Reading the Jim Darkmagic comic now made me confused because I had fallen in love with the edit where Tycho is in the audience going "MAGIIIIIC"

ETA - The newspost is up. Seems like this is the series that Gabe and Tycho would want to do the most.

Both this and Sand skirt some pretty overused cliches (Intentionally, I assume) that end up being subverted in a panel or two (this one especially). It's like they not so much kick you in the balls as lightly flick you in the balls, jolting one out of ones comfort zone--comfort with the genre they're writing in (be it western, sci-fi, whatever). Certainly makes one crave more.

If I had to go for which comic would make best use of Mike and Jerry's proven skills in writing & drawing, I would pick "The New Kid". It has more potential for humor, whimsy, inventiveness and rich character sketches.

Still, the novelty of Sand being their "first comic" is a pretty great foundation for a 'legacy/bookend comic of sorts...some kind of great encapsulation, Alpha and Omega style, of how their work has grown.

For now, though, I'm sayin' The New Kid.

    Thanks for that image.

That said, I love the potential. Just the last three lines – perfect moody kid, not quite willing to admit to the sheer brilliance of this particular event.

I am leaning towards Sand. I have more of an affinity towards robots than young children, despite the fact that I was one once.
    Seriously, screw kids. Robots!
Maybe he can meet Robo-Bo and they can have some serious hay-jumping adventures.

I think he's named Solomon solely so that his nickname can be "Sol", which is latin for sun and what a lot of sci-fi authors refer to as the name of our own star

That seems like the sort of thing Jerry would do

That, too. I was thinking with Sand being Western Space Jesus, Biblical undertones may be a part of all three ideas.

Or maybe it was just on Jerry's mind.

    Or maybe both or neither.

Every story arc will be Mike & Jerry asking Khoo for something mundane. And then he get's into increasingly bizarre situations involving terrorists, table tennis ninjas and hot soviet spies who for some reason which is never explained, are also after whatever he needs.

Every chapter will end with them going, " Man, Khoo... what took you?"
