Good to hear. I have a Dreamcast sitting around that I acquired somewhat recently, and Soul Reaver was one of the games I was looking forward to playing on it. I only played Blood Omen 2 because I found it for $3 and I knew a guy who liked it back when it came out.

When I'm playing something I'm new to, gameplay is at least 10x more important than story, so if one of the games in the series plays significantly better than the others, please recommend it so I can start with that one. I'll look up a plot overview if needed, and if one of the games catches my interest I'll be more likely to play through the lesser ones (even Blood Omen 2) for the complete experience.

Soul Reaver 2 is your best pick (it's on PS2 and PC only). However, you'll ruin your entire experience if you start with it, because the plot is that central to this series. You won't understand what's going on without having played BO1 and SR1, and when you do end up playing those they'll be instantly ruined by what you'll remember learning in SR2.

Soul Reaver 1's gameplay is almost as good as SR2's, and its plot is slightly more self-contained (you don't need that much knowledge of BO1 to understand what's going on, and it won't spoil everything the way SR2 does). I do still recommend starting with BO1 though, because it sets up the world of Nosgoth and the character of Kain and you'll be that much more invested in the series. I can't stress this enough: you don't know this yet, but you will care about the story a lot once you get into it.

I started reading Bone today, I guess I am late to the party on that

Also Sandman, but it's just sitting here and I haven't started it yet

was a fucking miracle to find these things buried in the mountain of manga that makes up the """COMICS""" section of the library.

Just watched the ending of Soul Reaver again on youtube.

Still remember how pissed I was at the time I first played it.

Then I got high and it was all relative.

yes, it does. It's all one story. You have to start from the beginning.

I've only ever seen it as a single collection so that shouldn't really be a problem.

    Is it still ongoing?

I hate starting things that are still ongoing because I fear the author will one day suddenly die in a car crash and I'll be there crying with a half realized story

It's sort of like the opposite of the DC Showcase collections.

Someday when I have spare cash I will pick up that phone book-sized behemoth and read Bone.

    Bone is really excellent.
I'm still kind of undecided on the last few parts though. It went to an almost entirely serious place that just didn't really seem to fit with the rest of the comic. It was technically good, but far from my favorite part of the series.

Cilla, the tone shifts much much earlier than you are remembering. And the seeds of those elements were always there.

The Dragon and the Lord of Locusts are both in the first issue.

I tried watching Fringe when it first started. I enjoyed it well enough watching it, but I could never get excited about wanting to watch it for some reason, so I stopped after maybe a half dozen episodes.

Same sort of thing happened to me. I watched the first episode or two and it didn't grab me.

But just last week I heard/read a snippet about the overarching storyline of the show and it made me perk up. I thought it sounded cool so I would at least give the first season a chance. I just hit episode 14 of the first season last night and they have dropped a bomb about what is going on with the Pattern, Walter, Observer, etc. that pulls everything together and gets me really excited to see where they take it.

I like that the show has a plot and they aren't just making things up as they go along. Also, either the episode directly correlates with the overarching story or they touch on the overarching story every episode as opposed to the X-files which would only touch on the black ooze plot every couple episodes.

    Good stuff.
