The Handsome Family: i'm unfortunately not so impressed with the live versions, which is kind of a killer for this genre, imo. i don't know if the guy is surly with the audiences, but his delivery seems almost mocking; the studio cuts seem more appropriate -- soft and sorrowful. in folk musics
that I have yet to find in other musics
and I love polyphonic textures in melodies
and bluegrass is the reigning champion in both of these fields.
Also the songs usually have really solid, emotive, driving chord progressions.
