CD/DVD not working on pc

I reformatted my hdd not too long ago and after i reinstalled everything my DVD and CD-RW would not work.

any help would be appreciated.

    What do you mean?

    Do the eject buttons on them still work? If not, then have you been doing anything to the hardware - physically inside the case?

    Are they listed in "My Computer"?

    If they aren't in "my computer" then does device manager see them? If not then does it show any unrecognized devices?

    Or do they just don't read discs now?

    eject buttons work and thats it. the thing that is weird is they worked fine until i got everything reinstalled then they stopped working.

    Have you made sure all the cables are seated properly (in the drive and also in the motherboard)? I think the eject button only depends on power, so if the IDE cable is disconnected/loose, the computer won't recognize the drive.
