The PC wasn't worth the time to make it a full version, you people are lucky to even get the game to begin with. Is that what you're suggesting? Because that's a bullshit stance.
I dunno, I don't see anything wrong with that. In many cases it's probably true. Some guy at the company does the math and realizes they're not going to sell enough copies to make the expense worth it, but they go ahead and do the port anyway to try to give people what they want, and all they get is whining in return.
You are lucky to get it to begin with. Nobody has any requirement to release their game on any platform to your exact specifications.
Is this is what we've come to? That because the version I want to get (and most of the time the only one I could get) is subpar compared to the others, that I should feel fortunate that I have it to begin with? That expression that dissatisfaction is now tantamount to "whining?"
Is my specifications so strict that asking to be treated the same is just too much? Well okay then, fine. Let this melodramatic asshole brood and write a LiveJournal post about how much the world sucks so hard and how I hate everythiiiiiing.
(Is LJ still even a thing?)
So you didn't buy the game? Okay. I can see being this upset if you purchased the PC version unwittingly, as a few others did, and had the bait n' switch happen to you post-currency exchange. It doesn't sound to me like you have a console? Well, then, you're making a decision not to purchase the version available to you. Unless you feel you got cheated after you made the purchase, what good does it do to rail on and on in this thread about how they won't get your money? As far as I know, none of the publishers or developers post here. We all get that the PC version is inferior now.

I have a Wii, which I had mentioned earlier.
You know, I haven't raged this hard in many of the other times the PC gets shafted on a game, and come to think of it, going ballistic on YDKJ seems very bizarre even to me. Probably because I was looking forward to this things so hard and then getting sticked? Seems like it. I wonder if it's better or worse that I'm passionate about something I really wanted to like versus snide indifference? Hrm.
Maybe it's also because it's just one of those days when someone suggests that I should be thankful that the PC even got this game, and that I'm whining about how they didn't meat the "specifications" that they don't owe me. Because asking for a comparable game is too much, I guess. And then I uncharacteristically snapped.
Whatever, no one cares about my foibles. This thread is no longer for me, I suppose, for realsies now. You folks enjoy your awesome versions now, I really mean that, and I'll be polite and shut up.

I missed that you own a Wii somehow. I don't really see what your viewpoint is, though. Do you imagine that refusing to purchase a good version of a game that you've been looking forward to because one of the versions is slightly inferior is going to make a difference in the future, somehow?
The butterfly effect doesn't really apply to sales thanks to statistics. I imagine that, out of all the people who were looking forward to this game, people refusing to buy one of the better versions just because another optional version isn't as good are statistical outliers and probably not even a blip on the radar of game developers.
So I mean, go ahead and cut off your nose to spite your face, I guess. Nobody here is begrudging you your right to be upset that your preferred port got shat upon, but if there's a better option and you're just not taking it because poo-poo to those nasty developers... well, I guess it'll be hard to drum up sympathy.
Additionally, if you truly are making some sort of stand against them in order to improve the future treatment of PC gaming, I doubt that simply not buying a PC game is a good way to send that message. Ironically, you'd probably send them more of a message by actually buying the stripped-down PC port because the more people buy PC games, the more likely they will be developed in the future.

Has anyone bothered to try to get a refund? I can't imagine Steam not refunding this.
I think everybody in this thread who has bought it based on false promises has already sent off for a refund, unless they weren't bothered by the changes.
And about the SceneIt controllers, this needs to go in the OP for others that might be frustrated like me during Jack Attacks. The big round buttons are not D Pads, they are simplified Left Analog Sticks, in that not only is there directional buttons, pressing straight down on it is a separate button. During a Jack Attack, you have to push directly in the center of the button. Hitting one of four directions will not actually register your buzz!
That sounds fiddly. Can you use any button on the Scene It controller during the Jack Attack?

No. It has to be the very center on the big round button. It's not fiddly, though. Once you realize that's how you have to press the button, it's easy. There should definitely be an explanation though during that round. "Press the big round button" isn't exactly accurate.
My fiancee was frustrated, telling me that her controller wasn't working. Once we figured out you need to press directly down, it was fine.

Funny you should ask. I did put in for a refund, and I just checked my email (I sent my request in at around 5:30 last night after verifying everything), and at 5pm today I got an email from Steam saying they are processing a refund to my account.
So yay! The system works!
Now just trying to decide between the PS3 and 360 versions of the game.

As with most software products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges on games, DLC or in-game items purchased on our website or through the Steam Client.
As a one-time customer service gesture we will issue you store credit for the amount of your purchase into your Steam Wallet. The credit will also remove the title or item from your account.
Please confirm that you would like us to proceed with this credit.
Not quite happy with this resolution, but I don't think I can argue this further.
Oh well. 360 version, here I come.

Looks like I'm finally going to have to buy a 2nd PS3 controller. Harumph!
Any word on how many hours of credits-content were recorded? We've been listening to the full things every time so far, with only one repeat (the holy vitamin water). Fucking hilarious.
Also, screw you guys, no gamestop in a 10 mile radius had any big button controllers, so I ended up buying Scene It for $30 to get them.
I justified it to myself by pretending YDKJ was $60, because it's totally worth that.
It's totally worth it to track down the big button controllers for this. You can find a new copy for $25 anywhere you look, or you can grab the controllers used from ebay or amazon for like $10.
This is the Amazon listing I bought mine from for $15, and it looked like it was new. Controllers still had the protective-sticky stuff over the front and everything.

I recognized some ads from previous games, so not all of it is new content.
Sigh, I guess jokes on me for not reading the features (or lack there of) before buying this for me and a buddy of mine.
And to think, I was telling all about this game to people at work! Guess I'll just have to warn them. Booo.
Do have a question, how are people finding the hidden question? (You know, the correct wrong answer) They pretty obvious? Or pretty tricky to spot?
(I watched the quick look, and though no one got it, I did not see an obvious one, just a couple of might be)
They're not always that obvious, especially if you're not replaying the episode just to find it. If you're trying to hit the right answer quickly if you don't see the Wrong Answer of the Game, then you're going to find it harder.
Cool, yeah that is why I thought they were a genius idea cause most of the time you feel pressured so it is much easier to go for the right answer, than looking for the wrong right answer.
I love the psychological warfare that comes up in this game.
Like, one person is really full of random trivia, but is a slow reader, so while he would get almost every question right he wouldn't buzz in until Cookie reads that answer. Other players began noticing this and watching for him to buzz in to know what to answer whenever they were unsure. So he starts mixing it up, waiting until another choice is read outloud before he answers.

Thanks for the link to the Amazon listing!
Wouldn't have thought of using those controllers, and I really want to support the game, but I was hoping to play this with my family. The problem being that my mother looks at modern gaming controllers as if they required an engineering degree to use, and I felt my familiarity with the standard controller would provide too much of an advantage.
This provides an extremely reasonably priced alternative. I can't wait to see the shit-talking that ensues after the screws begin to drop.

We did two episodes yesterday, found it on the first episode, totally missed it (and not sure where it was) on the second one. So it's not always super easy.

I'm confused. They aren't refusing to refund him at all. Sure, it's going into the Steam wallet and not back on their credit card, but it's still a refund.
I don't really see what your viewpoint is, though. Do you imagine that refusing to purchase a good version of a game that you've been looking forward to because one of the versions is slightly inferior is going to make a difference in the future, somehow?
Whether or not someone buys or doesn't buy something in protest is such a worthless argument.
"I didn't like it, so I didn't buy it!"
Good job, you're voting with your wallet!
Idiot, you're just depriving yourself/punishing the original developer/further proving your platform is unprofitable!
"I didn't like it, but I bought it anyway!"
Good job, you're encouraging the developer to do better next time!
Idiot, you're encouraging them to make shit/you're being a hypocrite/fanboy!
Honestly, either decision can be spun either way depending on what the person replying to sees as The Good Choice.

I don't think you understood what I was saying. I was saying it's not proving anything to the developers either way.
So does an online multi game on the PS3 run like complete ass during a Jack Attack for anybody else? Holy shit, it's damn near impossible and almost destroys all the goodwill of the rest of an episode.

There are other reasons for not buying a product than voting with your wallet. Like them being dicks and you not wanting to give money to dicks, even if it didn't affect them.
The people who published the PC version are not the same people who published the console versions, though.
EDIT: Like I said, he can cut off his nose to spite his face if that's what he wants to do, and nobody is begrudging him that. I just don't get why we all need to watch somebody cut their nose off.
I was piping up because that's not the post/discussion you actually responded to. I can see why you don't think the discussion of the validity of "you should be happy you got it at all" fits here but in that case tell all the parties to shut up, not just the one you obviously disagree with. He was just responding to someone else at that point.
