I know that many people have a lot of stress related to the Christmas Holiday, so here's an event listing for us to gather with people we AREN'T obligated to spend time with We'll pass around the plate for pizza, or do some kind of potluck, depending on who wants what.. Game Focuses will probably include:
-Advance Wars (yes it's my own personal cause these days!)
-Halo Reach (up to eight man games possible, unless someone else brings a console and TV)
-Rock Band 2 (or 3 if someone brings that)
-The Shelf (boardgames, to those who don't know what's what)
-there will possibly be a tron discussion group.
This is going down on Monday Dec 27th. Meet at my place around three, per usual?

We have a quasi-weekly tabletop RPG group going, Sumi was supposed to join in last weekend.
On that note, our next game is actually scheduled for the 27th. We've been doing Sunday's to avoid conflicting with your gaming days, guess it didn't work this time. (Albeit we did move it to the Monday due to xmas... guess the Sunday would've avoided conflict again). :winky:

Possibly going to your house if you a post a date for it before we have other plans.
A post new years gaming day on Saturday would be pretty sweet. :^:
Indeed, that would be, as the kids say, "Sweet"
I have to check with the boss, as it looks like our NYW (new years weekend) is filling up quickly, but post here if you ALSO think that NYD at my place is, in fact, Sweet.
If you don't post here, I'll have to play substandard EA Sports titles... and friends don't let friends play sports games. For realz.
That's two, and two is enough for me! From the meetup page:
So imagine that you're just done celebrating the new year and you're all hung over and shit. What's the best way to make it all go away?
Come over and play some of whatever. I just got Super Street Fighter IV and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, as well as a second copy of ODST, so it's group firefight if there's only a couple of us, or 8 player infection if we've got a full house!
Also, bring your DS (advance wars: dor), if you can!
RSVP here if you'd like, or at the meetup group if you can!
P.S. Sorry SmallLady, you know I'm not doing it JUST to exclude you, right?
Also, I'd appreciate a GameCube controller or two for SSBB or MKWii, and a couple of 360 controllers. Woo!
Additionally also, are there any votes on what to order in? I vote anything but pizza and curry. Tasty, but unreliable. There's a good chinese place nearby, and there's also greek/pizza if you want to go higher end. There's also other options, so start shouting out ethnicities and we'll see what falls out the tree.
so start shouting out ethnicities and we'll see what falls out the tree.
Doing that would get people beaten up in the neighbourhood I grew up in. :P
I'm good with any food options, including potluck or ordering in.
I'll drag my 360 HDD along for RB3 and can bring 2 controllers as well. I can also potentially bring along two more geeks if you want to meet two new folks who just moved to Vancouver less than two weeks ago.

Are they gonna boost my shit? If no, then giver! Also, can you forward this on to anyone who doesnt check the forums regularly (ie bombchelle, usererror, or the second player formerly known as muk muk)
yeah i think that next time might be about right for potluck, but im enjoying the reduced co ordinating and shit that comes with potluckery
Friday January 7 comes another installment in our good booze bad movie nights.
6:30pm Fogg N Suds for food and fishbowls of booze
10:10pm Season of the Witch at the theatres formerly known as Tinseltown.
Yes, this movie is not playing at Scotiabank.... so we are going to see it at a movie theatre that is still showing the damned Social Network movie. O_o
The theatres formerly known as Tinseltown are next to Stadium station for anyone not in the know, so they are not too much further than Scotiabank, especially if the Skytrain is utilized for two stops.
Post if you are coming so I can reserve a table big enough for everyone at FN' Suds.

I'm def not down for the Witchening, but I'm going to have to make a game time decision on fishbowls. On the one hand, I should spend more time with GW, on the other, my new years resolution is to drink more.

Booked our reservation for Friday at 6:30pm. There is a game that night as well (so bring your pucks if you are in the puck club), accordingly they will be busy.
We have a reservation for 16 so anyone not on the RSVP list may not have a seat (they will try to accomodate lurkers but no promises on space availability). :P

Why can't she come?
I'm guessing it was a stop by for a drink on his way home from work thing.... but yeah good question. lol.

It might not be immediately apparent, but GW isn't well suited to loud, drinky environments, esp if there's an 'ockey game on.
On a related note, I MAY have to bow out completely, for a complicated set of reasons involving my mother in law, my game group, and assorted other chicanery. Enjoy your gigantic drinks!
However: Please note that GW and I are hosting another game day at our house, on Jan 29, 3pm... This is cross posted from the meetup group:
Okay, so we know for sure that my mother in law is going to be gone by this day... Not that there's anything wrong with her, we actually have a good relationship. It's just that if she's here, I can't game with you people... So here's the thing.
We are going to play four swords adventures! You know, that game on GameCube where you need four GBAs and link cables and shit? Yeah, that's the one.
You are going to come over here, and we are going to play through as much of this game as humanly possible, earning force gems, working together, throwing each other down pits, and shit. Should be good...
So dust off your GBA and bring it! Let me know if you're bringing your GBA or if you're just mooching off of those of us who can't bear to get rid of anything. Ditto for game link cables, as I have two GBAs and three link cables. If Taylor comes, we're good for link cables, but still short for GBAs.
Of course there will be the usual Halo/RockBand/Fighting Games and what not... As well as board games.
OH! Right, and a word to the wise: This is a potluck function, which means if you want to come, then you have to bring something. If you cant' cook, buy something. Post what you're bringing here, so we don't get six loaves of garlic bread and a fourpack of strongbow. That's weak.
So to summarize: I MAY see you on Friday (but likely not), and I HOPE to see you on the 29th.

Yeah if anyone can figure out how to buy tickets on the Cinemark website let me know, or pick me up one. ;-)
Otherwise I'll be stopping at the theatre on the way to F N' Suds to pick up my ticket.
