Did anyone else see the Green Hornet movie last night? I thought it was pretty cool.
The theater I went to was showing it in 3D so it ended up being the first 3D movie I've ever seen. It had some great action scenes and the relationship between Britt Reid and Kato was really funny.

I just don't get why Rami would introduce John Jameson into the franchise as an astronaut, and then not use him at all in Spider-man 3. He could have brought the symbiote to earth like in the 90's cartoon. Was he afraid people would think he was copying Species 2 or something?
I thought Venom being in Spider-Man 3 was large in part the studio/production thinking that one villain wasn't enough. I thought Raimi was going to introduce Venom at the end of the movie and he would be the focal point of the 4th film. It always seemed to me Venom was so out of place in the movie and then Sandman's character progression also suffered the most because he was cut short. First they fight, then they fight again, now we're pals and I'm sorry, now I'm dust - peace out Spidey.
I was always mixed on Venom in 3. On on I understand it was studio medling that put him in it so I can't blame the movie too much for not doing service to him. But Raimi should have tried harder to mesh him into the movie even if he wasn't his favorite character.
I also hate it that apart from James Franco, Topher Grace was the best part of that movie and I would have to see more of him.
Venom and retconning Sandman into Spidey's backstory were the worst parts of 3.
3 would have been so much better if it had been just Green Goblin II and Lizard (since they had the setup), and didn't have some crappy team-up at the end but rather "Lizard taken care of, oh crap Harry is trying to kill me!".
Also, Marvel needs to get the damn license back so we can have a chain of Spider-Man Team-Up movies.
Jameson and Aunt May's casting were some of the only good parts of that franchise. Doc Ock and what'shisname Lizard guy could have been good, but the scripts were so damn awful.
Screw you guys, the first two Spider-Man movies were good. I don't care what you say.
The third one sucks, so the minor problems with the first two get blown up into "SEE RAIMI NEVER KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET A DECENT SPIDER MOVIE?"
The third movie doesn't magically make the first two terrible by association.
The first two were great for their time. I didn't like the first X-Men movie, so for me, Spider-Man was the first good comic book movie in recent memory that I saw. Even as I was watching the first two movies, I could see things I didn't like; overall, though, they were average-to-good, which in comic-book-movie terms meant good-to-great.
Since then, though, we've had X2, the Batman reboot, Iron Man, Sin City, 300, Watchmen. Better movies than the Spider-Mans (in my opinion); Spider-Man was still there to get the ball rolling. I may not love it as much as I did when it came out, but I think it was a solid movie, and I'm pretty sure it served to show that comic book movies don't have to be crappy.
Also, I have endless love for Alfred Molina in any role, so.
I think the first two movies still hold up decently, but as much as Tobey was a good Peter he never was a good Spider-Man. There was never any real fun in the role.
I know some people hate on Sandman (Communists, mostly), but he was probably my favorite part of the entire franchise (as much as I disliked Spider-Man 3 overall). I think the special effects were really well done, and the acting was really good.
(Also, the daughter subplot reminded be of Spider-Man: Reign, and I'm the only person in the world who loves Spider-Man: Reign, so there was also that.)
The biggest reason Spectacular Spider-Man works is that it's pretty suffused with humor. It doesn't even have to be great, it's just a very endearing character trait if done right.
I actually just saw it today! It was indeed pretty darn funny. The action scenes were really well done too. The characters weren't always written very well, but overall I liked it quite a bit.
Yeah, Green Hornet was actually pretty good. Not gonna lie.

Enjoyed it too. Granted if you hate Seth Rogen you'll hate Green Hornet, but I thought the guy who played Kato and the directing saved the movie.
Funniest part
By the dumb look that's been on your face for the past 5 minutes it looks like you figured it out
I thought it was a good take off of the hole "batman" archetype. Was way better then I thought it was going to be. The trailers do not do it justice. Also, Christoph Waltz is fantastic.

I'm still in the minority of liking the third one the best. It's just so weird. And the fight scenes were awesome.

The insanity of the Harry v. Peter no costume fight and Tophers whole performance at least made it a laugher.
