Another superb newsletter though the grab-bag was a little lacking. Quests look really fucking awesome, I can't wait to play this game.

God, what a shitty signup process. Different login names and "nicknames"? And they can't be the same? And you can't have a nickname already taken? Then what's the point of nicknames? :x

That Barnett interview was fantastic. I'm glad to see an MMO developer be so "human" in an interview like that instead of regurgitating a bullet point list of information we already know.

I'm not sure if I answered that correctly. Do you work in the industry if you work for a company that happens to have competely unrelated divisions that may or may not publish games?

I don't know if that automatically disqualifies your or not.

I answered yes as well. I work for a computer software company that has absolutely nothing to do with games. If it was an automatic disqualifier though, I don't think it would be in there as a question.

In reality, my own experience with documenting and QA-ing software makes me a better candidate as a beta tester.

(I never got a confirmation email. I may need to sign up again.)

Out of curiosity, why might having links to the industry serve as a disqualifier for beta testing applications?

It could also very well help your beta chances, depending on what your links are.

Letting them know that I alpha/beta'd WoW/expansion, Shadowbane and DAoC because of industry links is a boon, not a curse.

However, on the other hand, being a dungeon/zone developer for a new Warcraft expansion would probably keep me out.

(I'm not either of these things, its just an example)

It's bad enough Warcraft copied WH content to begin with, now you're going to steal the MMO content too?

    Oh snap!

'Cause I'm sure one individual MMO fan who happens to be employed by Blizzard will be part of some nefarious plot to lift further stylistic choices from WAR.

Hell, I bet Mythic would outright give Andy C an invite, just 'cause of his past contributions to all things GW.
