You know, I realized that the most important thing for a world to feel "large" to me is draw distance. High resolution textures are nice, but not a requirement. When I can stand on a hilltop and see for a couple miles in every direction, and I can actually see things in that distance, it makes me feel like I'm playing a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game.

Same for me, LOTRO and Perfect World really set the bar for this.

I felt WoW achieved that in tanaris, but everywhere else feels really claustrophobic.
edit: OMFG that GIS of tauren ...... how can that possibly be on the first page?! Shouldn't have tried that at work.

Arathi Higlands, Nagrand, Netherstorm, Hellfire, Silithus, Azshara kind of, all give that same feel if you have those alternate graphics settings on to get the extra clip and view distance.

It's on the first page because it's awesome :winky:
is that lotro? good to see turbine using the exact same ground textures as ac2.
AC2 was beautiful and I really enjoyed playing it.
i did not say it wasn't.
it really looked pretty amazing. i also really enjoyed playing it up to a point and 1-30 in ac2 is still the best mmo time i've had. ac2 also had the best classes so far i think.
really wish ms hadn't pushed it out the door so incomplete. it never recovered at all.
That macro that cranks up WoW's graphics really makes a world of difference. Draw distances are a big part of immersion to me, and I'm sooooo glad I tried out the graphic crank-up.

Link to the post that shows the commands to return it all to normal too, in case people's comps slow right down. I'd do it but i'm lazy and proud of it.
The only problem I've found with the enhanced graphics macros is that it makes places like the dead scar where the basic doodads are something other than grass look absolutely absurd as you have 30 trillion skulls and bits of bone sticking up out of the ground.

Saban, I am sad over the fact I never got into Everquest when it was in it's prime. I jumped into FFXI Online just before Promathia came out too, so you could say I enjoyed the game a bit before it plunged into the shithole it is today. And unfortunately, I came into WoW too late to enjoy such epic content as Molten Core, Blackwing Lair. Hopefully I'll hit 70 before WoTLK comes out. Oh, and I had a brief stint in LOTRO before they nerfed Minstrel.
Anywho <_< How is EQ? Is everyone just the max level or are there newbies frequently coming into the game?
Why the heck are there WoW interface elements in EQ1? Are the original ones so shit?
I was going to ask that but I was unsure if it was real
The original UI is not bad. I have not really had a need to add anything to mine other than maps. However as with all things people love to mod the shit out of stuff.

My guild is actually only 3 months old, everyone started fresh and from scratch for the most part and we're already raiding 3 nights a week. Mind you the content is 3-4 years old but old content in EQ doesnt invalidate itself every time a new expansion comes out and things remain challenging.
My interface looks like WoW because its a WoW Emu interface, the guy also made SWG/DAoC Emu interface pages too.

Yeah, that's what I want to spit on Blizzard for. They should have thought ahead because I would have really liked to have experienced "old world" raiding content. Raising the level cap was a stupid thing to do.
So, you're into content 3-4 years old currently? How do you decide what to do?
Basically decide what everyone wants to do and what would be challenging for us. Those screens are from Citadel of Anguish, from the Omens of War Expansion. That's the 8th expansion of 14.

Yeah, they're retooling Naxx as a level 80 25-man. Blizzard said they felt not enough people experienced it at level 60 since it came out so close to BC and it was one of their better dungeons.

25 man are you sure? Because that will still be excluding a fuckton of the WoW playerbase. They really should make it a 5 or 10 man if they want everyone to explore it.
I think sunwell really needed a 10 man. We're struggling to form a 25 man guild right now, and I'm tired of everyone playing musical servers only to come together onto a crummy server with one guild clearing BT.

I don't think their goal is to make it possible for everyone to see the instance, they want to make it an attainable enough goal so that more people will see it. Getting 40 dimwitted morons together with enough time off to waste their life on playing together every damned night to get the right enough gear to actually stand a fucking chance at getting past the first boss was difficult, getting 25 dimwitted morons together is slightly easier and (going out of a limb here) it's probably not going to be the highest tier dungeon in the expansion.
Alternatively: Blizzard knows how interesting Naxxramas is to their customers, so they're going to use it again so that they get more $texas.
I for one want my own Dreadnought set, although i'm not sure about whether i'd want a recolouring. What would you recolour it in to? Purple? Brown? Meh...

Yeah man, when I was GISing Tauren, that was exactly what I was looking for.
Then I GIS'd Tauren.
In conclusion, I would like to formally state that I hate you all.

I just hope the sets aren't just recolorings of T3 -- Dungeon Set 3 was T3 done right, imho.
They already said that they were going to use T3 recolourings.
