Its big failing is that it tries to be three films, one after the other
there is the short film at the beginning about finding the artifacts
then there is the feature length about a psychopathic computer
then it is a weird film about the nature of human experience
you have to go in expecting all three or you'll be sitting there bored wondering why they are at all connected
That's not a failing - Kubrick achieved exactly what he wanted with it. You or others might not personally enjoy the method of storytelling, but that doesn't make it a failing on his part.
I liked it, I'm just saying it's a difficult film
You have to go in knowing what to expect or you'll come out confused the first time
Not gonna disagree with this.
It's among my favourite films of all time, easily. But I completely understand the hate for it. You have to understand its pacing and let yourself get into it.
That being said, I think it's one of a small list of perfect movies. All of those parts are important.
When the apes find the obelisk, they jump rapidly forward by being able to use tools, or more specifically, weapons. When they find the obelisk on the moon, they jump rapidly forward in technology by creating HAL 9000 computers. When Dave finds it drifting through space he jumps rapidly forward in his consciousness, which Kubrick posits is the next necessary step in human evolution.
Pay attention to the music that plays when the obelisk is on screen. It's the same song, and that's the only time its played, except over the black screen at the beginning and the intermission. That black screen is supposed to be us looking directly at the obelisk, and the crazy colours at the end are flying toward us, suggesting we need to make a jump forward as well.
Its a simple tale of the dangers of our technology surpassing our ability to handle it. Kubrick says quite directly to the audience that we need to expand our consciousness to match our expanded technological abilities.

And fuck Lynch, I only marginally enjoyed Mulholland Drive when I was younger, and I had to stop watching Lost Highway after 30 minutes in. After recently reading Dune, I decided to watch his version of it. It's quite possibly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I have no interest in seeing anything he does.
Oldboy, I did not enjoy. Parts of it were pretty and well done (hallway fight), the story was eh, I don't find anything in there believable in the slightest. And not in the "oh it's just a movie" way, I mean, internal logic the "villain" goes through such extremes to set up this stupid revenge plot it made the entire thing unenjoyable. I also made a critical mistake and watched the version they had on Netflix, which was dubbed. The english dub was absolutely terrible, and I guarantee if I had watched it with subtitles I would have liked it a whole lot more. But it's forever destroyed for me because of that.

the part where the guys sat in the restaurant in mulholland drive
and he is obsessing over his dream that a monster came around the corner and scared him to death, and then right afterwards a monster comes around the corner and scares him to death
i got spooked around corners in builtup areas for weeks
Oh yeah Fantastic Planet is awesome. I saw it in a class at college, and wanted to watch it again but the DVDs were out of print. Then I got excited when I found the full version on Google Video, then I got extremely disappointed when I saw someone changed the awesome soundtrack to be shitty techno, completely ruining the movie.
Only because he barely tells you that the first half of the movie is a dream.
is that what was happening?
I don't fanatically read all those weird David Lynch dissection sites, but just based on the specific cues in the movie, his general themes, and some of the stuff in the TV pilot, it seems like the best read of the major plot.

Erik the Viking is a Terry Jones film. Different Terry.
Unbreakable was quite bearable.
The Sixth Sense, however, is a godawful piece of shit of a movie.
To be fair.
The movie also started out pretty dull.
Now I feel like I must get my berserking on
ooooohhhhhh
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.

PSN: Robo_Wizard1

Don't you wanna know they got in there?

Ya I've watched it a ton of times, and still can't make much sense of it, but it's still fun to watch, also
Validation for posting this!
All these things that I've done
edit: Also not a movie as much as a radio show, but these guys never failed to break my brain, they will trip you out even if you are sober.
Firesign Theatre, How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all
I hate to be that guy
But
Heavy Metal
I mean, I was stoned, but watching that movie sober seemed like watching a 3D movie without glasses
This came with the dvd on a burned disc

It turned out to be weird silent family videos but I was half expecting some Ring-type shit
It looked like the 70's, and like they'd had film reels transferred to a DVD I guess
It was weird
is that what was happening?

Fuck that show.
It was just a guy in a room, and characters would come and go in and out of it, and converse with him
and he couldn't get out of the room
remember when shinji jerks off on his unconscious friend?
Good times, man.
