Hey, a fun new bug appears! None of the caravan cards I buy off traders actually get added to my Caravan deck. Like, I have them in my inventory under Misc, but when I go to play a game of Caravan none of them are available.
drop them and pick them back up seems to work for most people
Tried doing that, dropped every single card I had in my inventory and then picked them up again and still now go. Kinda sucks playing with only the basic deck of cards your given at the start, oh well.
You have to put them into a container or a companion's inventory, close and then re-open it. That worked for me until I got a mod that fixed it.
So I've started writing a mod to remove all the bullshit tiers and level scaling and dice rolling from certainvendors so that they have all the appropriate shit there every time they refresh their stock. Got it working for the Silver Rush, so now it's off to the Gunrunners and BoS and that should about cover it for traders worth a damn (I'll bet there's probably some dude with the Legion I have to edit too, but I'll save that until I do my Asshole run later).
Only thing that sucks is that apparently if you try to set the health of an object in the vendor's chest to a low level (or hell, maybe if you dick around with it at all) it won't show up in the trade menu for whatever reason so everything's gotta' be set at 100%. Still, better than fucking around with the RNG for something good (and make it so that certain items actually appear - I think I only ever found an Assault Carbine like TWICE in all 100+ hours I've played, both times from the same quest).
Sounds worthwhile. Keep us posted.
That sounds awesome, but could you also make it so they have more caps? I've been running around carrying a bunch of unique items that I can't use, but also can't sell because nobody has enough caps to buy them from me. The Gun Runners should be rolling in it, but they usually only have a few thousand.

Companions who disappear will usually return to their recruitment location after a period of time, usually a week or so. Note that they might not reappear, and the time it takes might vary. It's a really annoying bug to run into.
I just now realized that the Cazadore-infested route into Red Rock Canyon is one of two ways into the area. I had been going down that road with my characters all this time. It was fun testing out how effective Pushy was on Cazadores despite me not having 100 Unarmed yet.
Companions that dissapear apparently re-appear when you use the elevator in vault 22 ( the plant infested one). It requires 50 repair to fix the elevator. I however did not have enough repair skill to use the elevator and my companion still was returned to me as I reached the lower levels of the compex.
Alright, I have finished my first mod. It's a quick fix for energy weapons, should work fine and not overpower them against other guns. Feel free to leave comments here or on the Nexus.
I really feel like instead of increased damage, energy weapons just need an early Armor Piercing option. Radscorpions laugh at laser weapons, and you can run into them very early. By the time you get to Gauss Rifles/Tesla Cannons, Energy Weapons are absurdly powerful. I noticed you didn't change those, which is good.
I do think the gatling laser/RCW are lacking punch though. Really the problem is any rapid-fire weapons just suck completely against armor.
Well, increasing the base damage improves how well they punch through armor. It's not that they really need an AP option, it's just that the laser rifle doesn't need to be weaker than the 9mm pistol against armored guys. I might work on a perk or ammo version or mod soon that improves the armor penetration for lasers though.
Anyone know how to fix the radio if you've tried (and failed..) modding it? I wanted to put the 100+ GNR on but I wasn't able to get it working now its just silence until Mr. new Vegas speaks up.

Kinda eerie
Did you add 100 songs with it? You have to use the one that matches how many songs you have else it'll break.

I never got the track packs downloaded properly so I just tried deleting the whole thing.
so am I the only one who screwed up "I put a Spell on You" and can't find a save that doesn't lose me 10+ hours ?
told bloody Curtis since I didn't even know the Concourse had an exit (so dark , couldn't see it) and the blinker to the control tower was odd :I...and I didn't want to look up the quest because of spoilers...ergh.. now the monorail is doomed.. so prolonging the quest.
Sad part is I think I just told him because I was juggling like 15 quests...bleh
The track Stars of the Midnight Range was intended to be included, but an error linked the entry in the radio track list to the MP3 file for Big Iron, which causes Big Iron to be played twice as often as other tracks, and occasionally play twice in a row.
Caused by a bug. Big surprise.

Hmm. So while dicking around with the AMR a little while ago, I finally broke the 30>31 barrier from a mod I'd whipped up earlier and forgotten about. Apparently going beyond level 30 makes it possible to push your skills over 100, though I didn't dare do so that particular time.
EDIT: Jesus Christ, some of these vendor tables are an absolute mess, reloading supplies and ammo stuck in things like armor and weapon lists. How the hell this shit can work is beyond me.
Does Vulpes Inculta offer any assassination missions? I might go Legion just to do those missions. Is it possible to maintain an independent Vegas and still do those missions?

TalkieToaster needs to figure out the shit behind the NV companion system so he can upgrade his companion mod for it. Rollin' with an Armitage clone in FO3 was pretty sweet.

I have to say I'm really happy with the ability of a Speech-based character to succeed in this game so far. Problem-solvin' with a silver tongue, not relying upon my gun, is a nice way to actually, you know, roleplay in this RPG.

Even with a 4 in charisma and speech a distant 6th on my skill list, talking is definetly a viable option in NV. I plan on bumping up both stats in future playthroughs since it is horrible being unable to make use of the speech options provided.
Y'know, I just had a realization while I was contemplating my next move for vendor decrapification.
You know what we've been missing from Fallout ever since the old games?
DWARVES.
Where've all the dwarves gone? I know they weren't exactly abundent in number, but they were there as yet anothre reminder of what weird shit being born in a post-nuclear wasteland can do to you. But in FO3 and New Vegas? Not a single one.
EDIT: Really? Despite the fact that in many cases the games referred to them as, y'know, dwarves?

You know, I never realized those people were dwarves in Fallout 1 and 2.
It was never really mentioned, I just thought they were, I dunno, short.
I'm currently on my 4th run of this game, (should be my 2nd to last run), its amazing to me that I'm STILL ruunning into tons of places and quests that I haven't seen or done yet. I think I have my last character planned out though. Seeings as how playing with guns is so easy gonna actually make the Sniper Rifle character that everyone talks about being so strong. To compensate for this gonna make my last playthrough Very Hard And Hardcore. The run I am on has been an Explosives, Sneak, Science character...This has been great fun but I don't recommend it for a person who likes to packrat stuff as mines and grenades can get heavy when you start stockpiling them. (Once you do get a missle launcher though, Gun Runners almost always has High Velocity and/or High Explosive Missiles in stock which, while expensive, are hilariously great fun to shoot at deathclaws.
I'm also confused at some of the hate the engine/graphics are gettings, granted my rig is fairly new so I can run everything maked with a good dose of AA, and things can be a little orange/drab, but this is supposed to be the desert after a Nuclear war...
Looks good to me....and this is just a random screenie that I took from the top of a tower...
I think it's a mixture of four factors:
1. Gamebryo is an ancient engine, and it shows in the general "feel" of the game - responsiveness, bugs, graphical technologies, etc.
2. It's an open-world game being often compared to linear shooters.
3. Bethesda are talentless at texturing...
4. And outright hilarious at animation. To the point where they admit that it sucks.
With mods to remove the brown murkiness and use the lighting capabilities of the engine to their full extent, a subtle DoF mod to give a nice desert haze in the distance, and texture packs to make everything look better close-up, I'm willing to say that F:NV can be a very beautiful game visually.
I really think the Mojave should have been more desert-y, like the dry lakes. Those actually look really good.
And I thought it would be more flat, but that's probably an engine restriction too. They need the hills because it grinds to a halt if you can see too far.
They really need to get a new engine. And id is sitting right there.
I hope Obsidian gets a stab at doing another Fallout game with the next engine Bethesda will use for the series. It will be a perfect combination of a good engine (hopefully) and good storytelling. It will also probably be even more buggy.
Got an annoying bug with E-DE's quest. Had a conversation with a dude through it, asking me to come meet him to chat in person, unfortunately once the conversation ends I don't get my HUD back On xbox, is there any way round this?

You thought wrong, both times. This place is anything but flat, and doesn't resemble a dry lake bed. Except for Lake Mead, which - at this rate - will be exactly that in 3-5 months. Vegas and the surrounding area is brown and rocky. Especially as you head north. Or west. (Or east or south.)
Hmm... ever since Vault 22 there's been intermittent "slow motion" periods where everyone moves like they're trying to run through water or something. And it's even effecting things like reloading or bringing up the pipboy, which normally comes up so so fast I can barely even see the animation, is occasionally taking almost 2 seconds.
Anyone have any idea how to fix it?
In case anyone else has this problem, change clampfps back to 0, and just deal with the microstuttters
I haven't driven through Nevada yet, but I've driven to the Grand Canyon and covered a lot of Arizona, and there was shitloads of flat land there. That entire state is mostly desert except for the Grand Canyon, which basically makes up for all of it's flaws. I always figured Nevada would be similar. And I'm pretty sure if New Vegas was to scale for the real Nevada, there would be tons of more flat desert land. I think it would have aided the atmosphere if we got more of that, actually, but then if that were the case the map would have to be really huge. The only really barren feeling desert area is the main space inbetween goodsprings and vegas, along the main road.
I grew up in the California Mojave. If I had to describe it, I would say its generally flat with mountains interspersed so as to define different largish valleys, and the occasional mountain or hill rising out in between.
Which is basically why the area is called the Basin and Range Province. On a good day with a bit of elevation you can see maybe fifty miles...

I found a schematic called Billboard but it doesn't seem to do anything. I think it's a quest item I just stumbled upon.

yea I got that one, along with the Rock-it Launcher which of course doesnt work in NV.
So much junk lying around.. nothing to use it for. Was really looking forward to new cool recipes.
I found a Rock-It Launcher schematic and it did nothing as well.
I think Obsidian just dropped the ball hard on crafting. If you get a recipe directly from an NPC it works though.

I'd imagine very similar to the barrel of the Gauss Rifle.
Hardcore- thumbs up!
Unarmed- Nice, but stupidly overpowered at later levels. One shotting Alpha Deathclaws and such.
Legion- Ugh. I'm going to enjoy killing Caesar in every other playthrough. I seriously despise that pompous ass now.
