Brotherhood patrols have "Brotherhood T-51B" which is faction armor, non-faction T-51B can be bought from the vendor in the Brotherhood base and found on a certain promontory filled with deathclaws.

Power armor shouldnt be weightless, but it should provide a carry weight bonus equal to the weight of it and a power armor helmet.

That is effectively exactly the same as it being weightless while worn :P

But yes, if you never played Oblivion, the "Feather" effect gave a bonus to carrying capacity. Hence my curiosity to whether that function is still present anywhere in the engine and if it could be modded onto power armors.

    not the same thing

weightless power armor means you can walk around with 5000 power armor sets in your inventory.
    Maddoc wrote: »
It basically ought to be weightless or at least very light while you're wearing it where carrying capacity is concerned.

Basically the point I was getting at, is that it's silly that it encumbers you while you're wearing it. :P

yeah but you cant remove the weight of an item when you wear it, so the best thing is to give it a carry weight+ equal to its own weight.

With the exception of hardcore mode where it definitely makes sense, I don't really see any gameplay positives for having an weight system anyway. Inventory management could be one, but that could be just as easily solved with a max number of items allowed in the inventory, instead of based on weight. The presence of a perk that allows you to fast travel despite being over the limit acknowledges it as a gameplay mechanic, but it just seems like an incredibly dated one

because traveling with 100 power armors is the same as 100 boolits?

Power armor in general in the bethesda era of fallout games has just been amazingly disappointing (basically for the reasons previously mentioned) - it was an actual perk, an exciting perk, to be able to use them in the first couple games, but the amount of drawbacks in the FO3* universe to wearing it just causes me to stick with ranger/sneak armor almost exclusively. I hope that'd be something they look at in the future, but I won't hold my breath.

This is the future. This is what we built. This is what we wanted. It must have been. Because we all had the fucking choice, didn't we? It is only our money that allows commercial culture to flower. If we didn't want to live like this, we could have changed it at any time, by not fucking paying for it.

So let's celebrate by all going out and buying the same burger. -transmet

I agree. Wearing T-51b feels like wearing Daedric Armor for some reason.

I've remedied the issue slightly by modding the travel light perk to work with all armor types, but it's really just a band-aid. Power armor doesn't feel right in Fallout unless it completely breaks the game imo

If I had a little more know-how I'd make my own travel light-esque perk that only worked for heavy and power armor, which would at least allow you to run at a normal speed instead of the slow as shit default power armor running speed.

Arcade Gannon is missing. I did his quest (The way you should if you want to keep him), and he isn't anywhere. Not at the Lucky 38, not at the Mormon Fort, not in Remnant Bunker. What happened? I've done the NCR path of his quest before without him leaving.

Have you been to the vault that has an elevator you need to repair? (Don't want to be more specific in case of spoilers).

If not, go there and repair it, and he should appear right behind you. Random I know, but it worked when I lost Boone.

OXM rumor: ZeniMax To Acquire Obsidian Entertainment
In the most recent issue of Official Xbox Magazine (January 2011), the Crystal Ball mentions a company that seems to be in the news a lot lately, ZeniMax Media, who has recently acquired many companies including MachineGames, Arkane Studios, and id Software. These have added on top of their major game development company, Bethesda Game Studios. Well according to OXM, whats the next company that they will be acquiring? Obsidian Entertainment, the developers of Fallout: New Vegas and Alpha Protocol among others. The question is, how far is ZeniMax going to take this? They seem to be gobbling up developers at a startling pace. We’ll just have to wait and see, for all we know they could continue to grow and compete with the likes of Electronic Arts and Activision.

"With ZeniMax on a sending spree, who might they gobble up next? The ball sees Obsidian (Fallout: New Vegas) as a prime target for the Fallout IP-holder."

When I played through that quest I also lost him. From what I could find online at the time, no matter what choice you make you lose him and it's either due to a bug or it's intentional. It does make sense that he'd leave your party afterward, and it is near the end of the game, so I assumed that was just the way it works.

Does ZeniMax own the rights to Fallout or does Bethesda? Because that acquisition sets up a perfect world.

Bethesda designs the sets, Obsidian writes the game and Carmack handles the coding.

Wait. So about the vault of companion returning:
I repaired the Vault 22 elevator. Will simply riding it restore Gannon to me? Like I said, this situation is odd, because I did his quest in a previous playthrough and I got to keep him, TAKING THE EXACT SAME CHOICE in his quest. He even told me he was going back to mormon fort to settle some stuff for a minute, and HE DID NOT give me his armor.

I will say this, though: It's scary good, emphasis on scary. I assume since everything Here is public knowledge, I can say that the Ghost People in the screenshot are bastard-hard to kill and if the fog and crumbling architecture seem vaguely silent-hill-ish, well, I came away from it thinking that was exactly the point.
Oooh, yeah, Metro 2033's a pretty good comparison. That feeling of "Where the gently caress did we go wrong?"

I lost ED-E when I was making the run to Nellis. It was my first playthrough so I had no idea what to expect. I start running, and BOOM BOOM BOOM arty everywhere. So I die a few times, quick load, and finally make it. It was actually pretty awesome. But then I look around and no ED-E. I retrace my steps and no corpse even, the artillery literally blew him out of existence. I needed a bunch of console commands to get him and his inventory back. The elevator trick didn't work for me.

They refused to wait outside and refused to wait near the entrance (and Rex refused to not swim in the swampy irradiated water).

Also I guess my post on CONELRAD got lost with the forum crash, but it seems like some of the most fitting music you could imagine for Fallout's atmosphere. The perfect mix of jingoistic anti-communism and happy-go-lucky nuclear lovin'. It is, however, frightening how many songs exist singing about radiation, fallout and mining uranium.

So I started my third run-through, fully intending to go Energy Weapons this time around... mostly because I want to see that chain-reaction Perk.

I just hit level 12, made it to the Strip, and I've got something like 70+ points in Guns, and < 30 in Energy Weapons. It's like there's no energy weapon that can actually kill anything before you get to the Gauss Rifle. Maybe a Plasma Rifle... (the unique one certainly worked well enough in FO3). But the Laser Pistol and the Laser Rifle are a freakin' joke.

Seriously, what's the point of (whomever) going to the expense of developing whizzo high-tech Laser Rifles in the late 21st century, when they don't work nearly as well as a god-damned lever-action .357 carbine design from the 1890s.

So I just started playing this after finally getting a new graphics card. Here's how my first couple of hours went:
After tooling around in Goodhaven for a bit, struck out towards Nipon. Passed Pimm on the way, stopped off for a quick convict killing spree. in a small room in the main casino there lined up 4 shots on some dudes head in VATS, got halfway through murderizing him before I realised he was on his knees...as if he was being held hostage. So yeah, that's the end of Deputy Beagle.

Also managed to kill some dude who had an incinerator and some ammo near deputy Beagle....which came in handy when I finally got to Nipon and ran into some legion dude with a dogs head helmet. He burned nicely.

Further down the road in Novac I sold off a couple of ripper's I'd picked up and bought 'That Gun'. Levelled up a couple of times along the way, dumped most of the points in repair then went back to Pimm and repaired Ed-E.

I'm now level 4 (I think, just got my first Perk other than the starting ones) have money in the bank, a decent gun and a companion. However I'm vilified by the powder Gangers and Ceaser's Legion.

So yeah, pretty fun game so far.
