Patch probably coming out (hopefully) today for PS3, PC and Xsorry
To update, the patch/game update for PlayStation 3 could be going up as early as Midnight GMT tonight for Europe. When we have more details on North America, we'll let you know.
PC update could be up on Steam as early as tomorrow.
For players on Xbox 360, we should have more details soon. Right now, it's looking like next week. If we get updated details, we'll let you know.
What the bloody blue fuck? Apparently someone out there has a hate-on for the 360.
And when they say that the dudes in the new DLC are hard to kill, I'm hoping it's not the same BS they did with albino radscorps etc by just giving them a fucktonne of health to waste your ammo with.
I think its Microsoft thats delaying the patch because they want to greenlight all incoming patches themselves if I recall correctly.

The xbox patch has to go through the Microsoft approval process - if they aren't holding patches to push them all at the same time the xbox is almost always last to get the patch pushed to it.

It's always funny when people blame Microsoft for the screwups of another company. Yes, Microsoft does actually have quality requirements for software released on their system and wants to make sure some minor glitch doesn't cause massive hardware failure. No, it's not actually Microsoft's fault that New Vegas is just barely functional as a game and the devs have to release patch after patch after patch.
Microsoft is far from a saintly company, but they didn't build the broken game and release it that way.

Recently started playing this and it's a lot of fun, but I don't really know what's going on with the main quest. I was pretty tired when I got the info-dump from a certain robot and even now after playing for another few hours I don't really know what I'm supposed to be doing. Quests keep popping up telling me to do different things, and at one point I had three different quests with the same instruction. It's pretty confusing.
Also ED-E's started bugging out on me which is pissing me off. He was absolutely fine while I had him for about 20 hours, then I
gave him to that Follower woman as part of his quest and now I have him back he keeps getting stuck on scenery and doesn't seem to be engaging enemies any more. That scientist woman said she was going to upgrade his weapon and I wanna see what it does now but the piece of crap won't shoot anything. I think that pacifist bitch shafted me and broke my robot.
Also I reloaded a previous save from before I gave ED-E to her to test if that was what messed him up, and tried to take him to the Brotherhood instead. Got there and they totally failed to respond to ED-E, just asked me what I was doing in their camp and told me to do some mission for them, and I had no option to respond with you sent me a fucking message asking me to come here you toolbags. So yeah the game is being kind of annoying today.

I've read about that bug - it's like they upgrade ED-E's weapon, but instead of actually upgrading it, they just take it - there are console commands to fix it if you're on the pc, otherwise i think it might be time to find another robo-companion.
hush on
This is the future. This is what we built. This is what we wanted. It must have been. Because we all had the fucking choice, didn't we? It is only our money that allows commercial culture to flower. If we didn't want to live like this, we could have changed it at any time, by not fucking paying for it.
So let's celebrate by all going out and buying the same burger. -transmet

Bah. I'm on xbox That's a bummer, I quite liked ED-E even if he was shit in combat, he was kind of like a little robot puppy always following me around. They also took the bumper stickers off his back which I didn't like. Oh well guess it's time to swap him up, I've got my eye on Rex now anyway.

actually, since the original xbox started the whole console patching phenomenon, you could actually blame microsoft for it.

Oh yeah, I forgot that Microsoft is retroactively responsible for Bethesda always releasing broken games since... forever. And all other PC games which were released in broken or near-broken states over the last fifteen years.

console patching
and if you wanted to be argumentative, people before xbox knew they couldnt fix issues so did a lot of extra test work to make sure they were releasing a solid package. now its like PCs where they push the games out and fix them later.

So because Microsoft allows for games to be patched on the 360 post-release, Microsoft is also now completely responsible for the testing other companies do for their games? And all patching done on PC games, since patching games post-release was clearly never done before consoles with hard drives and internet connections?
Seriously, I know this is a facetious and silly argument, but this is Bethesda. Within the laws of the physical universe as they are currently understood, there's just no way anyone can argue that Bethesda releasing a broken game is somebody else's fault. It would almost be disappointing if Bethesda managed to release a game which wasn't horribly broken in at least a half-dozen major ways. I mean, come on.

But...don't a lot of people blame obsidian? Expecting them, with their oh so stellar QA department, to fix bugs in the engine that plagued it since forever?

Wat. Bethesda releases a buggy game and it being Bethesda's own fault is absurd? Or just the argument in general? Because I thought we were just joking. You know, ha ha, Microsoft is bad, it's obviously Bethesda's own fault for releasing a broken game but we're going to blame Microsoft anyway? That sort of thing.
I think it's perfectly okay to blame microsoft for microsoft's retardedly slow patch approval process that makes said patching take far far longer than it should.
Or maybe Obsidian should get a longer development schedule to fix their problems. I mean, I love their writing, I like their ideas, but they really need to get their shit together in product testing.

Again, I'm not exactly sure why it's obsidan's job to fix systematic errors when Bethesda had many of the same problems that were carried over from Oblivion to FO3. I'm not saying that Obsidan is bugless, because that would be silly, but that the expectation of bugs is a self fulfilling prophesy

Oh wait, I'm a total idiot. For some insane reason I thought Obsidian was a part of Bethesda. Regardless of the Microsoft angle, what I was saying was dumb because I was blaming Bethesda like they were the ones responsible for what Obsidian released. But it's okay because now I feel really dumb.

I've now read that on xbox if you talk to Ranger Andy in Novac before picking up a certain companion, that companion's quest gets broken and you can't do it at all. Guess who's already spoken to Ranger Andy? Yay. I love this game but these bugs are a bit depressing.

Doesn't matter, actually. I got him before I talked to Andy, and the conversation still didn't trigger. This has happened on two seperate character run throughs.
Do you have any idea how much of a pain those super mutties are when you're level 4? DO YOU!!??!!

Yeah, that companion is Raul. There are multiple ways to break quests. I talked to people in the wrong order and did something wrong with with my first character, thereby breaking Boone and ED-E's quests. So I started a new character, even though I should have just kept going and found other companions. New character, new broken companion quest! I talked to Ranger Andy when I got to Novac to see if he would say anything about Boone! Dammit!
I'm in sort of a temporary living arrangement, so I don't have my ps3 hooked up, and man do I miss NV, despite these awful oversights or glitches or whatever. I haven't finished the game yet.
Yup. Energy weapons continue the proud tradition of sucking ass. However there is the saving grace of flame thrower weapons that do use the energy weapon bonus and have a powerful associated perk.
There is a patch that give energy weapons a slight AP capability. Pistols have like a -1DT when you shoot a guy. Rifles are like -2 or -3. Then the plasma rifles and such are higher.
It means that energy weapons remain competitive options for the late game armored bad guys, especially when you get some nice energy perks.

As with any patch ever it works best to start a New Game. Otherwise try to load a save before the issues.
In order to more fully enjoy the new patch and New Vegas. I am making a new character. I played a nice, energy weapons using, science guy.
This time, I want to make a vile, despicable, Legion sympathsizing jerk. I am not sure about whether I should make him smart, dumb, average, or what. Any ideas? I am not sure what combat I should go for either.
Also, I am think of playing as a cannibal. Could be a bit more entertaining.
Any ideas?
I don't really want to start over, but I might re-make Lucky Gomez and do pretty much the same stuff when I get my ps3 set up again. I didn't spend my skill points very wisely and because of that it will be three or four levels until I play Cass's quest the way I want. I put all of my points into Guns, survival and and repair I think, with just enough melee to get the cowboy perk. Which means I can't pick any locks but the the <25 ones, I can't sneak, I can't hack, I can't barter, I can't do this, I can't do that...
Survival is pretty much worthless, even on hardcore mode.
