The Legion are monsters, the NCR are dicks, House is Andrew Ryan in a can, and you are probably New Vegas' only chance for a fair leader.

That game is great, but the end choice is pretty easy.

    Agreed.

Put Arcade in charge of everything.

I'm trying to roleplay, see things through my character's eyes. He doesn't trust himself with the destiny of a town, much less an entire region. Maybe things will change. If there is a way to hand off the power, say to the Followers/Arcade or something, maybe we will go that route.

if you have good strength and stamina you really don't need to put the game in to easy mode with melee weapons.

Melee is pretty damn powerful and good weapons are easy to find at the start of the game, added to that the fact that you can just sell all the ammo and weapons you find you can easily plow through most of the game.

Thats actually also fairly dickish. If not for New Vegas but it can lead easy to pretty much bigger conflicts in the long run.

I would be very surprised if that actually worked.

Also, it comes down to what you believe in which way works best. And this isn't an easy choice at all.

The Legion, through their marauding tactics, have stopped raiders nearly entirely in their territory. The traders report it is safe in their area.

The NCR has the makings of a legitimate government, and vast amounts of resources to handle crap and rebuild

Mr House is the smartest person the worlds ever known, who single handedly created a paradise in the wastes

But no, you can do this. A courier who got jumped and shot by a casino owner and 3 street gangs, who ran the errands of some portion of the 3 previous mentioned factions like a little servant boy. You can totally run the pinnacle of hope of a normal society in this post apocalyptic world.

Ending choice isnt that cut and dry.

    ?

    How?

Yes, clearly. Thats why he gives hindsight for his design choices regarding the legion and takes the time to explain it this throughly giving accurate hystorical examples on why he designed certain parts of the legion. Of course that equates to "Wähh, I don't suck."

Perhaps you'll disagree and that's fine, but in practice they struck me as generic moustache twirling psychopaths.

I'd appreciate some elaboration on "positive backlash", on account of this thread contains plenty of people agreeing that the Legion was unlikable and poorly fleshed out.

Fleshed out it is. Seriously there has went so much thought into the legion, cesars motives and ideals that I'm astounded as why people still say that. The presentation in the game may not be the best but that is only one part. Furthermore I said it a hundred times I say it again they are the invading faction. Ask the Arfghani and irani what they think/thought about the USA. Cesars Legion is a faction where you have to think about long term effects rather than short term.

Also its mostly forum posts VD's New Vegas review and foreign reviews. French media seemed to have them taken in very well though I've read only around 4 reviews there so that may just be my impression.

First impressions on the legion are more negative but thats to be excpected.

On my own I saw Nipton, that from a certain viewpoint deserved it and the rest that was mostly more brutal war tactics, but war tactics. I excpected Slavery and the whole women thing (as backwards as it is It's not really THAT long since that was basically the standard in the world.) and the cross thing. Whats bad about the legion (but not in writing) is that most of their military personal is consisting of former savage tribals and it gets really obvious with guys when you interact with them apart from cesar. Another charachter would have certainly helped.

So, yeah. I saw them as pretty fleshed out and compelling. Short term they ARE certainly the worst faction. Long term too if their military would plan a coup. So its just as unstable as the NCR too (Which has the potential to either be overolled from another unknown faction which are closer to the fiends or just get corrupt as shit). Decisions, Decisions.

I had someone describe me the Legion as post-apocalyptic Nazis the other day, but I'd say they are closer to post-apocalyptic Hordes of Chaos ala Warhammer (add Ancient Roman cult and remove demons), although not as cool as that'd be. But their presentation in-game is seriously lacking imo.

I'm sorry, I laughed. This is the source of the confusion.

Executing your ideas in such a way that it resonates with the audience is kind of the whole point of this medium.

I liked Caesars legion, well, didn't LIKE them, but liked the fact that a follower of the apocalypse(with an obvious 8-10 INT), who sounds like he's from the bronx, got captured by a bunch of tribals, taught them to decimate their enemies, and went scourging across the country in a tornado of pre-war knowledge and post-war tribal savagery.

Stuff like this is what post apocalyptic fiction is all about. Mad max? Rampaging dudes in V8s wearing buttchaps and hockey masks. The postman? Both the David Bryn novel and the Movie feature an opposing faction very similar to Caesar's legion, though the book and movie differ greatly.

I haven't actually encountered the Legion much yet. I quite like Caeser, as a character, he's got a cool story and was fun to talk to. But I will agree the rest of them seem pretty generic. But like I said I haven't seen much of them yet, I'm sure they will get more involved as I go through the game.

It doesn't get that much better if you are looking for Charachter Interaction. While I fully support the Legion as a faction (In fact it is my favourite one) its members apart from the Legate and Cesar (which are awesome. Though the legate represents all the bad things about the legion) and somewhat Aurelius belong to the games most bland written ones. Which doesn't mean they are badly written IMO.

My first character was a gunslinger. Got everything that makes you more like a revolver-toting cowboy. Indeed, even the cowboy perk!

They're kind of weak guns in general by the end, but you can kite almost anyone fairly well.

I also liked grabbing every crit perk and using the 6-shooter that crits, like, 1/3rd of the time to begin with.
