Oh god no.. Blood in DW during gameplay would be just wrong... I'm glad the franchise has made it through the years without that.
DW 7 is very sexy. Morale still exists, they just don't have the bar afaik. (they'll say stuff like so-and-so's spirits have been raised, etC). It feels clean. DW 6 was ok. I dunno, felt too not DW or something, who knows. I didn't complete it though. There's a bit of DLC support coming down the pipeline too (for 7), some of it free. I've been doing Story mode, but I guess Conquest mode is kind of like Mission mode from GW 2?
Orochi 2 was fun too. I 1000/1000'd that thing. Shame Orochi Z isn't coming to the states (though it probably wouldn't be on the 360 anyhow). SW 3 being on the wii makes me sad too. but eh.

Blood would be wrong... in a game where you cut down 1,000's of dudes? Non-traditional, maybe, which a toggle might satisfy. I suspect it was never introduced due to performance or rating.
What we need is an Americanized version where you run around as George Washington or Thomas Jefferson and pistol whip the living fuck out of wave after wave of redcoats.

Yea, it's not there for rating purposes. But the lack of blood despite the scale of carnage is one of the hallmarks of the franchise now, or really the genre..
And you don't really have to have blood in a game where you kill people... but that's a different thread, and preference, I suppose.

Adding blood effects would likely shave a large percentage of the enemies visible on screen off, as well. Since, I mean, that games still slow-down just with officers/troops.
Adding blood to Dynasty Warriors would be almost like adding blood to Smash Bros. Plus, it's a "KO" count, not a "kill" count. It's impossible to tell if any of those mooks are dead! Many could simply be horribly maimed!
In other news, Meng Huo is totally awesome now. He runs fast and he grabs people and hurts them, and he has a musou attack where he yells people to death.
This person has also posted some nice Sengoku Basara 3 videos. I thought I had Keiji figured out but now I know I was doing it wrong.

So, got a question for anyone who's played Conquest mode a bunch. Anyone know what the red exclamation mark that appears over someone's legendary battle when you're playing as that character means? It's not listed in the manual and I've already cleared that battle so I can play as them.

I think it just means that it's their location for their legendary battles, and isn't really anything special. I think.

Huh. Okay, that makes sense.
We should play sometime! I've mostly been playing with Delph.
DW7 is refreshing after the lameness that was DW6. Though Jin seems a bit rushed (not all of their characters even fit well, like Xiahou Ba who defects to Shu pretty much immediately), I guess that's going to be a natural thing when first making a faction though.
Best character I've played so far is Sima Shi, hands down. Rapier moveset destroys officers 1v1 since you can SST (let it autoaim so last hit connects), then reset with T and repeat until death. It combos the whole time too, and Sima Shi can start it off his 2nd musou if need be (since it's unblockable and he can combo from it once it connects). Plus his EX makes the Rapier so much better against crowds as well.
I picked up DW 7 and I love the little touches, like the way the game smoothly transitions between cutscenes and gameplay. This is probably my favorite of all the Warriors games I've played, even though it still has a thick layer of janky on it.

I honestly only have minor complaints. There's the issue the reviews mentioned, that it recycles maps from DW 6. Some are well disguised, but one in particular is literally the same thing. :x
I also don't like Sima Yi's outfit. But his mosou attack? Amazing. Possibly my favorite character to play as.

Zhuge Liang is so much better in this game compared to previous ones, which I guess offsets the fact that you have to play as him.
This is alot of fun, it might become my favorite. Orochi Warriors 2 is still my favorite for now, but that's mainly because Inahime (also Da Ji was complete rape once you got a good weapon)
Honestly, I don't mind taking some maps from DW6, since I really enjoyed some of the map design from the game. And I really haven't noticed it outside of Xia Pi. But, then again, I liked DW6, so.. (Obviously not my favorite or even close, but I enjoyed it a lot despite its flaws.)
Having a goddamned blast with it, though. I'm blown away by how good story mode is this time around. Not just the presentation tweeks, but just how each one so far (Beat Wu, am most of the way through Shu) lasts so long. That was one of the bigger concerns I had going into the game, since I knew there'd only be four of them.
Just about to the end of Jin and then it's on to Conquest mode.
I think the rapier moveset is kind of bad. It's a little too quick and makes it hard to track enemies and get the right charge attacks you want. Still, Shi's musou attacks are awesome, so that makes up for it.

The issue with Rapier has always been that it has a min range of effectiveness. If you're point blank, your attacks go around the guy you're targeting and you get messed up in the face. That's kind of an issue when you already have a weakness against crowds.

Da Ji is the only reason I survived Orochi mission 7 the first time when I managed to get half a dozen officers ganging up on me. Specifically her C4, the one where she skates around and totally wrecks everyone. Course, most of the characters could effortlessly destroy just about everything once they got a weapon with high levels of bolt, flash and slay. Took a bit of the fun out of the combat.
How is Zhuge Liang now? I never liked him much in 5, especially for his C6. It just seemed the most pointless and self harmful move.

Use his EX attack (XX YY I think) over and over again, weaving his mosou into it, and enemy infantry basically collapses around you, along with all the heroes in the middle.
He's actually better than Sima Yi for just destroying enemy numbers, as his mosou is also an AoE. But he doesn't have that maniacal laugh, as mentioned earlier.

Also, Nunchuks are actually way too quick IME.
I tried using the Rapier, and I found it rather unwieldy to use, between the awkward movement while attacking, the fast speed and sometimes understated attacks making it difficult to pick out a specific power attack, and the general ineffectiveness against crowds.
I simply resorted to using the Switch Attack.
Then jumping out before it finishes.
Then repeating this. Forever. For every single situation ever.
ESPECIALLY for thoroughly preventing the second player from attacking an officer.
Just to clarify: You'll want a +range skill / seal or two, but as mentioned before make sure you all are letting the Rapier autoaim once it initially connects against an officer (ie, don't move the stick manually).
SST -> T -> SST -> T -> etc can be repeated forever unless something else intervenes, so it's an absurdly easy and safe way to kill an officer. Can also be started from T of course, or in Sima Shi's case his 2nd musou.
SSST is the quickest way to kill and scatter crowds, though from what I remember all the later charges can do decently enough for crowd control. And in Sima Shi's case specifically his EX attack of STT, which is also very useful for fighting multiple officers.
That said I use Sima Shi with Rapier / Claws, so for particular large crowds or 4+ officers I'll usually switch to the Claws instead.

Yep, Da Ji's C4 kills everything. Multi+Slay+whatever else you want and she destroys everything in a wide range.
Inahime and the other archers also have effortless killing power with R1, since their arrow spam gains the effects of their weapon attributes. R1 kills an entire crowd, damages an officer by 20%+, then double jump away and keep shooting.
For Zhuge Liang in DW7, Disruptor has it. Just spam SSTT->Musou over and over until everything is dead. Works on Zhuge Dan and Sima Zhao as well. (Fan in general is alot better than it used to be.)

The main issue for me with SST Rapier comboing is eventually you hit a wall, which screws up the distance and breaks the combo. Other than that, it works just as described.
I really wish Throwing Knives had a little bit of stagger chance like Bow does, because with the shorter range of double jump, it's harder to kite with them.
I think throwing knives are basically a utility weapon. They build meter super fast. I basically use them as an alternative weapon on my female characters who get auto 3 stars on them.
They're fast, but yea, no stagger means that things past the 3rd strong attack are risky.
Usually I spam SST. Jump cancel if in trouble) (the T staggers at least) until I max my musou, then switch back out.
Most useful on Lian Shi with her healing super and Cai Wen Ji /Zhu Rong since their Ex-Moves give them more options.

Cai Wenji is Harp, isn't she? You might mean Wang Yuanji, who I love, but her EX attack really is so-so for officer killing. I just switched her to Bow and never looked back.

Seems pretty cool, guy says its a solid title, lots of fun and a decent story

PS3 only, though? Why? I'd have gotten it even if it is mediocre.

The story telling is much better, though still ridiculously cheesy (it wouldn't be the same if it weren't).
Graphics are better, yet there's less slowdown than before.
Character design is much better, too. Xiahou Dun is one bad motherfucker this time around.
And you can do combo-juggling again.
Did they get rid of morale for DW7 though? Felt kinda odd. (I went straight for Conquest mode)

1) Ranged weapon with shitty guard break options
