Everyone hit the PS3 ones, but if you want to go back as far as the PS2, Warriors Orochi 2 is a good choice since WOZ didn't get released in the US.

Don't gloss over DW Gundam 1 too fast, though. If you can find it for a good price, I'd still recommend it for the story mode alone. Well, Domon's and Puru's stories, at least.

Watching standard Gundam characters freak out as Domon starts quoting the Gundam Fight International Treaty or shooting fireballs everywhere is amazing. Seeing Puru make Domon let her and the bad guy from Wing do the motto of the Undefeated of the East together is priceless. Basically any cinema dealing with those two is hilarious.

Sengoku Basara is amazing in every ridiculous way. I love the speed and rush of just tearing through the battlefield.

DW is awesome too, but it's just a different beast altogether.

There is nothing quite like murdering thousands of men with a shotgun in ye olden times Japan.

Except perhaps punching them with fists full of PEACE and BONDAGE I MEAN BONDING.

Yeah, now that you reminded me, Puru and Domon are almost completely worth the price of DW: G alone.

    Adorable.

Sengoku Basara is absolutely awesome. Gothy MCGotherson (whatever her name is) is just a so over the top fun, like most of the characters. Plus, it's REALLY easy to figure out combos in that game if you're fighting game retarded which I'm. I have an endless juggle for her and I've never figured out an endless juggle in any game, ever.

@Darth Mogs: I only say skip 6 because 7 is out. If you wanted 6, I would caution to only get it on the PS3 as the 100 soldier pop in seemed less on that platform then the 360.

Found GW1 on Amazon for cheap last night too so that's on the way as well. I think between that, Sengoku Basara and DW7 I'll probably be set until GW3 comes out. Hate to skip GW2 but realisitcally between my PC backlog and Rock Band Expert guitar/bass drums/Pro guitar my free time is pretty used up.

In fact in retrospect I may have just purchased games I won't actually have time to play...

    Curse you, thread!

DW7's Wu Story is goddamn long

Are the rest of the story modes this long? I mean, it's definitely good for being long, I just didn't expect it to keep going

    Yes.

Don't play them in one sitting or you'll be longing for them to just end already.

I'm actually glad to hear that the story modes are long. How long are we talking exactly? The conquest mode is cool and all, but so far this is the first time where I've felt like the story mode is adequately telling the story.

Too much content is a great problem to have.

The list for Shu (the only one I finished so far) lists 22 Chapters. Though it does count, say, the Battle of Changban Part 1 and the Battle of Changban Part 2 as two seperate chapters.

I'm assuming Wu and Wei have similar numbers, with Jing having less.

So it would take a while to battle your way through them all.

Well, so far I'm on Volume 3 of Wu. V1 has 7 stages, V2 has 8 stages, and I'm on the 5th stage of V3. Now, half of those stages are actually part 1 or part 2 of the same battle, but each part is still pretty standard length.

Oh man, finally beat Wu. 24 total stages.

So I guess you gotta do Conquest mode to unlock some characters.

Anyone got a list of who all you get from the Story and from Conquest?

It's a messy map but then, well, that's Conquest for you. It has a lot of things noted that don't really need to be, but for just starting it makes it really easy to tell what nodes unlock cities, characters, and decent weapons without scrolling through a bunch of blacked-out boxes.

Some of the Conquest mode conversations are pretty funny. The unlock conditions are a little sketchy, but generally once you have a bond past a couple bars and play as a certain character, you get a special conversation in a city.

One of the funnier ones I've seen so far is playing as Sima Yi and talking with Zhong Hui.

Red Hare isn't even all that good, though, unfortunately. Throwing Walking Speed Up on both your weapons makes you faster.

I finished all the stories today. Jin's a fucking downer, man. And I began to learn to hate Shou Chun because of it.

Yes, most seals in DW7 stack. An attack+++ on one weapon simply boosts your attack stat, so in the end that affects your damage with both weapons (and you can throw one on each). You can visually see the effect on your stats if you look before and after equipping one, as they are plainly listed in the pause menu.

Note by the time you max a character out, you may not need to double on stat giving seals as the cap is 1000. At this point you'd be better off packing Double Element (death + lightning or ice tends to be best) and some Elemental Attack Up seals if you're looking for more damage. Also keep in mind the Health and Musou Regen seals lower your Defense stat by a set percentage, so if you use those you could need some Defense seals to offset the loss.

I took "similar skills and seals" to mean "Attack Up +++ on a weapon stacks with Attack Up ++ on the same weapon" I didn't realize you got the effects of seals on your non-active weapon as well.

Well, no Shu's a downer. Wu's is like "yay maybe we did something". Wei's is pretty cut and dry but also kind of depressing. Jin isn't too bad if you don't know what happens to Deng Ai.

As for Red Hare vs Walking Speed Up, using WS Up is two Seal slots you could be using on stats or something like Combat Resistance. What else are you really going to take in your animal slot that's going to matter?

I double Seal Master and Skill Points, trying to fit Congeniality in there if I can and it's the right mission type for it.

Well yeah it's the easiest way to add some sort of grind to the game. They're only really important if you want to use that weapon at max proficiency with a character who doesn't already have it naturally, though. That said throwing on double seals for extra skill gain will still unlock them pretty quick.

DWG1 came in the mail today. Played through some of Kamille's missions.

So the mission where you have to fire the colony laser? Quattro can't keep himself alive worth a damn. The fact that Scirocco and Haman can both put a severe beating on me if I miss a single block doesn't really help matters either :P

Kamille was the only person I didn't beat the game with on that one, because of that mission. I think it's only the first or second where you're in his new Gundam, so you don't even have a chance to level it up.

Yeah, same mission I got stuck on at my friends house when we were playing it on his 360 but my friend is, well, atrocious at killing anything that can actually fight back. I'm going to need to co-op it with someone who knows how to trade off juggling I think. Luckily my brother and I perfected that long ago with these games, just need to find the time to have him over.

Well, either that or just stick to Quattro the whole mission like glue, hope I can keep his dumbass alive and cross my fingers that the ship survives.

I did all of the story in DWG1 the first run through. Maybe I just got lucky with that mission, but Haman was the only one that appeared near Quattro and she was easy to kill. Scricco just wandered around like an idiot.

picked up dw7 yesterday and man these games are fucking fun. i had to take a break after nearly maxing out 4 (or was it 5?) but getting back into them is so great.

weird thing: im actually experiencing a little bit of motion sickness when playing this, though ive never felt that in any of the other games. anyone have the same experience? wonder why that is.

also, why does that map have marks for "pretty boy" "girls" and "strong and old" but never actually use those marks?

I think I might have just got unlucky but when Scirocco was supposed to be attacking the colony laser Haman wandered down as well and Quattro got caught in the middle.

I think I'm gonna try it again after work babysitting Quattro and abusing the shit out of firing off dual SP attacks.

As I reacall, in DW6 the camera was really jerky and they used blur effects. If DW7 is the same that may be the reason.
