So there's a TOS pack coming out at some point and a dev just posted this WIP
Of note is that the Dev said this is a test to see how in scale they can make an interior without it causing camera problems, so that hallway is pretty damn close to being in scale.
If it works they might rescale the rest of the interiors.
Federation bank as been improved. It's now the same as on the Klingon side.
The Lieutenant tab has been removed in favor of more room for crafting supplies. Schematics have earned their own tab, while data samples get more room to be stored in, with overflow into the Schematics tab.
If you are level 1-10 and want gear, please withdraw EC and buy it, or craft it, or request someone to craft it for you.
ALL bank tabs are restricted to LtCmdr and above for security reasons. Only EC can be withdrawn as Lt, and that's a minor loss if it occurs.
Well, I got my Scientist up to Lt. Cmd. I'm going to sleep on it but I think I'll have him go Sci/Sci based on the fact that I don't really want cannons and I don't really want ships that are harder to turn than the starter ship.
Seem like valid reasoning?

Get two ranks of fire at will and rotate them, you can actually manage pretty high damage output. Not quite as high as full cannons with rapid fire, or as spiky as cannons and one DBB with beam overload, but as a science officer in an escort, you've got better tools to stay in combat longer, and you're not built for huge damage spikes like a tac/escort is anyway.
This bit from the patch notes makes me happy:
Prometheus style escort ships will see some slight art changes around key junction points. These model changes were made to compensate for upcoming Multi-Vector Assault Mode so all customized variants will integrate properly with the IP version of the Prometheus.
I was happy about the MVAM prometheus to begin with, but I'm glad it isn't limited to fewer styles like the Galaxy-R is. I'd be kind of bummed if my C-store parts didn't work anymore.
I have to say that, as much as I enjoy the game, the inconsistency of the quest tracker is really killing it. Sometimes the next quest objective updates, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes you need to go read the quest text, sometimes you need to ignore the quest text, sometimes your target will be marked on the map and often times it won't (and would it kill them to make the maker a bit more obvious than pale gray?).
Just yesterday I noticed a shared group quest had the little 'not eligible, rewards reduced' thing on it. So I dropped it, did the prereqs, took the quest, did it and... it counted as me having finished the Not Eligible version, while my proper quest sat there unfinished. Ffffffffffffffffffff.
I don't remember CO having these problems and that game gets like 10% of the effort STO seems to. :?

It seems that as a LtCmdr I can't access the Lt Cmdr items. Or is that because I'm too new to the fleet?

I'll double check the permissions, maybe something got messed up. We changed a LOT in the fleet bank last night.
Also, is your fleet rank LTC or just your captain's rank? Bank permissions are based on fleet rank, so if nobody promotes you you'll miss out. I think every rank has the ability to promote to a lower rank, so any commander and up should be able to help. I'll do it myself if I see you online.

"At least" 5 feature series planned for 2011. For some reference, there were three planned for 2010, but I'll see how long the gap between 3 and 4 is before I comment.
Enterprise-C related series connecting to the Ambassador-class release, Tholians in series 5 or 6, Children of Khan in a "near future" feature series.
STF difficulty slider (current=elite) is in development

Enterprise-C series cannot get here fast enough.
I wonder if that means they'll have the variant uniforms the C crew wore. It was basically just a reuse of the Kahn uniforms without belts (which we can do) and no turtleneck undershirt.
Really looking forward to MVAM. I know 99% of players who are looking forward to it will be disappointed, though. The Prometheus is up there with the Galaxy-X for ships that fans vastly overestimate - that Warbird it blasted to hell had been fighting three other Starships and had its shields down for transport when it got hit.
Our current plan for the prometheus is to make it a console. You take your prometheus, equip the console in a tactical slot and boom, you have access to MVAM.
Typically a ship loses a console slot for getting a special power, and this basically does the same thing.
Not entirely thrilled that it's a tactical console, though - retrofits usually give up an off-class console, I'd prefer a 4/2/2 layout like the Defiant's to a 3/3/2. WTF can an advanced escort really do with a science console anyway?
On the other hand, if it's nice, I wouldn't mind trading a torpedo console for it, and if it works out they'll hopefully do more console upgrades like this.

The science console is where the Borg Console goes on an escort.
That still leaves two slots for... What, Halon systems?
On the same note, I suppose if it's substantially more powerful than, say, saucer separation I can see the argument that a science slot just isn't enough trade off for it.

Too true. That galaxy saucer sep at full impulse is pretty nice. I'm actually using it now.

It depends on how they implement it. The saucer stays fighting until you recall it and can also heal & buff itself. The prommie could well be a thing where you separate for one target at a time, or just until the current combat ends, and it has little reason to have heals.

Actually, the Galaxy X is the Federation answer to the Klingon Siege vessel. Only with alot more awesome crap attached to it.
It seems that alot of people don't realize that it has a built in innate special ability, that can be fired once every few minutes, that can completely knock the shields off of pretty much any mob, and is essentially a mobile version of the Klingon death star laser.
Oh, and it can cloak, too. And the cloak gives a fairly decent damage boost buff coming out of it. Meaning that you have a stealth capable ship that can fire a gigantic wave motion gun that can one-shot some ships. Or multiple ships if you're really lucky, since the laser is manually aimed and can hit multiple targets, and fires multiple times.
Also, it's currently the fastest ship in the game on the sector map, without any upgrades to engine speed. It has a slightly higher warp capability at the last two tiers, apparently.
On top of that, class-wise, it's listed as a "Dreadnaught Cruiser" (Essentially one or two tiers below the giant Federation ship that shows up in a few missions. They had to code the skill bonus for commanding it in as assault cruiser, as that tier of ship doesn't even exist yet.). And it has the armor of an assault cruiser. Which means it's a royal bitch to take down with the right setup. Also, it can mount cannons, and with some of the new gear, can actually use them effectively too.
There's a reason why the ship costs almost twenty bucks at the best of times.
It was originally designed as a reward to incredibly fanatical players who managed to get a decent number of people to sign up for a subscription to the game using the trial invite system. Not a C-Store offering like the rest of the ships are. That was much later, after a good deal of bitching about it being an invite exclusive reward occurred.
Edit: Here's a video of the wave motion gun the Gal X has, just for the hell of it.

Which would be great except that the Lance misses better than 50% of the time and does less damage than B02 on 2x DBB, and has 6x the CD when it does hit.
Also, I experienced a bug when dropping cloak and immediately firing the Lance. The Lance went on CD but didn't actually fire, so that's a big problem.
So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.
Yeah... a "mobile" version of the Gumby javelin sounds nice except with the ridiculous CD it has and the comparatively low damage, the Gumby remains a lot more versatile. You can fire the Gumby at worst every other battle and it's up near the 20k damage range each shot.

I have never had the lance miss before. It's not an automatically targeted thing. You have to position your ship right, so the mount is facing toward's a target. If you have good hand-eye coordination it's honestly not that hard to do.
Also, with damage buffs, the lance will easily strip the shields off of most targets and do some hull damage. It essentially is a way to open a fight by taking down one shield section of an enemy ship, which is a huge advantage, as it forces the enemy to compensate by using up a shield restoration skill early on, or keep you off of that facing (Using a maneuvering skill most likely.).

I was referring to the constant canon arguments about it's power, not in-game. Lot of fans (not just STO players, but they are pretty big offenders since it's the main crux of the arguments that the ship is underpowered) have vastly overstated the ship's power ever since it was seen in All Good Things. It was only shown in combat once, but to be honest, it didn't do anything particularly special - three direct hits to destroy an unprepared ship of an inferior class from an ambush position.

I need to outfit my Gal-X for times that I want to look awesome.
Not optimized, but it would look freaking scary decloaking and opening up with all of that.
Whenever they bump up the ranks in the game, the Gal-X needs to be a full Admiral ship with bumps to power and weapons accordingly.
@Hevach: Consider though that is only needs to fire that one weapon. I'd imagine thatt he rest of it's weapons would be also better than a normal galaxy.

While true, three hits, two of which were on an unshielded hull... Remember, the stock Galaxy was already powerful enough that at close range it risked destroying itself in the blast if it fired with its own shields down. Nothing special compared to what the Sovereign was capable of, and the Sovvy is an older class.
Though if they'd left the initial script alone for the Sovereign class, I don't think anyone would ever talk about the Galaxy-X or Prometheus. The original plan was for the Enterprise-E to drop out of warp, open a line of broadside pulse phasers, and destroy the Borg cube on its own faster than its shields could adapt. And people talk about how weak the Borg were in Voyager.
woo managed to get 1st place on the Gorn Fleet Action. It was on my sci officer who is only a LT commander so it took a while as there werent many people and no-one does alot of damage but fun. blew up over a 100 ships (had the accolades for killing both 100 and 200 gorn ships. my prize was a rare holoemitter console which gives +7.5 photonic theory, Now if only I knew what skills get boosted by that. I think photonic shock wave and photonic bridge officer?
Hmmmmm, at first this game seemed to work fine but over the last few days, I've had more trouble playing STO over my new wireless connection than I did playing LOTRO and Eve over satellite. I get a ton of Disconnected from Server and some pretty bad rubberbanding at other times. Of course when it's working right it isn't nearly so lagging as satellite.

New episode looks to be a big buggy, there's a part where you have to defeat several hostile Romulans but there won't always be enough spawned to finish the objective. Looks to be going on for me right now and the forums have a few threads about it happening for others.

Well it's more a prejudice that in Star Trek weapons should have wide arcs of fire than an actual dislike for cannons.
