Just played against a Toss who put on a little early pressure, and fast expanded behind it. I retaliated with a little poke at his expo and expanded myself. Moved my troops out and ran into...a void ray? Seriously? I have 10 marines.
I chase him off, finish my expand. The next thing to wander up is some zealots, a void ray, and one colossi. Seriously?
Drive that off. The next push in has chargelots and two colossi. When I started hurting his base, he had HT tech up, and actually got Storm researched.
I mean, he was only DTs off having every single tech structure.
Needless to say, Mass two base upgraded MMM wins the day. Again. What else am I supposed to make?
I just lost to Void Rays... Which to me is the worst thing to lose to considering how easily they are countered. Thats what I get for not scouting properly. Bahhhhhh, time to go to bed and not dwell on my sorrow.
Apparently the break even point between OC and no OC with 4 rax pumping out marines is, never? Which is to say that getting the OC I had the same number of marines out at the 4 minute mark and got my 4 rax out faster and began swimming in minerals faster so its just better, I think. I might run it again to make sure I didn't muck something up.
OCs be crazy.

The 7rr does has some pretty big clues letting you know it's coming, like the 11 pool, and the roach warren before queen. You should have a pretty hefty wall if you spot the 5rr.

Oh, to be clear, in this scenario he is my ally (we are doing a 2v2) and he is 7rr-ing. I like playing terran but my contribution to the early rush feels somewhat lackluster compared to his.

Rush for Marauders? They'll handle the units that stop Roaches (namely Stalkers).
I haven't got a chance to play with him yet, actually. I've been following the tournament scene (matches are so fun to watch) but I've been pretty broke lately so am just recently actually picking up the game. My gut told me that marines would be the best thing to push for to get an early army fast but this game is full of surprises. I haven't tried rushing for marauders or reapers yet.

Here's a really intense P(simon)vT(me). 34 minutes(in game). It is pretty crazy. Voidrays, HT's and MMM. Oh and a tank. Simon does a really good job of keeping me on my toes through the whole match and I go standard lol-MMM.
Oh and simon, you were wondering where I got all the money. At the time you took out my third for the second time, I was sitting on over 5000 minerals. So I had plenty banked to keep producing with. I really need to work on my late game terran macro. Especially in a very active game such as this one.
Late game resource management is my biggest flaw too.
His income was so far below mine but it felt like a really close game because
A. I wasn't spending my money,
B. Mutalisks scare the pants off of me. :P
Anybody have suggestions on what I should have been making at the end there to use up my surplus of minerals? I was aware of all my extra money the entire time but I just didn't know what to do with it.
EDIT: I have a subconscious aversion to making "too many Gateways" because I feel like I should branch out my tech. So I don't make Gateways and I also don't branch out my tech. Even if Gateway units are all I need, once I get up to like 6 Gateways I don't want to make any more unless I stop and say "MAKE MORE GATEWAYS YOU IDIOT" But I also find myself forgetting (A LOT) to actually use the ones I have.
But once you have 24 workers mining minerals additional workers give you literally 0 benefit.
Is that really right?
3 workers per patch is the point where you stop increasing income, 2 is most bang for the buck. 24 is two per patch + 6 on gas right? There is a theoretical optimum at 2.6 something drones per patch, I think, which would be 24 as well. But that's pretty moot as you can't have 2.6 drones mining per patch.
I haven't looked at the numbers since the beta but this interests me.

I'm 90% certain that 3 workers/patch is complete saturation because the 3rd on each patch spends some time waiting.
Huh... I just got my zerg face absolutely smashed in by psi storm. I can understand countering colossi. You grab some mutas or some corruptors and you're set. What exactly do you do against HTs? You move in. You get 8 psi storms on you. You're instantly at half hp. You can either retreat and take your losses. Or sit there and take it (I believe psi storm 1 shots hydras, doesn't it?). HTs are hard to pick out. Warp in for instant psi storm anywhere on the map basically. Tips?

I like stutter stepping my roaches into the heart of their army when they throw down lots of storms.

Unless it has changed since beta this is correct, also you have to note that mules don't count towards this saturation limit, they mine at 100% efficiency no matter what. It's just one reason they are so amazing.

From listening to SotG and Day9 and silly stuff like that, Terran and Protoss typically want to saturate their bases (3/patch) because the probes/scvs cost less than drones (larvae). Zerg on the other hand, has an easy enough time expanding that they want to stay at ~2 drones per patch with 3 on far ones.
I'm curious, is Starcraft 2 basically at the point where most players are diamond?
I remember at the start, it was supposed to be top 5-10%, but looking at the spreadsheet it seems like there are more diamonds than all the other leagues combined. Which makes since, because people get better over time and players ranked higher are more likely to still be interested in the game.
Is this unique to PA, or is the vast majority of the Starcraft playerbase like this? Cuz it seems really wierd to have different league names if more than half your players are all in the same league.
I didn't add myself to the speadsheet because I'm not very good and don't want to get laughed at, I'm sure a lot of people are the same.

My last Starcraft dream was losing to inControl's much higher food protoss army, endlessly.
More enjoyable than you might expect, if you had to get stomped by a pro at least he's a funny guy.

have you tried doing a reaper rush with him?
I was thinking maybe jump up and snipe sentries and harass workers if he's piling up his front.
