[recommend on!] non-shooting games for xbox 360

So last night I while some friends and I were sitting on the couch trying to decide what to do for the night, someone asked if I had any videogames that weren't hardcore shooting games. Long story short, I took inventory of my games and realized that like, 99% of my xbox 360 games are either fighting games or first person shooters that generally require years of practice to play.

I need ideas of games to buy that anyone can play and do decently alright in. So I guess things like party games, kart racers, or co-op action/adventure games would be the kind of thing I'm looking for.

Speaking purely for myself, the awesomest games like that on XB360 are either rhythm games (which has a bit of a cost barrier to entry, if you're not already a big fan of the genre) and stuff on XBLA.

I'd recommend pulling down some demos to try some things out. I'd recommend checking out Pac-Man C.E. and NHL 3v3 Hockey (it's super arcadey, very fun for some casual competition) to start with.

Castle Crashers is a must in this scenario. It's easy to pick up, and you can get it without leaving your living room.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance could also be pretty entertaining if you're into that sorta thing.

And if you're in the mood for a co-op RPG that takes awhile to finish, Tales of Vesperia. That game is gold in video game form.

If we are talking strictly multiplayer games:

The Rock Band/ Guitar Hero Games
    Catan (online only though) (XBLA)
    Pac-Man CE (XBLA)
    Burnout Series
    Need For Speed Series
    Fable II and III (kinda)
    Hydro Thunder Hurricane (XBLA)

That's about all I can come up with off the top of my head. I'm sure there are others, though, if you looked on like Wikipedia for a list of Xbox 360 games, just go to certain genres and see what they got.

EDIT: How could I forget the glory that is Beautiful Katamari? Great game for parties, it's got fun co-op as well as great take-turns single player, and anyone can play Katamari.

Gamers of all skill level can enjoy this game.

Other XBLA games for cheap multiplayer fun include: Bomberman Live and TMNT: Turtles in Time.

Actually, if you browsed through the XBLA library and downloaded some demos I'm sure you could find a bunch of games for cheap that would interest you.

Worms Armageddon. I've played it with people of varying skillsets and experience, and they've all loved it. Plus it's a free demo.

Both of the Deathspank games are decent. Fun little hack and slashers. Oh and the Scott Pilgrim game is a good little co-op game too.

This game looks and feels much better on a PC, just so you know.

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts n Bolts is a lot of fun. You basically build vehicles out of parts you unlock to complete challenges, though you can just explore as well. It has a Super Mario 64 feel where you unlock later areas by completing challenges in earlier ones. It also has that Rare sense of humor.
