Haha, I know what you mean.

Gold is the last visor you unlock though, but you have some cool stuff waiting for you higher up in the ranks.

I can tell you right now if you're a fan of the Mark V/Mark VI (H1/2 and 3) helmets you should start saving.

Fun times last night, guys - those Invasion matches were a lot of fun. I got slapped silly in our PA Rumble Pit games, but I don't even mind because I always feel like I'm learning something. I fired off Friend Requests to a few of you.

Also, while I am currently wearing number 6, anyone else is free to do the same Or maybe we could all wear the Bee emblem in PA colours? Would that even look good?

Oh, and I finally hit Lt. Colonel - JFO helmet, CQC Shoulders and Breacher chest get!

well the sheer number of cR and commendation earned from playing that many games of grunt or just ff in general would kind of compensate. if you really, REALLY, like firefight.

literally everybody on my PA friends lists is playing Black Ops, I'm beginning to feel like I might crack, I only have to hold out till the Halo map pack drops right? Also, I'm online now if anybody is interested.


edit: does anybody know if visor colour makes any difference to the Gungnir helmet?

I just got to commander and wanted the commando helmet, with its 2nd attachment. 85k base, 40k for each add-on

Luckily, I've barely bought anything so i was sitting on 460k in credits. The only thing I want really bad is the security helmet, but that doesnt unlock till general so I know i'll have the 250k I'll need by then

I suggest jumping into the CoD thread and taking what they say with a pinch of salt. I think everyone's just jonesing for a new CoD with the familiarity of MW2 - while everyone says that they love it, 90% of the time I'm in a party with these guys they're yelling about how the game is bullshit. Give it a week for the exploits to become apparent and people to settle into a rhythm before judging a purchase. At this point I regret buying it, but maybe I haven't found my niche yet.

I will say that the matchmaking is horrendous. In the time it took us to get into a game last night - in a six-man playlist, when we had six people in the party - I could have had two full games of Reach.

Again, not the CoD thread, but...

I played this last night, a friend brought it over the for the 360. Not impressed. I loved the original Modern Warfare, and I tepidly enjoyed Modern Warfare 2, but from my short experience with BLOPS it's more of the same, in a bad way. They changed some superficial stuff (like the way you unlock guns and perks), but at it's core it's still very much Modern Warfare 2, with all the same wrinkles and warts (like shitty netcode and matchmaking).

My advice is, if you enjoy Reach, just stick to Reach. You aren't going to find a "better" (this is entirely subjective, so I am air quoting it) FPS experience in BLOPS.

Looking at my first games played, it took me forever to find a PA game. The first time I played with anyone from PA was with Veevee and Ann, but I didn't play with anyone who's still a regular in the thread until six months later when I played with Local H Jay, with Dixonater joining a few games later.

Honestly though I think bnet is missing some of my games, because I swear I was playing with you guys before late 08.

Well, to be fair, Microsoft has not exactly made congregating as a group easy. I've got some of you on my friends list, but if those two or three people aren't playing, or no one on the second meta tag is playing in a PA group, I have no idea how to find anyone.

Honestly, it blows my mind that Live doesn't have groups yet. They keep piling on non-game features like Netflix and ESPN (mind you, I like the ESPN3 thing)...yet haven't added a feature core gamers have been screaming for since Live released.

Not that much earlier I'd think. I started properly playing with the Bees second year of Uni (Sept 08), and that was whe you started properly playing as well right?

honestly, the fact that my router sucks so much donger that i can't play any campaign or FF matchmaking is a blessing in disguise

because it means there's no way i can ever get FF or matchmaking campaign challenges

so i just mentally write them off, focus on the regular matchmaking challenges, and don't worry about my credits or rank too much

It counts for the survive 20 rounds one, too - if you don't mind doing a minimum of 20 perfect score attacks in a day.

The Plasma Launcher locks onto people. Since he stepped through a teleporter it tracked him all the way across the map.
