Sound Cutting Out

WibodWibod Registered User regular
So I've been having this problem for a little while, but only recently has it started to aggravate me.

I have a Razer AC1 sound card, it works fine and dandy for the most part, except it likes to cut my sound out completely. Now when I say completely I mean that I have to restart the entire computer to get it back. There's no real pattern to the sound going, it just goes, the computer can be on for 5 minutes or 3 days and the sound will just mysteriously turn off. I've been talking with Razer tech support for the last little while and haven't really gotten anywhere with them so I thought I'd come to you guys.
What I've tried:
-reinstalling the most recent drivers
-installing previous drivers (only 1 previous version available so that kinda sucks)
-switching to a different PCI slot
-checking if windows audio service had died (it hadn't and restarting it didn't do anything)
-disabling the mobos onboard sound device through the bios, uninstalling its drivers etc...

Now I've also been browsing the internet and can't really seem to find anything on this card having this problem, I'm hoping one of you guys could shed some light on what may be a potential problem. The only time anything seemed consistent previously was when using the 2.24 drivers watching a ustream or such and the sound would stop after a minute or so, but since fiddling with things this doesn't occur anymore.

the only thing i could think of quick is jiggling the chord

literally, see if that works because it might be that the contact points or WHATEVER aren't so hot anymore

i only say this because it happened to me for a while and i just recently bought a usb dongle soundcard, which is pretty good

Have you tried removing the AC1 and using the onboard sound to see if it does the same?

Onboard sound doesn't cut out in the roughly 24 hours I used it, haven't thought of jiggling the contacts so I'll give it a try.
