Problems playing AvP (2010) and Window Update in general

Alright so here's the issue which is making me want to smash my head onto my desk.
Whenever I try to launch the exe, this error comes up:
I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit Home Edition.
Now I've been told that it's a problem with the VC update, so when I try to install THAT, this sucker comes up:
I've also noticed that before all this, months ago my Windows Update refused to work so I get something like this when I try to run another seperate Visual download:
I've bolded the HRESULT. I ran the so called System Update Readiness Tool and it downloaded something but that did diddly squat. I've deactivated all my antivirus/firewall software and still nothing.
It's also been a problem with my iTunes and even installing the MMO Darkfall. I've had it with this damn error, and I can't afford to reinstall Vista right now. Any help?
